Forlorn Hope 01-18-2006 10:16 AM

I've been trying to get actual CD's instead of burning. Which is why I asked for all of Children Of Bodom's CD's for my birthday...

Plus, i'm tired of looking at my CD rack and seeing nothing but the crap I used to listen to before I got into Metal.
I also buy CDs that I downloaded if I really like the band. I support the bands I like, and I don't buy much of anything for the bands I don't, anyway.
:thumb: i agree, i do the same

Dimmu Borgir DCA and PEM
In Flames STYE
that is really great stuff :chug: . the last 4 cds I bought are 4 Dimmu Borigir - For All Tid, Enthrone Darkness Triumphant, Spiritual Black Dimensions and Death Cult Armageddon.

Britton 01-18-2006 12:49 PM

I own about 60 to 70 CD's (that I've bought) and about 170 that I have got from friends/downloaded.

I buy CD's from bands that don't have major record labels. Cause they get money that way. But the real way to support a band is by going to the shows
and buying their T-Shirts and stuff like that.

I go to shows and pick up a shirt. That's how I support bands.

Good stuff.

I buy whenever possible, but metal can be hard to find sometimes, so I download a lot. I own well over 100 albums and about another 100 on my computer. I go to shows, buy merch and CD's, and order stuff online when I can, so I think I'm supporting the bands.

I'm Charming 01-18-2006 06:42 PM

My life philoshify (besides improving my spelling) is free stuff.

I don't steal from stores. Nothing like that.

Just a good ol freebie.... Like 14.59 GB of music... yah... :thumb:

I actually find a lot of bands just by buying their albums. I don't understand how so many of you people find all the bands you like.

It's a little something called mx.

I was in the store yesterday contemplating whether or not to buy an album of a band I'd never heard of. I realized I was too jewish to risk my money like that so I got Demons & Wizards.

If I see something and think it looks neat.... I come home and hop on ISOHUNT and find out.

Plus I have regular file sharing buddies VIA AIM. :thumb:

I read around, use metal archives, take suggestions from others, and download anything that looks like it may be interesting. Mx has played a huge role in what I listen to. Without it, I never heard of any of the music I like now, so I guess I owe my whole musical future to those who have introduced me to metal around here. :)

King_Of_Terrors 01-18-2006 09:59 PM

Same here.

Except I already knew about Symphony X, Sonata Arctica, and Jag Panzer.

They were my first metal bands...not Slipnut for me, bitches!

The Sandman 01-18-2006 11:47 PM

Purely out of interest, does anyone have the tabs to Extreme Pentatonics by Rusty Cooley?

If anyone does, could they please send it to me? I would be eternally grateful if someone could.

You did confess that you thought brad from linkin park was god with the guitar when you were younger.

Slipknot > Linkin Park

There is a thread in the guitar forum which has links to that book and many more. It shouldn't be hard to find.

http://img8.imageshack.us/img8/7060/headswing18eb.gif

Shattered_Future 01-19-2006 02:18 PM

I got some shirts yesterday. Hooray for supporting! :)

I've bought CDs purely by word of mouth...9 times out of 10, it turns out to be a good idea.

I would like the passage to the reaper video as well por favor.

MRDuCran 01-19-2006 03:21 PM

I can't believe you guys haven't seen it.

Shadows 01-19-2006 03:40 PM

I've seen it. I lost it when my computer crashed. I asked for someone to send it and nobody did, so I'm assuming either nobody has it or all the regulars here are selfish bastards.

Britton 01-19-2006 03:43 PM

I have one little 15 minute clip

MRDuCran 01-19-2006 03:52 PM

I have a cut down version that I made myself of just the Vivaldi example and the jam thing if anyone wants that. It DOESN'T have him playing everything slow because I didn't need it.

Britton 01-19-2006 04:05 PM

Hmm I guess I'll take it.

Is there a tab for it?

also I'm trying to set this as the backround for my myspace

http://www.viciouscircle.fr/images%20boutique/bt-children-of-bodom-hate-a.gif

But I need it to be much bigger and I have to clue how to re-format GIF files....help?

MRDuCran 01-19-2006 04:08 PM

If you don't want it I won't bother uploading it.
There is a Guitar Pro tab of the Vivaldi thing but not the jam.
I don't know how to resize gifs but you can just search for Children of Bodom on Google images and see if there's one similar.

IheartSP 01-19-2006 04:24 PM

Wow they really hate me over in the Power Metal thread...

First I get yelled at for trying to plead my case that Iced Earth is closer to Thrash (melodic stuff like Metallica not raw stuff like Slayer) than Power Metal. Then Lord Abortion says "my opinion sucks" for not liking Blaze Bailey in Iron Maiden.
