The lyrics in Emo confuse me a little.

Why leave when you claim it is love?
But why stay when you're not the only one?

Wouldn't it be, "Why stay when you are the only one"..?
This:
No, I think they mean the other person is cheating.
I think he means the boyfriend is cheating, too.

Reebok Commercial is an awesome song.

FauxApathy 12-05-2006 11:16 AM

Emo is probably my favorite blink song.

Up there with Man Overboard and Carousel anyway.

bottlerocket 12-05-2006 01:27 PM

SO SORRY
IT'S OVER

I don't care what they say in the interviews. That song was clearly written about their take on what happened with Scott.

From my understanding of it, I blame blink (Tom and Mark) mostly. Scott really did get a crappy wrap.

lunchforthesky 12-05-2006 01:33 PM

they kinda of marginalised him out really from what ive read. i bet hes plenty rich of dude ranch and cheshire cat sales now.

...But..Scott was with them when they wrote that song/album.

bottlerocket 12-05-2006 05:30 PM

When they wrote Man Overboard?

Whoops...lyric confusion!

I'm talking about Man Overboard, not I'm Sorry on Dude Ranch.

10571z 12-05-2006 06:33 PM

You cant know who to blame cause obviously we dont know the whole story about why Scott left. But I think you can count on Man Overboard being about Scott.

lunchforthesky 12-05-2006 06:36 PM

the opening to im sorry has some of the worst singing on any record i own.

its still an ace song though, blink can be proper crap and ace at the same time.

Ya, i love emo. I think some other overlooked Blink songs are Zulu, and Wrecked Him. I really like those songs.

DJ Ducksauce 12-05-2006 07:26 PM

Woo, Zulu is fun.

They need a B-Side release like A3 is doing.

lunchforthesky 12-05-2006 08:18 PM

his singing kills me on that song.

ive know idea how he got that on a major label.

Surtr 12-05-2006 09:08 PM

I love that song, especially the part where he just repeats "I'm Sorry" over and over.

MattSharpIsCool 12-05-2006 10:40 PM

I'm Sorry is a really cool song.

So is A New Hope....that one took awhile for me to embrace though.

Yeah, which I tried to convey with the random capitalization in the lyrics.

Tom's voice is awful but I love it.

Singing is about conveying some kind of emotion musically. Some people prefer "good" singers, but take a look:

Bob Dylan
Conor Oberst
Jimi Hendrix
Sting
Jesse Lacey
James Taylor

All not really good singers that just kept working and working at an original sound and are famous because of it. Not only that but everyone on that list (save Oberst) is regarded as a musical diety. :p

lunchforthesky 12-07-2006 10:52 AM

my favourite bands for pop punk are thursday, brand new, the early november, new found glory and jimmy eat world none of whom have a singer who can sing, especially thursday.

bottlerocket 12-07-2006 10:56 AM

The dude from The Early November can sing really well.

lunchforthesky 12-07-2006 11:10 AM
The dude from The Early November can sing really well.
You think so. i like his voice but i don think hes a good singer.

bottlerocket 12-07-2006 11:20 AM

I think he's a pretty good singer.

B 12-07-2006 01:08 PM

have you heard ICMAMLNB

because he sings really well

bottlerocket 12-07-2006 02:51 PM

Even the song "Something That Produces Results" showcases his voice.

Bad Blood 12-07-2006 03:11 PM
You think so. i like his voice but i don think hes a good singer.
what

lunchforthesky 12-07-2006 03:14 PM

ha i guess everyone disagrees with me.

Bad Blood 12-07-2006 03:16 PM

how can yyou like his voice

but

you dont think hes a good singer.

lunchforthesky 12-07-2006 03:19 PM

tom delonge is a bad singer in terms of his singing ability but i like blink and his voice.

bottlerocket 12-07-2006 04:26 PM

Conor Oberst is a "bad" singer, technique and training wise, but I like the way his voice sounds.

That as opposed to someone who's been vocally trained for years and has a "good" voice but you don't like the way it sounds.

Vocals are all about originality and just doing it the best you can.

lunchforthesky 12-07-2006 04:35 PM

completely agree. neither ace or conor are great technical singers but id rather have their own sound than be perfect singers.

10571z 12-07-2006 05:59 PM
my favourite bands for pop punk are thursday, brand new, the early november, new found glory and jimmy eat world none of whom have a singer who can sing, especially thursday.
Id disagree ... Id actually say all those bands are quite strong at singing compared to band's such as Set your Goals, Lawrence arms and against me. Jesse Lacey Is an awsome singer i think
