My version of One on video is so ****ed. I got it off limewire, and it has a bunch of spots where there is no audio, and it freezes. :(

Important Question

who is better? joe satriani or kirk hammett? i know that joe gave 4(?) lessons to kirk back in 1983(?) and that since then kirk's solos have become progressively uncomplicated. but i'm willing to bet he's better now then 20 years ago. please discuss.

ThrashMaster27 01-22-2005 01:44 AM

Are you joking? Joe Satriani could wipe the floor with Kirk Hammett.

appreciate_it 01-22-2005 02:46 AM

yeah thats true. i like kirk and definatly after the old pictures i've seen of him, he's so awesome, but yeah, satriani is just..........satriani.

^Dream~Theater^ 01-22-2005 04:30 AM

Satch

btoto 01-22-2005 06:51 AM

Joe didn't give Kirk only 4 lessons. Kirk said in his interviews that he took lessons from Joe till 1987. About 2-3 lessons a year.
My favorite album is a tie between ...And Justice For All and Master of Puppets because they have the more songs that I like than any other albums. I'm leaning a little bit towards Justice because I LOVE all the songs on that album and on Master I don't like Leper Messiah.
Dude, Leper Messiah and TTTSNB are my favourite songs from that album. And they rock !

no but i heard their is a country version of four horsemen

anyone know it?

munky_magik 01-22-2005 09:23 AM

By far the best thing about that version is the inclusion of John Popper. That man is pure genius.

barclay 01-22-2005 09:25 AM

Why is the One video, and I'm assuming yall are talking about a music video, so creepy?

JACKROXYOU 01-22-2005 09:38 AM

yea it is weird

it fits the lyrics

if you want just metallica try the performance video

barclay 01-22-2005 10:20 AM

Well, I just went to watch the One video on LauchCast at Yahoo.com and it skipped alot because I have 56k connection, but here's what I got out of it. All those clips where from a movie right? Well what was wrong with that one dude with the cloth over his face? I read somewhere that this video got alot of contraversy because it had disturbing footage but it wasn't disturbing to me, I guess it would have been if the audio kept up with the video, lol.

The song and video are both based on a book(I forget what it is) about the attrocities of war. The clips in the vid are taken from the film of the book.

The "cloth" over the guy's face is a primitive ventilator. He was injured when stepping on a landmoine and lost the use of all of his limbs and is being kept alive in hospital, despite his wishes to die.

Joe 01-22-2005 10:33 AM
no but i heard their is a country version of four horsemen

anyone know it?
actually yes. there's a bluegrass tribute to metallica cd

Holy shit one live is so amazing. On MIAWTW tour, we had 2-3 minutes of explosions before james started the intro

Joe 01-22-2005 02:18 PM

^^i guess everyone has lives...i'm still here waiting for someone to post

fatbandit 01-22-2005 03:15 PM

I love the one video. The clips are from a film called Johhny Got A Gun as far as I know (at least, I think its Johnny). Its not creepy, its just... It sends a chill down my spine no matter how many times I see it, just for the ending... The way he can't communicate that he wants to die, and that he's just a hunk of meat with a pulse basically. Its deep. It seems to me Metallica did what they set out to, with their 'anti-video', and I dig it. Its certainly not a commercial, sell out video, like a lot of fans speculated.

But considering Metallica themselves said on a few occaisons they would never release a video clip (Least, that's what I think they said, or something similar?) most people would consider that selling out, or at least, trying to attract a bigger market, a market which is just for the money...

shadow_stalker 01-22-2005 03:23 PM

has anyone heard the apocalyptica album of metallica covers? its quite good

^Dream~Theater^ 01-22-2005 03:40 PM
