French/Italian screamo is the shiz man.

Matt? 08-31-2006 10:16 PM

"screamo is tight"

:)

Jesus Christ, Envy was incredible. Life At These Speeds played really well to and Sleeping People might be one of the trippiest bands I have ever heard. I picked up Source Tags And Codes on Vinyl and Yaphet Kotto's The Killer Was In The Government Blankets on vinyl. Also got an awesome Envy shirt and There Were Wires- Somnambulists on CD. I was gonna get two I Hate Myself 12"s but I got Yaphet Kotto instead. They had a really nice CD collection and I saw a neat An Albatross 7".

But yeah, one of the best live performances I've ever seen.

pixiesfanyo 09-01-2006 02:07 AM

when i did my history of punk rock project for class the three bands i used for emo were Indian Summer, Pg.99, and Hot Cross. To show the evolution and all.

Sleeper 09-01-2006 02:34 AM

I love the intro's to Indian Summer's songs.

I was here
Because I was ready to leave
It should mean more, but it can't
So dance dance
Dance to the sounds
Of America's best dressed fake out.

I love that song.

They only complained when I played Ghost Mice.

Gosh I love Ghost Mice. But why complain about them after hearing other stuff that you undoubtedly played
I love Yaphet Kotto.
Yeah they're a good band. The pop-punkish vocals with the screaming are real tight.

Does anyone have any Still Life? They're elusive on soulseek.

My IM screenname is Arrakakaka.

Remember the three ka's.

Matt? 09-01-2006 04:34 PM

seen that pine video before. it owns.
Hahaha

Probably because of the vocals and lyrics. I can see a lot of people having problems with those.

cobert 09-01-2006 06:53 PM

Gimme some of you guyzes slsk names.

I would use limewire thats already on my computer, but its being gay and I cant download because it doesnt have the music publishers license.

And i need 4 or five of the best of the best modern emo bands (from the 2000's) to put on the CD.

White Goodman 09-01-2006 07:37 PM

My slsk name is James Bondage. Would pg. 99, Circle Takes the Square, or Hot Cross make that list and if not, then I guess I would say Raein or Amanda Woodward next. I guess my opinon probably wouldn't be the best to judge since I've only been on here for like 2 weeks or so.

cobert 09-01-2006 07:45 PM

I know City of Caterpillar is going on there, and that pg99 is definitely going to be on there somewhere. Hot Cross is arguable. Id like to have CTTS, but i need to think about it a little bit more.

All downloading programs piss me off, thats why I just buy albums. For the same reason, thats why i dont have much music. :-/

I try to buy all the music I like, but sometimes its just too much. But usually i'm good getting around to buying cds, that's why I kept a most wanted list.

cobert 09-01-2006 07:52 PM

Fuck this, ill just get someone to send me the songs I need over AIM after we get the list together. I need some reccomendations for one song by each of these bands.

Husker Du
Dag Nasty
Rites of Spring
Embrace
Moss Icon
Native Nod (probably Tangled)
Heroin (not sure about this band yet)
Indian Summer (dont even bother, its gonna be woolworm/angry son)
Cap'n Jazz
SDRE (not sure bout them, if they do make it, ill probably put 48)
Some other indie emo band
Saetia (probably postlapsaria)
You and I (probably 143 jcm)
Joshua Fit For Battle
Jeromes Dream
Pg99
Orchid
City of Caterpillar
Then i need like, the best 3 bands around today, with diversity. So Gospel will probably make it, then maybe IWSMOFFY, its up to you guys to debate on the next one or two.

EDIT: And tell me if you dont think a band belongs, or if there should definitely be someone on there thats not.

White Goodman 09-01-2006 08:03 PM

Oh and by the way whiteminority, I checked out Majority Rule's split with pg. 99 and the Emergency Numbers album and I love them.

and cobert:
Rites of Spring-For Want Of or End On End
Moss Icon-Moth or Divinity Cove are my personal favorites
Embrace-Dance of Days
City of Catepillar-Fucking Hero or And You're Wondering How a Top Floor Could Replace Heaven
Saetia-Venus And Bacchus would be my pick
Joshua Fit For Battle-Opportunist or To Bring Our Own End
Pg. 99-In Love With an Apparition or My Application to Heaven
Orchid-Aesthetic Dialectic or In G and E
Dag Nasty-Minority of One
Jerome's Dream-i'm probably the only one here who doesn't like them
Native Nod-I agree with Tangled
SDRE-In Circles, Seven, or Grendel
Gospel-Congratulations...You've Hit Bottom!
The rest are unsure or already decided by you.

Wow 09-01-2006 08:07 PM

I was thinking For Want Of, also.
Moss Icon is up to you guys. I like a lot of their stuff, I just cant decide.
Embrace selection noted.
Top Floor would be good for COC
Meh, Venus and Bacchus is alright, but Postlapsaria is just too good to ever pass up.
JFFB, Pg99, Orchid, and Dag Nasty noted.
I dont really like Jeromes Dream either, their vocals are bad. Theyre on here because theyre one of the more popular bands.
I dont get why nobody ever likes 48 by SDRE. Grendel could work too.
Im thinking Yr Electric Surge is Sweet from Gospel, maybe. Then again, im not too much into gospel, its all up to you guys.

Then name 2 other early hardcore bands that influenced emo.
Blood Money is a radddd song, i might have to use that.
For fear of it Goin' down, i will put Thirty Dollar Bill.
Orchid - LOLOLOL
Everything else noted, especially RABL.

Wow 09-01-2006 08:15 PM

Oh I just don't like them. I'm not saying don't use them but because I'm not a fan, I don't know any of their songs.

Dude, it doesn't matter if you don't like their vocals, you HAVE to listen to the second half of Thirty Dollar Bill. One of the best emo moments ever recorded.

Thirty Dollar Bill was the only song I halfway enjoyed by them. The rest I found annoying because of the vocals, really didn't enjoy them.

Ooooh, okay. Ill wait for somebody to come in that knows about all of that stuff.

Will do, will do.

Matt? 09-01-2006 08:48 PM

no offense, it's a pretty ok list for the purpose but i personally don't like it.

the way i see it is you took most of the emo bands i never listen too and put them on a mixtape. snoozefest for me. but i mean i guess a lot of those bands are "important"

i dunno how i'd improve it though.

cobert 09-01-2006 08:52 PM

I dont regularly listen to about half of those bands either, but thats just because im picky. I listen to most of them occasionally though. I was just trying to get some of the differnt types of emo down, just so I could introduce it easier to my friends.

That is what im going for, but i just organized the bands into groups of 4 or 5 for the different stages. You can see how the first few on there are early emo and the stuff that influenced them, then it goes more into the indie, then chaotic stuff.
Gross.
gtfo, The Number Twelve r00l.

But just to clarify for the other guy, theyre not emo.
