You can't just take off an avator because you like it, the first amendment guarentees the right to free speech. Not free spech unless you're a nazi.

repcak 05-16-2006 04:32 PM

well, the law is a little bit different in the usa as in europe/austria. for nazism you will go to jail in austria!

MBS 05-16-2006 04:39 PM
well, the law is a little bit different in the usa as in europe/austria. for nazism you will go to jail in austria!
Musicianforums is a united states based website, therefore the laws of the US apply to the website.

Riva 05-16-2006 05:02 PM
@Mods: how will you now behave in front of users who have nazism/racism-avatars and 'costum user titles'?
The same way we'll act if someone has a Christian avatar. We'll wait until the user with a problem discusses matters with the user with the avatar, and if that doesn't resolve the issue, then we'll take further action.
You can't just take off an avator because you like it, the first amendment guarentees the right to free speech. Not free spech unless you're a nazi.
The first amendment is a US idiosyncracy.

Yes, but as I said, you need to discuss it with the person who is using the avatar. Jail for supporting the Nazis is an Eastern European idiosyncracy.

Yes, and no. Technically, the internet is held only to international law, which is a system that is entirely unsuited to governing something like the internet. However, some people might argue that the US law does apply to internet businesses, like MX, which are based in the US. It's a real grey area. Considering how hard the US government is trying to screw the internet up, I'd be more inclined to take the international law side of the fence.

Advertising bands. A mod should inform them about the Audio forum.

munky_magik 05-16-2006 06:19 PM

You mean the one that you can't access unless you happen to know the url?

MBS 05-16-2006 06:58 PM

I move them to Jam Session now.

I read something that when the United States government was cracking down on torrent sites and stuff, sites that were based in other countries didn't have to worry about being shut down because they weren't based in the US. Something like that, I think.

Riva 05-16-2006 07:39 PM

Yes, but that's because the US government, like US people, is arrogant and thinks that it is above the law.

Hevy Tred 05-16-2006 08:07 PM

Thats al gore

I really have to agree with that. No offense to anyone (hell I live on the US) but currently the US thinks they are world police or something...

I figured it's what J wanted us to do.
You really dont like americans do you Jason? You seem to have taken a liking to generalize us these days.
It's mostly humourous. Generalisation is something we all do, anyway.

That's a great idea actually, I've always felt restricted by the fact that I can't discuss Mozart in the Black Metal thread.

Yeah, Mozart AND Cradle Of Filth.

Seriously, Buddah, there has to be rules. Just leave it at that.

Nostalgia 05-17-2006 01:43 PM

If there weren't rules in here you don't know what kind of chaos would be brought. Think of the pit times 10.

This guy is advertising this Winterville band. He's made four threads and each one is advertising that band. He's had 10 posts and 9 of them are advertsing this band.

You're welcome...:(

OK as i said before without things such as mozart there would be no cradle of filth

Nostalgia 05-18-2006 01:21 PM

Buddah this isn't the place to be arguing or acting like that. What you're suggesting is pointless; just stop.
