fIREHOSE

fIREHOSE don't get enough credit. They may forever live in Minutemen's shadow, but they're still pretty damn good. George Hurley really shines with them.
I like Ed Crawford's style.

I dont claim to be "Indie" or anything but The Exit kicks ***. As does Grandaddy

Ragin' Full-On is one of my top 10 favorite cd's of all time. George Hurley is also my favorite drummer of all time. Go fIREHOSE.

A vinyl copy of it is floating around somewhere in the US mail system trying to find it's way to my house.

I need to hear that. Boris rules.

Get Down Moses is so great.

He has a great hairdo.

I've had "Nothing Is A Switch" by The Mint Chicks stuck in my head all the time. What a fun song. If anyone could reccomend me anything similar, I would be very pleased.

The Cure - Faith
I really love this album, I think it's one of the more overlooked Cure albums.

Thelonious Monk Quartet with John Coltrane - At Carnegie Hall
Art Blakey - Moanin' (thanks Zappa)
Imogen Heap (desperate to get one of her albums)

X-Cops - You have The Right To Remain Silent...

This is basically the 95' incarnation of GWAR and maybe two others as as, you guessed it, ex-cops. All were discharged from the force for horrible acts, even horrible for a cop....and they get away with almost anything. But yeah it's good fun metal. I like it alot I'd recomend it to fans of GWAR or metal or punk or thrash or anything of the like or sandwiches.

Today I've discovered the greatness of the Allman Brother's album Eat A Peach. It's truely a masterpiece.

ATM 01-07-2006 02:47 PM

Battles!

They are a local band for me (DC). Very cool melodies, with lots of loops. The drumming is very tight as well. I highly reccomend them.

Great Music. I have had the 'Cut' album for some time but never got into it.
The drums have a nice thud to them. Sometimes the lyrics are chanted making the whole reggae/tribal music sound more enchanting.

Today I've been listening to Mott The Hoople.

Anxious 01-07-2006 08:09 PM

Emo.

Indian Summer
Embrace
Rites of Spring
I Hate Myself

thats my week.

moderaterock222 01-07-2006 08:44 PM

are embrace really considered emo?

Anxious 01-07-2006 08:46 PM

The Embrace I'm thinking of. Not the brit-pop one, the D.C. one, I believe so, yes.

moderaterock222 01-07-2006 08:53 PM

ah..i got mixed up

Anxious 01-07-2006 08:55 PM

Its evil that that band took the originals name. Even if they didn't know it at the time.

moderaterock222 01-07-2006 08:56 PM

i actually quite like the brit-pop embrace so i don't care:p

Anxious 01-07-2006 08:56 PM

Well then they should change their name to Brit-pop Embrace.

Daniel! 01-07-2006 11:21 PM

Against Me! - Cavalier Eternal
Fugazi - Furniture

They're both 7" vinyls that came in the mail today. The Against Me! one is fantastic.
