dont worry i only like metallica now as long as they put on a good live show

i only buy albums if they're good*, which is why i dont have reload or st.anger**
*If I like them

**,becuase I don't like them.

Joe 01-23-2005 02:05 PM

^^ agreed. the only good albums are the one you like

Joe 01-23-2005 02:12 PM

which is everything but reload and st anger...

munky_magik 01-23-2005 02:18 PM

I'm making the point that just because he doesn't like those albums, doesn't actually mean that they're bad albums.

iamkirk 01-23-2005 02:23 PM

The only things I like after ajfa are unforgiven ii, fuel, and low mans lyrics.

And I think S&M is good, I just don't like half of the **** they play on it.

not yet, it's been reported though so just need to wait for a Mod to get on.
The way to check is if their user title switches to banned, and the option to give them rep disappears.

JACKROXYOU 01-23-2005 02:34 PM

yea i know that but im to lazy to go back a page

JACKROXYOU 01-23-2005 05:22 PM

so how bout that metallica

Big-Bird 01-23-2005 05:54 PM

I felt that the St. Anger album was trying to be like Master of Puppets

metal_milita 01-23-2005 05:58 PM

??? Are you on something??

uninspiring riffs + no solo's + unmeaningful lyrics + 10 minute epic wannabes is the last thing like MOP

metal_milita 01-23-2005 05:59 PM

**Unless "trying" is the key word. Orelse somebody put an ...AJFA CD in a St.Anger case and they're tricking you.

Kickflip_Burrito 01-23-2005 06:10 PM

I hope the next Metallica album isn't St. Anger styled, apparently they've began writing and recording for the new album.

Xx blackened xX 01-23-2005 06:14 PM

I'm disappointed in post-Black album Metallica. They still put on a ****ing amazing show. And Balck Album and all the ones before are utterly amazing. But really...no solos..what's Kirk trying to do? Save his fingers? The riffs..bad. Drums - good, but the sound wasn't. And alternate tunings? My favorite thing about bands like Metallica and Slayer is that they could play the heaviest **** in the world without having to resort to downtuning their low E.

Either way, they've given rise to a surprising amount of new talented bands, which makes me happy. Prime example: Trivium. Look 'em up, the solos give Kirk a run for his money.

JACKROXYOU 01-23-2005 06:19 PM

good for you :thumb

Kickflip_Burrito 01-23-2005 06:50 PM

Another moaner about post-Black Album material

metal_milita 01-23-2005 06:56 PM

Just because people didn't keep up with this 400 page thread from the beginning doesn't mean they can't post their opinion. We've all bitched about post-black albums before so don't think you're all cool being all sarcastic about it.

Agreed. I find it kinda annoying when people rip on Reload. I know it's not Metallica's best, but I bought it, and I like it. It's a good album IMO. I dunno about St. Anger though, I don't have it, and I probably won't get it.

For those of you who have seen Some Kind of Monster, should I rent it first, or just buy it?

Yea, i'm never buying St. Anger. I might buy it, only to study how to not put out an album.

Metallica is something i don't think you would rent. I'm going to buy it

slaytallica250 01-23-2005 09:35 PM

I'm probably gonna catch some sh!t for this one, but I honestly sort of liked St. Anger. It's obviously not the Metallica we've come to know and love, but it was definitely unique and there are some catchy songs on there, albeit not catchy in the way Metallica usually does it.

Well you shouldn't get that much shit, it's an opinion. It's most definitely not the good Metallica. The songs linger and there aren't any solos, otherwise it would be a better album

I wouldn't worry if I were you. If I don't catch crap for liking Reload, you won't catch crap for liking St. Anger. :thumb:

Joe 01-23-2005 09:48 PM
I felt that the St. Anger album was trying to be like Master of Puppets
with the songs lasting 20 mins??? the only diff is the MOP riffs are cooler and there are solos

metallicamaniac16 01-23-2005 09:52 PM
well st anger more people had problems with than reload
True, but still, a lot of people dont like Reload.

yea...i'm just going to say that KEA to Black was their best era and i don't mind anything between Black and reload and it's downhill from there

now, has anyone seen SKOM

Even though I like Reload, I agree that KEA through Black beats it, but while we're on the subject: Low Man's Lyric, love it, hate it, why? I love it. It's one of the only songs that 'tallica made with all clean guitars, and it's full of emotion that you don't usually see from James.
