are you dead yet?is what i have heard, it kicks ***.

repcak 03-25-2006 06:10 PM

hm... yeah. Are you dead, yet? ... i talk about the album: its a "hard" release. the older albums are more classical.

i think, the best would be to buy "Hate Crew Deathroll"; its one of my favourites albums and it's more in the direction of "are you dead, yet"; its hard and not as classical as maybe FtR or Hatebreeder and Something wild.

but i don't know if you like classical things... if yes, go and get Follow the Reaper.

so, either "follow the reaper" or "Hate Crew Deathroll"?

repcak 03-25-2006 06:16 PM

yes, but it depends if you like classical elements (power metal); if you like more harsher/harder stuff like Are you dead, yet? get HCDR.

lets see what the other members (like MRDuCran, I'm Charmin, etc.) will say...

repcak 03-25-2006 06:32 PM

the fact is that Cob are getting harder and harder from album to album.

in Something wild there are a lot of parts by mozart etc.
Hatebreeder is very classical too!
Follow the Reaper has the best leads (and songs, imo)
Hate Crew Deathroll ... no classical elements anymore (not as much as in older albums), but the songs are all great!
Are you dead, yet? ... hm... i still don't know what to think about it. its not bad, but there is missing something ... but i don't know what.
I suggest trying what "I'm Charming" said, let the whole thing load, then watch it.
Or if you have Guitar Pro, you can get the tabs for the all exercises and the Vivaldi thing. Or I have the classical version of it.
Or I could rip the audio from the Demonstration 1 and 2, not the exercises, I cut that section out of my copy.
ive tried that, my computer is just old and slow.
i dont have guitar pro, dont you have to pay for that?

and if you could send me those vivaldi pieces, that would be great.
just let me know and ill post my email address

repcak 03-25-2006 06:39 PM

guitar pro is for free... like everthing on the internet :thumb:

Pits during Bodom aren't bad, then again I'm 6'3 215. haha. So it's all relative. Really though, they weren't insane or harmful. No one got bloodied or bones broken that I saw.

Slayer, I've always heard the pits are insane and violent. I've never seen them live though.

Be a man! :p

COBHC VANCITY 03-25-2006 10:21 PM

notice i said i CANT NOT be in the pit... meaing i really want to. pits kick ***, especially crowd surfing. during slayer, i dont want to get my nose broken, so maybe ill back out a bit, but i definitely wanna be on the floor for this show.

Shadows 03-25-2006 11:49 PM

Sure, if you're Jeff Loomis and can play everything imaginable behind your ass.

Wrong. If your a good guitarist your fine with 6.

Welcome to the forums! Good to see more CoB fans joining up. :thumb:

purgatory 03-26-2006 01:53 AM

I think it depends on how you use the seventh string.

Not really. It's all depending on what you play. I personally play a 6 string bass too, why? Because it opens up a larger range, and I love having that extra range.

Not really.

Invicta_Veritas 03-26-2006 02:17 AM

I have stated my opinion before.

6 string>7 string

retarded person playing 6 string>7 string
If your good, you don't need that extra range. It's just an excuse to "be heavy".

I can think of very few good guitarists that use 7 string guitars, I believe Petrucci does on some songs.

MRDuCran 03-26-2006 02:47 AM

Hey, COBHC VANCITY, what's your email, I'll send out the Passage to the Reaper and Vivaldi things...?

MRDuCran 03-26-2006 03:18 AM

You are correct.
If your good, you don't need that extra range. It's just an excuse to "be heavy".
That's not true at all. I simply want the extra range. Does that somehow make me a bad musician? I'm not getting this. 50% of why i'm getting it isn't even for metal.

Apocalyptic Raids 03-26-2006 03:27 AM
If your good, you don't need that extra range. It's just an excuse to "be heavy"
Not really...

Nile tune to Drop A or whatever the fuck. They might only use 6 strings, but if you're going to tune as low as they do, you could also say they're doing it to just to "be heavy". I don't think their low tunings add much to their music tbh.

Huber 03-26-2006 03:28 AM

Some riffs probably just sound better in lower tunings. What's wrong with that?

Apocalyptic Raids 03-26-2006 03:34 AM

Some riffs probably sound better on a 7 string too...
