Ghoul Hustler 05-05-2008 10:19 PM

Aakon_Keetreh 05-05-2008 10:22 PM

I beat it, the choice at the end is vital of course. make sure you choose the best one.
yea metal has pretty much sucked since the Black album. Too much screaming/growling/death growling/etc. Everyone keeps trying to get harder and harder, you cannot even make out guitar/bass parts anymore. It's all muffled, overdriven, and stupid. Orion is a great metal song, Creeping Death is a great metal song, the Trooper is a great metal song. It's happening in all forms of music. Nickelback, Hinder, Seether, they all suck. 99% of new rap is just club garbage. Nobody is saying anything anymore, or experimenting, or moving forward, or innovating. All forms of popular music are becoming more pretentious and cookie cutter format by the day. It's sad. Which is why I basically only listen to music created before 1995 save jam bands, there's some good ones out there. Not because I am "close minded" I would love to turn on a top 40 radio station and have a song move me, or inspire me. It's not happening though, so you have to look back and delve deep to find the cream.
How is it any different now from 1990? All throughout metal's existence one important factor has been getting heavier and heavier. Metal has been pushed as far as it can go.

Besides, this thread's fast becoming like watching Jerry Springer. If you guys wanna carry on shouting back and forth then take it to the community thread or something. This is getting tedious.

Malfeitor 05-06-2008 05:12 AM

Stevie you can't expect much else of this thread.
Um how does that mean that account is Austin?
You don't know what Morbid Ceremony is, do you?
Stevie you can't expect much else of this thread.
It would be much better with only mature black metal fans of your sort.

then ****ing leave

Ghoul Hustler 05-06-2008 06:09 AM

Hey Malfeitor. Bring up something to talk about and i'll be happy to discuss it. I'm not trying to troll or anything, I just want to start talking music in this thread.

RetiredAt21 05-06-2008 06:44 AM

Wow, I missed a lot yesterday.

1338 h4x0r 05-06-2008 07:05 AM

So gice wuts yr fvrt Summoning album?

RetiredAt21 05-06-2008 07:46 AM

None of them.

np: Forest - By The Roar Of The Hammer's Call

Stevie II 05-06-2008 07:59 AM
So gice wuts yr fvrt Summoning album?
Dol Guldur ftw

but then they're all good. What do you think of Lugburz? I don't like it too much - too much "standard" black metal. Nothing unique.

1338 h4x0r 05-06-2008 08:04 AM

Haven't heard it tbh

My favorite overall is Let Mortal Heroes Sing Your Fame, for its consistency. Their best tracks were on Oath Bound, but it also had some meh, where Let Mortal Heroes Sing Your Fame was solid.

but now that you mention Dol Guldur, I feel like Sieg Heiling the track Khazad-dûm again.

Stevie II 05-06-2008 08:07 AM

yeah

lugburz has a different drummer to the rest who plays fast and so that atmosphere of summoning isn't created. it's more pure black metal than later summoning. i only recently got let heros and stronghold so i'm not too familiar with them yet, but there's some great stuff on stronghold definitely. track 5 (?) i think with female vocals is superb

A very good example of the medieval and military cadences (that, I guess you'll agree, define a lot of the Summoning atmosphere) is Our Foes Shall Fall, which is on LMHSYF. It's my favorite track on that album.

Aye, I'll listen to it later. Khazad Dum which you mentioned is probably my favorite from Summoning

1338 h4x0r 05-06-2008 08:19 AM

I'm Sieg Heiling Rhûn right now. It's a strange track because I always compared the Easterlings in the book to Vietnamese people and this song sounds nothing like Vietnamese music.

RetiredAt21 05-06-2008 09:15 AM

My girlfriend is Vietnamese.

Nostalgia 05-06-2008 12:06 PM

Haha, you like Summoning, Stevie? THat's surprising. We usually discuss in the Folk / Viking thread, but oh well.

Khazad Dum is my favorite Summoning song, but I like the majority off Oath Bound as well.

dinosaurxbrocore 05-06-2008 12:09 PM

Khazad Dum is indeed elitery

I'm not a big folk/viking fan so I don't really have much to say at all in that thread, so I don't go in there...

Nostalgia 05-06-2008 12:14 PM

I know. But I'm just saying Summoning is usually discussed in there because people call it **** non-black metal and there are arguments. That's all. '

But yeah, continue.

Stevie II 05-06-2008 12:34 PM

lol yeah

Stormrider 05-06-2008 01:02 PM
I kind of liked it. The lyrics are pretty cool. I loved the atmospheric elements. The vox are LOL though.
Nothing lol worthy about the vocals. That EP is excellent.
track 5 (?) i think with female vocals is superb
Where Hope and Daylight Dies is one of my least favorite Summoning songs if not my least. :p
I ALWAYS skip that one...

Stevie II 05-06-2008 01:21 PM

heh, i very rarely skip songs....even if its "you shook me" on led zeppelin, i'll sit through it to the bitter end >:-[
