They're building a new site, I tried to sign up the other day and couldn't. What program do you use AS with? Winamp?

And with that I say goodnight MX. And to JonM if you see this I shall be at the AIM chat tomorrow.

Way to call in sick. And thankfully it's going to be Mingus, too. Goodnight.

You can use it with any media player, you just download the corresponding plugin from the AS site when you sign up.

What are some examples of "angular" riffs? I thought I knew what it meant, but I want to be sure.

Hahah. Think nervous post-punk music that sort of sounds like funk but is too nerdy.

You mean it's always a bad thing? I thought it was that jerky Talking Heads stuff.

Zappa 08-07-2005 10:27 PM

It's not a bad thing at all. Talking Heads fits my description perfectly.

I don't know yet  I think I may have just posted in a spam thread or something.

Glitterati 08-08-2005 07:34 AM

I went skimboarding yesterday, and I got horribly sunburned. I couldn't sleep because of the pain, so that's why I'm posting here at 6:34 in the morning.

Stupid sunburns

sweboy 08-08-2005 07:38 AM

Skimboarding? Please inform the uninformed. Is it some kind of surfing?

Glitterati 08-08-2005 07:44 AM
Skimboarding? Please inform the uninformed. Is it some kind of surfing?
For skimboarding, you go out into shallow water, maybe about ankle-deep. You take a board that's shaped like a surfboard (only smaller) and toss it out onto the water, and then you run, jump, and skid along the water.

Sounds like fun, I had never heard of it either.

Ive been skimboarding before. I then realized that I have zero balance skills and spent 2 hours busting my ass before giving up. :/

incubliss 08-08-2005 08:25 AM

skimboarding is hard, i tend to just dig the nose into the sand and hit the deck. surfing is a lot more fun, and i get a better kick out of it.

I didn't call in sick, I got sunburned and I'm too much of a little girl to wrestle with a sunburn, heh.

I love skimboarding when I go to the beach. I remember the first time I tried it I busted my ass, and this old guy saw me and laughed :upset:.

A Goonie 08-08-2005 10:34 AM

I shouldn't even be going to it. I find no pleasure in it which is why I'm about to quit it. Then I shall petition for my school to have a jazz band

Kyle 08-08-2005 12:02 PM

I'm not banned anymore :) I feel like such a Newb when on my 14 post account.

So, PBS proved how awesome it is last night again by showing The Grateful Dead Movie, or whatever. Watching it made me appreciate how great they actually were.

God, I love PBS.

Dammit! I've been wanting to see that for a long time. The Grateful Dead are my favorite band of all time. Oh well, it'll be on some other time.

masada 08-08-2005 01:13 PM

I've had this guitar part worked out for at least a year, and now I've noticed that it's very similar to Sigur Ros' "Untitled 8".

**** it.

Zappa 08-08-2005 01:14 PM

Use it anyway, sv. Things that sound like rip-offs are perfectly alright, in my book.

masada 08-08-2005 01:18 PM

I probably will.

Speaking of bands/songs, I'm currently in two bands, though I'll probably enjoy the new band much more, as it is named after a Sonic Youth song, Brother James. I'm actually quite excited about it, which is rare for being in a band. I haven't really had much luck with bands.

6Stringer 08-08-2005 01:25 PM

Music is a folk art, use riffs from where ever you hear them, IMO.

Zappa 08-08-2005 01:29 PM

Interesting you say that, because right now I'm listening to the dub sounds of Lee "Scratch" Perry & the Upsetters. Deeeeeelaaaaay.
