I hear that Iggy Pop and the Stooges are reuniting, except for the bass player who is going to be Mike Watt instead. That would be a cool show.

Iai 05-23-2005 03:40 PM

They reunited ages ago.
They reunited ages ago.
With Mike Watt? Well the next (first?) show is May 27th so I thought it was pretty recent.

Unless that webpage needs to be updated. :(

EDIT: Nope, it's this year, but only in Europe :upset:

But at least you Brits can see them at the Reading/Leeds festivals.

Iai 05-23-2005 04:11 PM

Yup.

Bartender 05-23-2005 04:13 PM

I wonder who I saw a few years ago. All I know is that Iggy was there.

The NPC 05-23-2005 10:40 PM

My uncle was spat on by Iggy Pop during a 1970 concert.
The dialogue is godawful clunky horrible cheesy bad. But you expect that.
Exactly. No one goes to Star Wars for brilliant dialogue.

Apart from some stupid parts, Ep 3 was amazing.

My cousin saw Elliott Smith play on a subway.

pixiesfanyo 05-24-2005 05:48 AM

I like how there is an announcement that has the words "Circle Jerking" in it.

And I post at the same Internet forum as you. That pretty much makes me a celebrity, right?

Zappa 05-24-2005 01:59 PM

I put my vote in on the big top MXers thingy. And none of you are on it.
My cousin saw Elliott Smith play on a subway.
I thought he saw him on the subway, and then saw him play live later.

Anyway, my sister got me Pete & Pete on DVD for my birthday. I've watched three episodes so far. I had completely forgotten about little Pete's entourage in the Nightcrawler episode. Brings back memories.

Zappa 05-24-2005 02:59 PM

As far as I'm concerned, the show more than brings back memories. I think I'm enjoying it on a whole other level today.

Electrocution 05-24-2005 03:06 PM

Elaborate?

Zappa 05-24-2005 03:09 PM

I just seriously love the show as I've been watching the episodes over. It's the kind of thing that I would definitely watch if it were a new show on today. I don't get just a nostalgia kick out of it, is what I'm saying.

Electrocution 05-24-2005 03:13 PM

It seems very dated to me. I still enjoy the humor, and I would probably watch such a show would it air nowadays, but I get a big "nostalgia kick," as you put it.

My mom worked backstage at a T-Rex concert where Rush was the opening band.

What does your mom do?

Luxor 05-24-2005 03:40 PM

She runs the "Buck a B-J stand".

Ba-zing!

I voted for you :upset:
What does your mom do?
Well this was in the 70s so I'm guessing she was just a teenager then.

Now she works in the carbide business :)

Bartender 05-24-2005 04:30 PM

Just a note for anyone who has voted in the Top 100 MXers competition; all old ballots are invalid. You have to resubmit your votes, on a different site.

I hope you all (especially Zappa) take the time to re-vote.

Zappa 05-24-2005 04:57 PM

Well, it's hard to remember.

Lame.

YDload 05-24-2005 05:22 PM

I recently finished reading "The Curse of Lono" by Hunter S. Thompson. It's about his adventures in Hawaii, although there are less drugs and more "going fishing and beating marlins with Samoan war clubs." Also there are illustrations by some guy named Ralph Steadman. I don't know if he worked with Pink Floyd, but it's very similar in style to the album art for The Wall.

Zappa 05-24-2005 05:34 PM

A friend of mine is a Hunter S. Thompson fan, as well as a visual artist. She's very, very into Steadman's work.

YDload 05-24-2005 05:40 PM

Okay I guess he didn't work on The Wall. I remembered seeing his drawings somewhere else but it turned out to be the cover of the Fear and Loathing DVD :-/

But I really like his style. It's a mix of the Romanticism of JMW Turner and the Expressionism of Munch et al.

(pretentiousness)

biografiend 05-24-2005 09:05 PM

I have Fear and Loathing (the book). His work on the illustrations are awesome.

Today I babysat for a kid with "special needs". I really hope I get paid lots of ca$h at the end on the week.

Zmev 05-24-2005 11:54 PM

So...guess who bought Crooked Rain Crooked Rain for $7.50.

Dang, that's cheap.
