You're not being very nice. Bet you didn't see my last post in the community thread coming, now did ya?

LifeInABox 07-11-2007 10:46 PM

Stop asking for this to be closed. The height of spam has been hit and passed already and if this was to be closed, it would have been.

Yeah, this is really annoying me. You recommended me into Today Is The Day though, so thank you.
Not as good as Doom.
Doom is nowhere near as good as Genesis.

i am the robots 07-11-2007 10:52 PM

Genesis is fucking boring after a week. The songs on Doom actually have character to them, rather than rehashing everything that's ever been done in death metal. The balance of melody and brutality was a great aspect, and Johnny's vocals were a lot more varied. Also, no shitty solos.

Overall, Doom is a lot more of an interesting, more versatile album, that has a lot more emotion behind it, end.

LifeInABox 07-11-2007 10:54 PM

It was bland garbage that was made to sound just like the fads and scene. Genesis is at least not meant to be scene, even if you think it is boring. It's a better sound for the band, overall.
Except Slipknot started death metal.

I hope that was a joke about Slipknot.
Stop asking for this to be closed. The height of spam has been hit and passed already and if this was to be closed, it would have been.
It's not because of the spam, but rather because most of the bands mentioned in this thread arent metalcore.

i am the robots 07-11-2007 10:56 PM

I agree with Concubine though.

Also, Hbp...

WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?

Doom was an album that had the identity of what the band was trying to play to it, Andrew left and Elliot left, and now the music's changed. Genesis is just boring, it's a rehash of every other death metal album before it.

LifeInABox 07-11-2007 10:59 PM

Yes but I think it was more of what JFAC is instead of Doom, which was really a scene EP when it boils down to it. It was made to capitalized on the fad, which Genesis wasn't.

i am the robots 07-11-2007 11:41 PM

Maybe you don't understand. Most of the songs on Doom were written around 2004/2005, that was the hayday of the faux-metalcore trend, when Doom was a new release, everybody was all like HELL YEAH, AS I LAY DYING! WOOO SHADOWS FALL!

Besides, Doom's not a metalcore recording, neither is Genesis. Here's on topic JFAC discussion: the demo showed promise in the songwriting department, but was pretty sloppy and the drumming was terrible.

Still not pertinent to metalcore discussion, you're derailing your own point. Back to metalcore.

So I have a serious question. Are any fucking bands metalcore anymore? People have become so wrapped up in "well, they do this or that" or "they have hints of this or that" "so that makes them hardcore or post thrash or something else" and blah blah blah.

I remember when the general group of bands, including Shadows Fall, Unearth, All That Remains, 36 Crazyfists, etc. were all accepted as metalcore. Now it seems that has all gone away, and we've started overanalyzing every band to exclude it from the genre. So now we have a complete genre redefinition, and I'm confused.

i am the robots 07-12-2007 01:45 AM

Well I was saying that the JFAC demo was metalcore, but it sucked because of the drumming.

Overall, metalcore's a combo of metal and hardcore, it's always been, just when that stuff was big, stupid kids threw the label on it and didn't understand what it meant.

LifeInABox 07-12-2007 07:42 AM

Shadows Fall is Thrash, Unearth and All That Remains are Metalcore, and I havn't heard 36 Crazyfists.

What about:

Converge
Botch
Killswitch Engage
Poison The Well
Integrity
All the Generic crap

encmetalhead 07-12-2007 08:37 AM

this should get renamed metalcore/deathcore

i perfer KSE over the other bands you mentioned

hate shadows fall though

LifeInABox 07-12-2007 08:41 AM

They're thrash anyway, so this is the wrong thread for them. There really isn't such thing as Deathcore. It's just Death Metal/Metalcore.

MagicNinjaMatt 07-12-2007 08:49 AM

The only bands that I kinda digg that might fall under this category are Parkway Drive, and Dillinger Escape Plan.

encmetalhead 07-12-2007 08:55 AM

True but it can't really be Metalcore since they's no clean vocals and the like

2muchket! 07-12-2007 08:56 AM

Death Metal/Hardcore is liking saying Metal/Hardcore. Just use the term deathcore.

Speaking of crappy Deathcore I now hate TTEOTD. And they used to be one of my favourite bands. Why the hell did Anthony have to leave ?

Concubine 07-12-2007 09:04 AM
True but it can't really be Metalcore since they's no clean vocals and the like
wrong

most metalcore bands don't even sing

RetiredAt21 07-12-2007 09:04 AM

Stop talking about faggy bands. Listen to Integrity, fools.

LifeInABox 07-12-2007 09:06 AM

But alot do. Death Metal/Metalcore hybrids usually come out sounding like Melodic Death Metal with breakdowns anyway.

RetiredAt21 07-12-2007 09:07 AM

This thread makes me want to stop listening to metalcore.

Apocalyptic Raids 07-12-2007 09:08 AM

I proclaim this thread the second worst ever.
I proclaim this thread the second worst ever.
Yeah, these lame kids pretty much ruined it.

Transient 07-12-2007 09:09 AM

You shouldn't have been listening to metalcore in the first place Justin.

LifeInABox 07-12-2007 10:17 PM

Wow, someone please change the fact that in the review site Between The Buried And Me is Metalcore.

i am the robots 07-13-2007 12:28 AM

Why? The first two albums have a lot of hardcore influence, whilest Alaska might not.
