lol, my dad shops at Sears. he still thinks its the 1970's or 80's when it was the hotspot. ok ok i get Trivium blows haha

rattlehead42147 12-10-2007 09:08 PM

I've never heard Exhumed, but i was sampling Gore Metal on itunes just now and I'm interested to hear them simply because of the production (especially on the guitars), it sounds really crunchy and full.

NemesisDivina 12-10-2007 09:23 PM

Dismember are ****ing great. I can't stop listening to Like An Everflowing Stream and The God That Never Was.

NP: Override of the Overture

pate 12-10-2007 09:25 PM

Damn right they are.

NemesisDivina 12-10-2007 09:28 PM

I'm not sure which one I like more at the moment.

But yeah, I counted up my plays and if all the tracks get scrobbled, I think Dismember is going to suddenly burst into my top 10 on last.fm

STFU

Tyler 12-10-2007 09:30 PM

My top Dismember albums always vary between LAES and TGTNW. Right now it's the latter.

NemesisDivina 12-10-2007 09:34 PM

Yeah, I'm just switching off between the two right now. I'm listening to The God That Never Was atm...

Any ideas on where to go next in terms of albums? I doubt any will top these two from what I've heard, but it's worth a shot since, you know... it's Dismember.

Tyler 12-10-2007 09:35 PM

massive killing capacity, go back like one page man yeesh.

NemesisDivina 12-10-2007 09:36 PM

Whoops, didn't see that. I'll check it out some time soon.

rattlehead42147 12-10-2007 09:37 PM

dude have I not been saying MKC? trust me its great, Cocaine will agree. It's worth it for I Saw Them Die and Hallucigenia is pretty sweet too.

BoboTheRagingHobo 12-10-2007 09:38 PM

I still need to buy The God That Never Was since I still haven't heard it yet.

But for me Mental Funeral and Severed Survival and the whole Bolt Thrower discography have been my death metal addiction.

Tyler 12-10-2007 09:39 PM

Hallucigenia > Most Dismember

rattlehead42147 12-10-2007 09:44 PM

I prefer Mental Funeral to Severed Survival. I own the digipack of SS, I really want the MF one.

pate 12-10-2007 09:45 PM

My favorite song on MKC is Casket Garden.

rattlehead42147 12-10-2007 09:49 PM

My play counts for it are 21 for I saw them die and then like 2 for the rest, so i need to go back and listen to it. I got kind of carried away by the first track. I did the same thing on testimony of the ancients, i couldnt get past The Secrecies of Horror and Twisted Truth for the longest time.
/listens to Casket Garden

They are both excellent albums, but I think Severed Survival pulls ahead for me because of the bass throughout the album and the song Service for a Vacant Coffin.

FatalEnergy 12-10-2007 09:50 PM

Digorgio ftw

pate 12-10-2007 09:51 PM

There's no I in team, but there are two in DiGiorgio.

FatalEnergy 12-10-2007 09:52 PM

There is three

very good points, Digiorgio is god. Although sometimes i wonder what it would have been like if Autopsy hired Victor Wooten to do SS :D
SS also has some of the greatest death metal lyrics ever, I ripped off the title track for a poetry project i'm not gonna lie.

@Fatal
Digiorgio ftw, but Sean Malone is better I think.

@pate
Casket Garden just finished, awesome song indeed.

Tyler 12-10-2007 09:53 PM

where's the mx epic fail avatar when you need it? not that lees avatar should be changed. ever.

pate 12-10-2007 09:54 PM

Epic fail!!!!!!!!!

Not to over analyze, but as a bass player, I've learned their parts for different bands.

Sadus stuff is very difficult to play, while Cynic is relatively easy except for Textures.

rattlehead42147 12-10-2007 09:58 PM

so you play fretless then? watch the Textures live @ Berkeley vid, Seans solo is even more technical live

I really want to like Sadus, but other than the song Certain Death its like nothing is all that memorable.

SS also IMO has some of the best death metal production as well. Sounds so dirty and ugly, fits the music perfectly.

Digiorgio and Malone are both awesome since they both have their unique sound and play styles. Both of them are excellent songwriters as well, so they are both on the same level in my book.

NP - Bolt Thrower - The Shreds Of Sanity
so you play fretless then?
Yes sir. Yeah, I have some bootleg where he goes off and does a bunch.

As far as actual technical songwriting and playing within a song I'd say DiGiorgio has him beat.

They're both great though.

rattlehead42147 12-10-2007 10:04 PM

Steve's Sadus stuff was just kind of forgettable to me. It's technically stunning, but his days with Death and Autopsy will always be his peak for me.

FatalEnergy 12-10-2007 10:05 PM

If you want to hear some really impressive bass playing of his, listen to Dark Hall. They have the demo on their site for download.

Aakon_Keetreh 12-10-2007 10:07 PM

Blotted Science btw
