I'm going to take the liberty of combining the Busdriver/Radioinactive album The Weather with the rest of Busdriver's material because, even though The Weather is a collaboration, I listen to it because of Busdriver:

Art Blakey - Moanin' (for like the 6th time in the last two days or so)
The Early November - Room's Too Cold The Reindeer Section |
Battles, thanks to Slugbert.
They're a sweet math rock band, with some bluesy elements. There, I'm helpful. |
Yesterday I went back to school. It was a long drive so I listened to some music on the way:
Husker Du- Zen Arcade If you don't know what this band is like, it's like punk but with more melodic vocals/songwriting. It's who Green Day owes an awful lot to. Mastodon- Leviathan Whale metal. It's an album about Moby Dick, and the music really fits the lyrics in invoking imagery of sailing the high seas and being consumed by madness. I've had the song "Aqua Dementia" stuck in my head all day, what with its crazy guitar intro and growling, raspy vocals. Television- Marquee Moon Most people know how much I've been digging this album lately, but if you still don't know then I'll tell you what it is. It's The Rolling Stones if they were a punk band, or The Strokes if the guitarist and bassist decided to play something worth a damn. I know most of you already are somewhat familiar with these albums, but I'm trying to promote more words in this thread, per tangy's request. |
Husker Du does not = Green Day. The Ramones, the Buzzcocks, etc. = Green Day.
Green Day was heavily influenced by them, they were even mentioned in GD's Behind the Music episode. |
Björk - Vespertine
Calexico - Feast Of Wire Mr Bungle - California dEUS - Pocket Revolution Ani DiFranco - So Much Shouting So Much Laughter I think I got sentimental and started listening to the records I've been whoring the most the past 5 years as a MXican. If I make it another 5 years, I should be considered as unlikely to be banned as Tim Duncan leaving The Spurs. |
Well they certainly sound nothing alike, so don't get people all misled.
Cat Power - The Greatest I think I like this more than You Are Free. The title track alone is worth the price of admission (which was $0 on soulseek).
I haven't heard that one yet. Isn't it a compilation? |
I've been listening to Danse Macabre by The Faint. I stumbled upon them today at my friend's house and I am in love with them. I love Glass Danse and The Conductor.

Jaga Jazzist. Absolutley in love with this band right now.

I've been listening to The Drovers, which is an irish folk/rock band from the 90's. Mostly for nostalgia. Back when I was a little kid, in the early-mid 90's, my mom really loved this band. I used to sing the songs (weither music was playing or not), and I distictly remember being at an outdoor concert of theirs when I was 4. It reminds me of being carefree and happy for no reason. Plus, the music really isn't that bad.
One day they came to our town, and my mom had heard word of where they were going to a party a few blocks away from us. So her and her friend went there, and found no one but the drovers there. So they were invited to my house, where cases of beer were sent over (it was in their contract), and they played with my brother's action figures. Crazy stuff. And this nostalgic music has caused me to listen to my dad's band's music, off their best CD. It's also irish/folk/rock sort of music that I've heard a million times. Every thursday I went to the drummer's house for my dad's band practice. We watched TV, but the sound was usually low or off. I remember listening to the music that was playing in the basement. I know every note of every song on this album. So what I've been diggin' lately? The Drovers The Willeys |
Melt Banana - Cell-Scape
and also a neat little somewhat-Sabbath-y throwback band called Witchcraft |
Burton Wagner - In the Realms of the Unreal.
Fantabulous, Subtle Dagger is a gifted child. |

Phish is right up there with Creed for the most boring band with a kickass guitarist. |
