i dont think you understood me. i DONT WANT TO BE HOUNDED WITH AVATAR REQUESTS, not "ooh i would LOVE to give you that one but do you think you have anything else i might like?"

asdf 02-24-2008 02:12 PM

I know, but I thought I'd give it a shot.

So I really want the Harold and Maude soundtrack LP that was released last month, to get as a gift. Unfortunately, I think I missed my opportunity. Only 2500 released and they seemed to have sold quickly. :(

Zmev 02-24-2008 02:18 PM

I was listening to "If you want to sing out" earlier :creepy:

asdf 02-24-2008 02:42 PM

Well, I found and ordered it. It's going to be the best gift I've ever given.

Interstate 02-24-2008 02:44 PM

This weekend has been cool. Mainly catching up with friends and generally socialising which I haven't done in a long while due to living 150 miles away from everyone up till a few weeks ago.

I joined a gym a couple of days ago to get my stamina and strength back up because I get tired really easily. Also trying to quit smoking but even though I don't smoke alot it's turning out to be easier said than done.

Zmev 02-24-2008 02:45 PM

The website I went to said it was out. Link to the one you found?

asdf 02-24-2008 02:58 PM

http://www.musicdirect.com/product/80976

I almost ordered to, the second one being for myself or for a friend, but I've been spending too much money this week. I'll regret it later.

Zmev 02-24-2008 03:14 PM

I shouldn't since the movie was filmed around here and I see the scenes daily, but I can't say no.

asdf 02-24-2008 03:33 PM

Where was it filmed? When I watched it with a friend recently we were noticing how interesting buy uninformative the location was. We just could not figure out where it was supposed to be taking place.

Zmev 02-24-2008 03:40 PM

Heres a list of where most of the scenes are filmed: http://www.geocities.com/rainforest/5862/xharoldlocations.html

I live in Redwood City so the scene where Maude takes the tree was filmed near the justice hall downtown. Also, I take 280 to school and the graveyard has way more graves than the movie shows now.

sweboy 02-24-2008 03:40 PM

Welcome to the first edition of the "Less talk, more rawk: Sweboy posts YouTube videos in the community thread" series. Today's video is some real badass shit, "Grim Reaper Blues", a deadly psych-blues-rock jam by Entrance, with obligatory 60's space kaleidoscope effects and shit like that. Enjoy.

A Dead Modernist 02-24-2008 03:42 PM

Anxious 02-24-2008 03:42 PM

OOuuu, Entrance. Good band.

Do you listen to Woven Hand?

sweboy 02-24-2008 03:58 PM

Not really, any recommendations?

Anxious 02-24-2008 03:59 PM

The album Mosaic.

http://www.last.fm/music/Woven+Hand/Mosaic

Its like a countryish Six Organs.

Liebensaft 02-24-2008 05:18 PM

I saw Charlie Bartlett today.

Anxious 02-24-2008 06:30 PM

I just saw Kimya Dawson.

Small college town+ record store+ free show= lots of fucking hipsters.

Liebensaft 02-24-2008 06:38 PM

Definitely.

food for thought: do hipsters know they're hipsters?

ATM 02-24-2008 06:47 PM

Ironically.

Kage 02-24-2008 06:48 PM
Definitely.

food for thought: do hipsters know they're hipsters?
It's one of the requirements, I think.

catharsis 02-24-2008 06:48 PM

Of course they do. Nobody subconsciously buys bright pink bandanas to tie around their neck.

asdf 02-24-2008 06:48 PM

I think the answer is yes in most cases.

I went to my local hipster coffee house to go do homework, but they were remodelling. Now I'm in my room not doing homework again.

Liebensaft 02-24-2008 07:06 PM

Yeah, I guess you can't be that cool without making an effort.

Bukowski 02-24-2008 07:10 PM

VU, Stooges undeniably cool
took a lesson from that drone rock school
manipulate musicians hack righteous drool

Anxious 02-25-2008 12:21 AM

Rory, my local record store had that "I Dig Chicks" album posted up among the slew of hilarious album covers that cover the wall. I lol'd.

Edit: I was just informed that one of the people that played with Kimya was Paul Baribeau. He was alright.

sweboy 02-25-2008 12:05 PM

In the second edition of the "Less talk more Rawk: Sweboy posts YouTube videos in the community thread" series, we enjoy a moment of a scorching mind-melt ritual courtesy of half man, half demon from the future Keiji Haino. He may be old but he can still rock.

It's a great album cover. I'm pretty jealous of my friend who bought it. Definitely worth 50 cents.

I like Paul Baribeau because he's just a bumbling midwestern guy who wrote a lot of songs pertaining to places in West Michigan that I know or lived in.

And that Kimya Dawson song "Tire Swing" gives reference to my home town.

perriwinkle 02-25-2008 01:29 PM

Interstate 02-25-2008 02:46 PM

Man, started going to the gym and it's killing me.

Bukowski 02-25-2008 03:13 PM

My wrists are killing me because I've suddenly started playing drums again after a year of slacking off. At least an hour a day for the last 2 weeks. It's worthwhile so far, I'm back to being really good at least. At the moment, I'm jamming with friends every Tuesday and I'm starting a band with some guys from college so time to step it up.
