The Decemberists-Castaways and Cutouts

Although Meloy's voice bugs me at times, this is pretty solid. I like the accordion; its not something you hear too much in non-polka.

FA 05-29-2006 01:16 AM

Is last.fm temporarly offline?

FA 05-29-2006 01:17 AM

Devendra Banhart - Nino Rojo
Iron & Wine - The Creek Drank the Cradle
Nick Drake - Pink Moon
Cat Stevens - Classics
Animal Collective - Feels
Antony and the Johnsons - I Am A Bird Now

Little Man being Erased 05-29-2006 01:18 AM

It seems to be having a few problems.

FA 05-29-2006 02:15 AM

Nacho...don't do me like that. No but seriously, Pom Tetty rules.

FA 05-29-2006 02:35 AM

I hate the RHCP...but everyone here at A7I seems to lub em. I guess they are alternative..

br3ad_man 05-29-2006 03:04 AM

Peeping Tom got posted on myspace in it's entirety. So I've been digging that. I also had a sweet conversation about Radiohead, Elliott Smith, Interpol and Alfred Hitchcock with my English Extension teacher this afternoon, so I'll probably dig something out of that group later tonight.

I Was A Kaleidoscope 05-29-2006 04:10 AM

The Flaming Lips - At War With The Mystics
Venetian Snares - The Chocolate Wheelchair Album
"Celebrated Summer" might be Husker Du's best song. It's hard to imagine that they make 'em better than that.
Celebrated Summer is easily my favourite of theirs.

I've been listening to a lot of CCR and Silver Jews today.

Sam 05-29-2006 08:55 AM

Slint's first album Tweez is really cool, I've been listening to it alot lately.
Sway's ok. Better than most of these weak ass British MCs.
Opinion stands. But most of the beats are kinda boring.

JonM 05-29-2006 11:59 AM

I'm probably not going to get a satisfying last.fm list until I'm back at school, because I barely listen to music on my computer at home. I haven't been digging anything lately. I'm listening mostly to bad music and deleting it.

I've been wanting to hear this for quite awhile, and I finally thought to try soul-seeking it again the other day. I found it, and it's very awesome. Post-punk reggae by chicks.

Scuba_Steve 05-29-2006 03:59 PM

Folk punk of all types.

I just got Colossal Youth by Young Marble Giants. This is really cool. It is very sparse music that manages to simultaneously be very dark and very bouncy. The group has a female vocalist who is accompanied at various points by bass guitar, drum machines, keys, and guitars that sort of roll along.

A Silver Mt. Zion

I think i'm goign to see these guys live this summer.

how exciting.

Little Man being Erased 05-29-2006 07:59 PM

What's that new AFI album like?

I'm digging Butch Walker - Letters right at this very moment.

ATM 05-29-2006 08:04 PM

My dad and I just watched some awesome music videos on YouTube.

We watched stuff by:

Captain Beefheart
Atomic Rooster
Winger
Ratt
Grand Funk Railroad
Devo
Can
MC5
Molly Hatchet
Blackfoot
Trio
Markoolio
Bonzo Dog Band
Electric Prunes
Van Halen

It was fun :-D

Little Man being Erased 05-29-2006 08:12 PM
The new AFI is different. It's more MCR than the last one, but I'm really starting to dig the electronic stuff. There's a couple of duff tunes on it, but overall I think it's a good listen.
hmmm, sounds too risky for a purchase. I might d/l some shit from it and go from there.

Glitterati 05-29-2006 08:13 PM

Early music videos are awesome.

And I've actually been getting into old Elvis Presley lately, too. My dad's a fan of all the old country/rockabilly stuff like Johnny Cash, Elvis Presley, Roy Orbison, Hank Williams, etc., so it's the stuff I heard growing up.

Anyway, post-dinner diggings:
Urge Overkill
Meat Loaf
The Verve

Actually Ratt were OK when they first broke. You should look up the early Motley Crue videos; they're awesome. The early days of MTV was the best for videos; Duran Duran, all that.
haha we were actually watching them ironically

ratt were so ridiculously lame looking

ATM 05-29-2006 09:16 PM
I figured as much :p I mean the videos are awesome.
haha yea they were pretty funny

smoking in the boys room by the crue is pretty badass

Zappa 05-29-2006 10:48 PM

I thought this Liliput band (more girl punk) would be really awesome. I downloaded their complete output, and the first disc is pretty typical and not very good. I have read that the second disc is better, though.
