The Great Decay 05-26-2006 02:31 PM

Okkervil River - Down The River of Golden Dreams

I really like this record.

Anxious 05-26-2006 03:54 PM

Flipper
Sun City Girls
Husker Du

Zebra 05-26-2006 04:57 PM

Beck - Mutations

This kicks the **** out of Sea Change.

Bartender 05-26-2006 04:59 PM

EDIT: that it does.

Jools Holland has a good-looking lineup this week. David Gilmour, Paul Simon, Elvis Costello, Crosby and Nash, the Streets.. Has just started though, so I suppose it could all turn out badly. I turned on halfway through a Gilmour track, which sounded great; might have to think about getting On An Island after all.

Last week's was good, too.

Bartender 05-26-2006 05:10 PM

There's at least one other guy there, but he's Brazilian and I have no idea how to spell his name.

Glitterati 05-26-2006 05:18 PM

David Gilmour?
Paul Simon?
Elvis Costello?

habbadahabbadahabbada

Anyhow

Television - Marquee Moon
Patti Smith - Easter

Artsy-punk day. Might follow that up with some Coltrane.

Nonsense, Flipper are great.

I'm digging a band called Alice Donut. Kinda similar to some Butthole Surfers stuff, or as similar as is possible to that crazy band.

BillCosby 05-26-2006 06:03 PM

The Velvet Teen - Out Of The Fierce Parade sort of. Some songs are kinda meh. Some songs are great though.

Alice Donut rule.

Mr Observations 05-27-2006 03:13 PM

The Pop Group - Y
Unwound - Repetition

If the world was a better place, everyone would know and love these bands.
Mission of Burma - The Obliterati

Solid.

Alice Donut rule.
Indeed they do.

I'll have to pick up The Obliterati soon.

great great great band.
try to find Ecstacy and Wine, it's not as popular as Loveless or Isn't Anything(which isn't that good compared to their other stuff) but it's a great CD. the songs "Never Say Goodbye" and "Strawberry Wine"(both on Ecstacy and Wine) are too undernoticed for how great they are.

Bukowski 05-27-2006 04:54 PM

Flipper are a great band.

Slint - Spiderland
Red House Painters - Ocean Beach
Victim's Family - White Bread Blues

anyone that likes bands like the Minutemen and NoMeansNo should really check out Victims Family.

ATM 05-27-2006 04:57 PM

Did anyone catch Peeping Tom on Conan last night?

It was sweet.

Anyhow, I've been diggin' tons of hip hop lately, but more specifically anything MF Doom touches.

Zappa 05-27-2006 05:46 PM

Siouxsie & the Banshees - Kaleidoscope

Was itching for some post-punk tonight, so I did some soul-seeking. This was the first to download, and it's quite good.

BillCosby 05-27-2006 05:50 PM

Joe Bonamassa - You and Me
Mr. Bungle - California

Venetian Snares - The Chocolate Wheelchair Album
Sonic Youth - Rather Ripped

Tangy zizzle 05-27-2006 11:04 PM

I'm gonna join in the praise;

The Obliterati is brilliant.

Nacho, remember when noone listened to Mission of Burma around here?

br3ad_man 05-28-2006 12:18 AM

I remember. Nacho and you whored them a whole lot.

YDload 05-28-2006 12:24 AM

"Celebrated Summer" might be Husker Du's best song. It's hard to imagine that they make 'em better than that.

cb240 05-28-2006 12:25 AM

Jeff Mangum - Live at Aquarius Records

For like the third separate time.

slack 05-28-2006 01:00 AM

Damm skippy. We had good reason too. You dig them right? You need to hear this record if you do man, best thing they've done IMO.

br3ad_man 05-28-2006 03:10 AM

Yeah, I dig. I'm looking forward to hearing this.

dwass5656 05-28-2006 07:12 AM

At work (Hollywood Video), we play this DVD with trailers and such. Well, on there are a couple of eMusic commercials that are very nice. http://www.emusic.com/features/commercial.html So, I suppose I'm digging those because I've seen them about 50 times each, but still enjoy them.

And also,
A.C. Newman - The Slow Wonder
Raoul Björkenheim / Ingebrigt Håker Flaten / Paal Nilssen-Love - Scorch Trio
