Cream Team 10-29-2004 05:53 PM

Did i say anything about it being a competition? That is my opinion...
ok then, what do you guys think about foghat?

lunch998 10-29-2004 05:53 PM
sorry, keith moon and ginger baker beat him...he finishes in a close third however
Hence the one of my favorite. He's behind Bonham, Baker, Moon, Mitchell, Clive Bunker, and a few others on my list.

Everyone on AIM! I want to give samples.

RockAndRoll 10-29-2004 09:33 PM

Ian paice isn't really one of my favourites, but I'm not a huge deep purple fan to begin with.

Badmoon 10-29-2004 09:35 PM

Everyone keep an eye out on the Respected Bands you dislike thread, this can get good.

He's pretty good but I prefer many other drummers of the era to him.

enpsychopedia 10-30-2004 01:12 AM

Broken Arrow 10-30-2004 07:25 AM

Oh trust me^ I throw in Neil to every conversation :thumb:

Anyways what C.d.s did everyone get last night?

Me:Neil Young-Zuma(this album has been so hard for me to find until now)

Van Halen-1984(already had it on viynl......so what)

CSN&Y-So Far(Jesus, this is the rarest album in my area I have been looking for this album for almosty a year)

Jimi Hendrix- Plays the Blues

Ian Paice is very good.

Same with Alex Van Halen!!(hasn't been mentioned.)

lunch998 10-30-2004 07:30 AM

Yea Alex Van Halen is good, but I don't listen to Van Halen that much. And I think the Stones have probably been mentioned after 471 pages. Not sure though.

lunch998 10-30-2004 07:33 AM
I've never really got The Rolling Stones. They've got the odd really good song, but I think they're probably one of the most over-hyped classic rock bands overall. Keith Richards is a brilliant riff writer, but they just lack any real consistency.
To me their influence is more important than their music. They've made good music for 40 years(which I seriously respect them for) but they haven't made much great music, in my eyes.

Broken Arrow 10-30-2004 07:42 AM

Do you mean in your ears?

I love the Stones and I think they have made alot of amazing songs.

also quite a few not so good songs.

I think I will review Zuma

I like Let It Bleed, but I haven't been able to get into anything else they've done.

We should have an anual Classic Rock Thread Dead fest.

blue·grass ( P ) Pronunciation Key (blgrs)
n.
Music. A type of folk music that originated in the southern United States, typically played on banjos and guitars and characterized by rapid tempos and jazzlike improvisation

=p but that's about all I can give, other than it's similar to a country style, I guess.

funk_rock_jazz_drummer 10-30-2004 02:57 PM

nothin better , ever than the classics, done, no more discussion, its just so good

Badmoon 10-30-2004 02:59 PM

Bluegrass is a genre that has been really played since the 1800's, but was named and basically founed in the 30-40's. Bill Monroe was the founder and named the genre, and really came up with the commonly acknowledged style.

Bluegreass, when describing the sound, is Country but with more emphasis on virtuosity and speed. Which is easily heard. So in a way, Bluegrass to Country, is what Metal is to Rock.

Now, there a few common types of Bluegrass. Traditional, Progressive, Contemporary, and various others.
