When i saw him at ozzfest he realy wasnt that bad. But, you could see that his drug/alcohal habits have caught up to him.
Iron Maiden would dissagree with you on that one, from what I heard there was quite abit of ruckus caused by Sharon due to Maiden giving Ozzy some well deserved critisism IMO

oh and also I'm gonna go pick up one of Maiden's live albums, any recomendations from you guys?

Rock in Rio or Death on the Road...
So true, but only because these days Ozzy's voice is the worst piece of **** I've heard, bar my own voice. Oh Sabbath, why couldn't you have kept Dio?
123 for the Dio comment, he's my favourite Sabbath singer.

anyway, my "Numbers From the Beast: An All-star tribute to Iron Maiden" came today, it's actually pretty good, i've got it on at the moment, it's nice to hear the songs done differently to usual.

EDIT: wow, this version of Flight of Icarus with Ripper Owens singing is 'kin awesome!

Hehe I just got it too. I'm only wrathchild at the moment. Paul sounds different.

Run to the Hills is ok, but wasted years doesn't have the same feeling as the original.

Josh 01-11-2006 11:59 AM

wasted years doesn't have the same feel, but i still like it. the vocals on FOTD could be better as well, but musically it's great.

Listening to the solo of FOTD...it seems the guitarist doesn't know what to play and is struggling...

Josh 01-11-2006 12:09 PM

i thought it gave that song a different feel, with different solos. i like how it fades out at the end.

Aces High is cool.

blackthorne 01-11-2006 12:10 PM

i must get that cd!! sounds awesome

Josh 01-11-2006 12:13 PM

i could upload and email it to you, but to be quite honest, i can't be arsed. i believe Ash has a fast connection, being at Uni...

I ain't living in no halls o' residents, I'm a dependent...I live in a flat 10 mins away from Uni, so I have a mediocre connection.

Fine, I'll upload for all to see; please post emails niggas...

Lord Abortion 01-11-2006 12:30 PM

I'm up for that, fo shizzle.

Pffft.

Blaze>Paul.

Josh 01-11-2006 12:31 PM

lol. Ollie, i can just lend it to you tomorrow if you want.

Lord Abortion 01-11-2006 12:35 PM

Yeah, kick arse, then

Josh 01-11-2006 12:36 PM

if i remember it, and I&W for Martha.

blackthorne 01-11-2006 01:03 PM

ohh il take it blackthorn574592@aol.com oh and bruce>blaze>>>>paul

all good but well thats my opinion

Josh 01-11-2006 02:59 PM

they all suited their periods with the band. and Blaze also gave them a kick up the arse and made them get their act together again, IMO if Bruce had stayed on after FOTD they would have gone downhill rapidly.

the_uber_penguin 01-12-2006 03:55 AM

Regarding Paul vs Blaze:

Paul sung those first two albums better then Blaze would have, but Blaze sung his two albums better then Paul would have.

Is that fair to them?

Iron Pantallica 01-12-2006 04:17 AM

iron maiden rock . my favourite song by them is hallowed be thy name and powerslave

Dimebag Dom 01-12-2006 05:03 AM

I agree tim, i mean stranger, they do rock..

Electric_Eye 01-12-2006 05:07 AM

Blaze and Paul are both the best at the songs they do and they fit the songs to their ability, i doubt the badn would have written a song in Virtual XI that would be suited to Paul or Bruce's voice and vice versa. Bruce does a pretty good job of singing Paul's and Blaze's songs though but he is probably more felxible than either of them.

I agree, but in my honest oppinion i would choose paul over blaze anyday though. Maybe it was the music, but i still think Paul>Blaze.

oh and i also would like the all star tribute cd:

Look we have this debate every so often, and something always sparks it off again.
We all know each other's opinions by now!

I'd say Paul era Maiden > Blaze era Maiden.

I have to say that Bruce seems to do everything well. The Clansman and Sign Of The Cross are both highlights from RiR for me, and he handled all of Paul's stuff really well when I saw them at Reading.

ashman 01-12-2006 10:18 AM

They're both good, we all know that ollie is a paul fanboy :p

crag 01-12-2006 10:45 AM

Josh 01-12-2006 11:38 AM

I completly forgot to upload 'em. That was taken across the road from my flat, I used to see it once every week, but not so much anymore.

Josh 01-12-2006 12:00 PM
why is there a maiden van? it's cool, but still...
I don't quite know...

crag 01-12-2006 12:09 PM

perhaps its there to spread the word of Maiden

Josh 01-12-2006 12:13 PM

well yeh, but still...

i want a massive lorry with maiden pictures all over it when i'm older, simply because it would be cool.

Deth 01-12-2006 12:46 PM

Here's my bass part for The Trooper. It's quite quiet though, I couldn't fix it.

thanks, it sounds loud enough to me, but if it becomes too quiet when the guitars and vocals are added i should be able to fix it:)

blackthorne 01-12-2006 01:07 PM
bah, Brucey>Blazey>Pauly
exactly my opinion, thank you

EDIT: I guess great minds think alike :thumb:

crag 01-12-2006 02:03 PM

anyone care to listen to what happens when crag gets bored?
bah, Brucey>Blazey>Pauly
I agree, Paul is good and all, but I always feel that there first album isn't as good as it could be. Killers is better, though.

So, can anyone tell me who's on this All Star Tribute to Iron Maiden CD?
