How is it weird?

It's like shoegaze only good.
The women vocalist sounds sort of awkward and the music is really mythical and spacey. I don't know I can't really get into it.

Glitterati 05-24-2006 05:56 PM

Garden State - OST

If the movie is as good as the music, I may have to see this.

I watched the making of that last night. It's a pretty cool documentary.

Little Man being Erased 05-24-2006 08:16 PM

Yeah, that would be interesting. Wilco are a great band. I need to get some more of their stuff.

Amazing.

Iai 05-25-2006 05:27 PM

Elvis Costello

asymm 05-25-2006 06:33 PM

Food - Veggie

Robert Crumb 05-25-2006 06:41 PM

Young Black Teenagers - Young Black Teenagers
Gal Costa - Gal Costa
Mantronix - The Album
Herbert - Scale

I've been in a bit of an old school mood today. Young Black Teenagers is some nice late 80's stuff, solid Bomb Squad production. I've had this Mantronix album for a while, nice mid 80's electro. Raps are typical old-school, but the beats are where it's at. First experience with Gal Costa, she's the ****, too.

Breakfast 05-25-2006 06:43 PM

Depeche Mode

Tangy zizzle 05-25-2006 07:05 PM

Giant Drag
Black Heart Procession

Glitterati 05-25-2006 07:55 PM
Elvis Costello
Right on, man. I love Elvis.

Little Man's avatar made me realized I haven't listened to some Frank Sinatra in a long time, so I dug out my dad's old four disc set, "The Reprise Collection." Four discs of classic Sinatra tunes, complete with a big booklet and liner notes with a snazzy case too.

Jacaranda 05-25-2006 09:08 PM

Wolfmother - Wolfmother
Shall be seeing them tomorrow at Sasquatch so I'm preparing. So pumped.

Otherside 05-25-2006 09:11 PM

Bear vs. Shark.

Great band.

BillCosby 05-25-2006 09:16 PM

That band is terrible. Now you probably know by now that I don't pay much attention to lyrics, so they have to be really good or really bad to get me to notice them. The ones in "Mother" are definitely the latter. And the music is just recyclec Sabbath riffs without the attitude or ingenuity that made them so great in the first place.

asymm 05-26-2006 12:18 AM

Prefuse 73 - Read the Books EP
The Decemberists - The Tain EP

I Was A Kaleidoscope 05-26-2006 05:03 AM

Massive Attack - Mezzanine
This album is just so ****ing cool. Man.
I was walking home in the dark tonight listening to it and it was creepy as **** but I loved it.
I really need to check out their other stuff (I'll get Blue Lines or whatever soon)

They aren't anything new or ground breaking thats for sure but I wouldn't call them terrible. They are just fun which is why I like and listen to them.

XTC - Black Sea Fantastic. That about sums it up.

Little Man being Erased 05-26-2006 07:30 AM

Picked up these two today:

Gnarls Barkley - St. Elsewhere

On first listen it certainly lives up to praise that's been given to it around here and elsewhere. Really cool shit.

Frank Sinatra - Songs for Swingin' Lovers

'nuff said.

NineBitFable 05-26-2006 10:12 AM

it's an OK Computer day!

Robert Crumb 05-26-2006 11:14 AM

The Reverend Al Green.

biografiend 05-26-2006 11:49 AM

Stereolab - Emperor Tomato Ketchup This makes me feel happy.
Girl Talk - Night Ripper Mash up masterrrr.
Sufjan Stevens - A Sun Came more synthbased. sounds nothing like Illinois
Gang Gang Dance - God's Money <3 egypto-dance music. really good.
