Vote 4 Tool in the
Ultimate Modern Rock Band Poll Round 1 Group C
in the Rock & Metal Forum
lol at Iai showing his complete unbiased attitude towards the two bands I want to vote for.

I hope Tool destroy the alt/indie bands in there

TheSubtleArts 08-03-2005 10:15 AM

I hate the bad impression people have on Tool fans in these forums. Fanboys and such.

El_Goodo 08-03-2005 10:16 AM

How is that Tool is so highly praised? They've made three cd's over about 10 years. They seem pretty lazy to me. Unless there's a good reason it took so long. I dunno I just can't seem to get into them, on one song I heard, the singer sounded like a young woman.

I think it's because they make quality music. It's good music. Just because they don't release an album every year doesn't mean it isn't good.

I'll have to try the Tab thing on Dissectional.

El_Goodo 08-03-2005 11:10 AM

yea I know, but there musicians. There job is to make music... not make one cd wait 6 years and make another. What are they doing for those six years? From 1963 to 1970 The Beatles released at least one album a year, and pretty much every album they've made is considered great. I just think there slacking. Anything over four years for an active band/musician is too long.

They spend that time making quality music, instead of releasing tons of crappy material, it's all good material.

And the Beatles have nothing to do with Tool, sorry.

They aren't slacking. They are taking their time.

In those six years, the members keep themselves busy. Maynard has A Perfect Circle, Danny has VOLTO! and Pygmy Love Circus, Adam has a wife, and Justin runs a store in LA.

They are taking their time to make great music.

End of discussion.

Just shut up.

Syncratic 08-03-2005 12:14 PM

I just got into Dream Theater myself....awesome stuff, I love Scenes from A Memory.

Anywho, anybody ever been to markprindle.com and checked out his Tool reviews?

It's good for a laugh or two........

Is it wrong to think bands should be making music? You dumb ****. But otherwise thanks to Maynard James Keenan for a good response.

If you like wacked out and insane you should listen to Mike Patton's E.P. with The Dillinger Escape Plan. Some of the stuff is like musical genius and some is just friggin' chaotic with a capital K.

HighVoltageRockandRoll: You should realize that Tool may like giving the fans their best and they don't like to force stuff because they want to put out a great record everytime.

You sound like such an idiot. Think about what you're saying before you start saying things that make you look foolish.

You speak as though other musicians don't take their time to release albums. Steve Miller had a huge hit with Fly Like an Eagle, and waited 3-5 years to release another album.

Tool is too good for me to ever criticize. ;) You must think outside of the box you dweeb.

I couldn't never find that one...
Could you give it to me over aim or something? I'll give you an album or two for it.

Moses 08-03-2005 12:22 PM

I don't have all the songs on it but I have some to give you an idea. There's only like 5 songs on it anyway. What's your AIM? TDEP is the best band for chaotic stuff.

There's gonna be loads of anti tool comments floating around during these polls, we've been through it before though.

And on a nicer topic, y'all read about Danny doing a No Quarter performance with some random people at a show recently?. Nothing really relevant in the latest update, but at least its slightly band related for a change

Rothmans 08-03-2005 01:07 PM

I dont really think tool are rock though :/

Rock is such an open ended term though. Plus they were left out of the metal polls, so its justice this way.

Unless im wrong, Mogwai are gone too.

Post rock is overlooked by the R&Mers.

Look at Iai's comments for an indication. The alt/indie elitists will worm their way over to moan at some point too. Its funny though, with all his tool bitching, just take a look at the first few pages of this thread.

Oh, and if you havent voted yet people, vote for Black mages or Deftones, they'll need it more than Tool

Ahhhh, THEY were the ones! I knew 28 Days Later had a post rock soundtrack, I have In the House, In a Hearbeat on my comp, but I didnt know who did it.

Is that song a one off, or is it on one of their albums?

Plain and simple. Personally, it's my second favorite genre.

Same here.

By the way did you like Neurosis in the end?

Kage 08-03-2005 01:30 PM

Yeah, they're awesome. I have yet to find a band in that style that I don't like, although I still haven't gotten extensively into them because I've been too busy with Pelican (seeing them tonight at 8!) and Isis, etc.

Moses 08-03-2005 01:31 PM

I'm the same way when it comes to different genre's in music. I really can find good music in all genre's.

Ah that would be so good to see.

Syncratic 08-03-2005 01:40 PM

I've been meaning to get into Godspeed You! Black Emperor and Sigur Ros...any suggestions as to what albums are good for people who want to get into them?
