Clips from Om's new album are avaliable on on drag city's website: http://www.dragcity.com/products/god-is-good
The clips sound very interesting. Each song is fairly different from one another and the work as a whole looks to be a refreshing departure from Om's now standard formula. September 8th(or maybe the 29th) can't come soon enough for me :D |

I think a lot of you guys are going to like that album, I did.
**** yeah I came across this album a couple weeks ago, its ****ing awesome |
I'm too lazy to find the drone thread but there's a new Nadja LP out now and a new Mount Fuji Doomjazz Corp. album :D
Omg, what a good week.
whoa whoa what is the new Nadja called? |
Belles Betes and they are releasing another one in october called Pyramids With Nadja.
|
Awesome! I'll be checkin em out
|
listening to witchfinder general, would be able to enjoy this if it didn't have the least grim vocals i've ever heard
|
I know this is blasphemous, but I really don't like that much traditional doom.
|
im sure i could get into some traditional doom, but this **** sounds like cheesy 80's rock with the occasional cool riff
|
i.e. most traditional doom
:D |
Yeah, that's the base of most trad doom, haha.
I remember i didn't like those cheesy voices and all before, but then I heard Pagan Altar and I really didn't care, the music is just tooo good to miss. Andrew: I've been listening to a bunch of deah/doom stuff that I dont know if you like or know about...(Anantomia, Spina Bifida, Visceral Evisceration, Creepmime). I would rec you all of those bands if you havnet heard them. |
Anatomia (haven't heard of them)
Spina Bifida (good ****) Visceral Evisceration (good ****) Creepmime (haven't heard of them) |
Check them out, then. Anatomia are Japs so you know what to expect, haha.
|
Most old traditional doom blows. Bands like Solomon Kane, Pagan Altar, WG, and trouble are all way too bluesy and it just comes off as sound like heavy rock and roll. I don't consider my favorite bands (Warning, While Heaven Wept, Candlemass) traditional doom at all. It's just DOOM.
|
Speaking of While Heaven Wept, have they announced when the new album is coming out?
|
Tom says it's 99.9% done, which coming from him I'd say it anywhere from 6 months to a year. That band is full of emotional ****s that go through band members and mental breakdowns like water. I have a feeling it will be very clasically influenced though - if you've heard Of Empires Forlorn you heard the neoclassical elements it has, and I think if Tom's in charge it will only continue down that direction.
It will be good though, no doubt. I just wish Tom wouldn't have gave up vocals - he's one of the best in the genre if not the best |
Yeah, Tom is pretty damn awesome.
|
Austin, did you see the clips of them from BTL? The new guys is alright, but man, big disappointment. Unless he sounds a lot better in the studio.
|
Traditional doom is pretty awesome tbh.
|
Hell yes. Especially the epic side.
|
Sometimes, but most of the time it sucks.
|
Most of the time meaning never.

Yeah, it's brilliant.
I'm going to buy their newest next week. Apparently it's really good. |
It is.
Imo, their best album since Tales of Creation. |
I agree with Mike. Though I like Chapter VI a lot. DMD definitely kills KOTG.
