yea I know, but there musicians. There job is to make music... not make one cd wait 6 years and make another. What are they doing for those six years? From 1963 to 1970 The Beatles released at least one album a year, and pretty much every album they've made is considered great. I just think there slacking. Anything over four years for an active band/musician is too long.
Maynard James Keenan is possessed beyond his own control to create what he feels is a perfect album; therefore he takes as long as he can to meticulously go over every song and make sure it's exactly as he wants it to be. That's why "eMOTIVE" should have been a total insult to his fans; it felt half-assed and uninspired.
One of my favourite bands are already out GSY!BE
I was one of like, four people to vote for them. |
I was one of like, four people to vote for them.
You're looking at the second of the four. |
Ray, do you like Tool?
|
I can't say I like or hate them...I used to really like them, but then I went for a long period of time without even listening to them, and now I find it hard to get into them again.
|
( ) is meant to be the sigur ros album to get.
I amy have to check out GSY!BE |
I see. I get that sometimes too, I can only listen to a single band so many times. Hopefully the new album will deliver and rekindle my interest a little more.
Sigur Ros is beautiful. |

Sigur Ros is beautiful.
Agreed with the whole post.
( ) is meant to be the sigur ros album to get. I amy have to check out GSY!BE
Yes, you have to. If you like Post Rock at all, GYBE is a necessity. |
I've had every intention of picking up ( ) but I there's always something higher up on the list. I should really just break down and buy it one day.
|
They complain about tool fanboys but Id say no regular here is a fanboy. Just a bucnh of decent tool fans
|
Can someone define post rock for me? I mean, wtf, how can you have post rock when rock is still being created.
@above- The majority of Tool fans here are either the lurkers or n00bs. /recalls album competition Or from a different forum all together. :p |
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Post_rock
there you go jake |
All I say is, look at the posting habits of the morons who bash tool, and then do the same with those who say things like 'Not a big fan of tool...', or 'I just dont find their music interesting'. (which is the correct way to express an opinion).
Im betting the first will be another genre forum reg, and the second being a R&M reg. Preps to YDload as well for giving the first intelligent comment in that thread |
Post rock= Bands that use rock insturmentation to create music that is non-rock
Is that basically what it is? |
Yes is simple terms. :)
|
Post rock= Bands that use rock insturmentation to create music that is non-rock
Is that basically what it is?
My idea of Post Rock is atmospheric, moody, dynamic lead, progressive brilliance. But I might be biased |
Quit whining Ben and let it pass...Tool will oen that poll anyway...
Nick just hates the way that all the fan boys are like 0mgz tool are amazing, and by the reactions in the thread he kinda has a point. He has expressed an opinion and everyone is ranting. |
Meh, its his opinion really, it didnt bother me that much.
This is the internet, lets not get worked up about what some stranger thinks about your favorite band :) |
I would take what he said as more of compliment--Tool is a band that needs no introduction! ;)
|
Im allowed a moan or two, its only the internet after all.
Besides, im more focusing on whether the Black mages and Deftones get through in this round. (im still bitter that mogwai are out though) |
i dunno if im immature (probably) but i find tool fans to be BORING, everyone thinks they have to be talking like a scholar all the damn time, i think we should lighten up, i remember when my user title said TOOL SUCKS BALLS!!! everyone in here got all pissy about that...maybe its me.

You're right though, tool fans suck. (And what did the swear filter alter that to again?) People who like tool dont. |
LOL meh i have to go, you guys discuss faiths point of view, hope their something educating to read whne am back
|
He didn't express his opinion, really. He basically said that Tool sucked and are overrated, which is not an opinion, but a forced thought upon someone else. I agree AGAIN with one Ben said about how to express your opinion in the correct manner. While I do get what Iai was trying to say, he really didn't do it in the most fair way. I mean, he is running the poll, and he's really not supposed to be biased, but I recall in his mini synopsis of HIM saying THEY SUCK, TEHY SHOULDN"T BE ON THIS LIST.
Oh well, in the end, Tool will win anyways, and we can all point and laugh at the people that are angry about it. In the mean time, I shall be spouting my new-found Porcupine Tree fanboyism as often as I feel needed. |
I'm a Tool fan and i have the brain of an 8 year old.
|
TOOL bites the turkey!!!!!, haha that was great
|

You too? Must be the season for people to get bitten by the Steven Wilson bug /ninja edit |
Now you're just spamming
EDIT: @ faith |
God, you people and your trends.
/is seeing PT again in december |
They should put a disclaimer on their albums- WARNING: This album has side effects, including diahrrea, upset stomach, and extreme(I mean we're talking wicked hXc here) addiction to this music.
 And about Tool fans being boring- There are 2 types of Tool fans- The goth idiots who like Tool because they poke fun at religion and other organized evil things, and because they are SOO HEAVY ZOMG! The other kind are the intillectual musician-type fans who appreciate Tool for their intillicualness and their musicianship. The majority of us here are the latter. |
God, you people and your trends.
Now you're just spamming
AJIG asked me what my title was changed too, that is spamming how?
|
Jake did you listen to Russia on Ice yet?
Oh man, I love that song. The solo kicks so much ***. |
Would anyone like some more PT, as I have the discography?
|
Oh man, I love that song.
The solo kicks so much ***.
It quickly entered my top songs of all time when I listened to it. faith - Oh, sorry, I didn't see that you were answering a question. |
Would anyone like some more PT, as I have the discography?
Sure. I'd really like In Absentia. |
I raised my hand enthusiastically for the XM2 stuff, damn you!
