I did just put a really nice sweep in a solo of mine thoug (of course, it's just a 4 note upstroke lol)....sounds badass....

kurrpt 03-24-2006 01:03 PM

sweet man. I really havent written anything that involves sweeps

Invicta_Veritas 03-24-2006 01:08 PM
sweet man. I really havent written anything that involves sweeps
I thought it sounded cool, and I was sick of doing the same things with the same pentatonic scale, so I threw in an upstroke sweep (the only thing I can do).

kurrpt 03-24-2006 01:11 PM

learn some new scales, or some modes then man. If you are "getting bored" with pentatonics, check out rusty cooleys, or shawn lanes videos on that particular subject

Forlorn Hope 03-24-2006 02:28 PM

If it's not a hassle could you send the sweeping exercise to me as well?
three_over_one@msn.com

kurrpt 03-24-2006 03:03 PM

it was actually string skipping, alternate pick exercise, but if you want a few sweeps, im sure i could hook you up

kurrpt 03-24-2006 03:06 PM

i sent 2, 5 string sweeps

I'm Charming 03-24-2006 04:43 PM

This could really help me as well. I'd like a copy if you had time to send it. :thumb:
I need to work on sweeps.

Props to Che for helping everyone out.

I am so excited about the upcoming Hot Topic tour, some of my favorite bands are on it. Bodom isn't my priority there though :-(

repcak 03-24-2006 05:01 PM

Slayer? I'd kill to see Slayer live.

I've already seen Bodom though I'd love to again. Lamb Of God is sick live as well.
Mastodon is pretty sweet as well.

Thine Eyes Bleed is pathetic though.

The tour should be called,

"Hot Topic Finally Did Something Right: Get it while it's in stock"

Hahaha :p

Although, I'm not a huge thrash fanatic (Slayer might be a pretty fun show, though)...but Thine Eyes Bleed and Lamb of God??? Go -core yourself.

I would, however, be pretty stoked to see Mastodon live. Brann Dailor is a fucking beast.

A REAL show? Yeah, I'm seeing DragonForce at the New England Metal & Hardcore fest in a few weeks. Beat that :p

If you want Passage to the Reaper, search on google video.

If you want live, just wait for their first one that comes out soon, they shot it on their last tour.

I don't think they have realised their live dvd yet, and I think the video your talking about with Alexi/Roope playing Vivaldi is Passage to the Reaper and I think you can only get that with the Young Guitar magazine or by downloading it.

Pause the video until it loads all the way. :thumb: Try that if you haven't.

The only part I know is the first minute or so, and it's really easy, at least for me.
The second half looks difficult as far as I can remember cause they're picking pretty fast, since it clocks in at 265bpm.
oh yeah google video. well anyway my computer is much too slow to watch those. the sound is always 2 steps ahead of the image. oh well. can it be downloaded as an audio file?
I suggest trying what "I'm Charming" said, let the whole thing load, then watch it.
Or if you have Guitar Pro, you can get the tabs for the all exercises and the Vivaldi thing. Or I have the classical version of it.
Or I could rip the audio from the Demonstration 1 and 2, not the exercises, I cut that section out of my copy.

AA-12 03-25-2006 02:30 AM

What do you guys think is the most fun song to play by Nile?

I'm Charming 03-25-2006 03:21 AM
What do you guys think is the most fun song to play by Nile?
I'll say Lashed To The Slave Stick but that's the only one I know or have tried.

MRDuCran 03-25-2006 04:26 AM

Even though this is a CoB thread, I'll vote for Sacrifice Unto Sebek, the song frikken RULES!imo.

repcak 03-25-2006 06:05 AM

@Che Guevara: do you have some string skipping exercises too?! if yes, can you send them too? thanks. repcak@gmx.at
What do you guys think is the most fun song to play by Nile?
The Burning Pits of the Duat. It kills the wrist, but it's really fun to play.

Isn't that the one that Karl said was painful to learn? I always wondered how playing a song could be so physically painful.

Stoo 03-25-2006 05:07 PM

Did CoB tour Britain recently?

Alex 03-25-2006 05:51 PM
