I dunno, I dig Brown's stuff, but purely as entertainment. Not much insight in those for me to digest, y'know. It's just... unfulfilling.
It's pretty cool, great album.
awesome.

Jody LeCompte 07-12-2006 10:25 PM

Man, hitting the jazz club kicked so much ***.

There was a talent scout there and I made an *** of myself.

bottlerocket 07-12-2006 10:28 PM

Erik: I just don't think he's that great, that's all. :p

Jcs: Actually, I'm thinking about switching schools and doing Music Performance.

e p: Yeah, Fight Club's really really good.

I'm off to bed. Night!

ebe9 07-12-2006 10:29 PM

FINALLY

Crikey, I have been trying to get into these forums all week, thank goodness they are back up and running.

I have been missing my daily dose of MX and going through severe withdrawl symptoms. It got so bad that I almost did not pick up and play bass for this entire week (I fought the urge not to play and succeeded).

Anyway, how is everyone?

Jody LeCompte 07-12-2006 10:30 PM

I never feel like playing bass anymore...

Solo bass bores me so bad, and theres no one to play with around here

Moon Flavor 07-12-2006 10:30 PM

I understand music, but music PERFORMANCE? YOU?!

:p jk

PaulSimonon 07-12-2006 10:31 PM

I don't really solo when I play by myself, I just groove.

Jody LeCompte 07-12-2006 10:32 PM

I can't get into playing by myself and I find when I try to force myself I end up hating the instrument.

Moon Flavor 07-12-2006 10:33 PM
I can't get into playing by myself and I find when I try to force myself I end up hating the instrument.
Stop trying then

PaulSimonon 07-12-2006 10:34 PM

Yeah dude, start playing for the sheer joy of musical expression instead of forcing it.

Jody LeCompte 07-12-2006 10:35 PM

If I only played everytime I actually felt like playing...

Heh...anyone want to buy my bass?

da_s_man13 07-12-2006 10:35 PM

No, but ill take your Eden off your hands for ya.
I can't get into playing by myself and I find when I try to force myself I end up hating the instrument.
I have also been getting a little bored just being a bedroom bassist, but hope to cure that with............TADA

Finally being able to record decently.

I now have all the gear I was waiting for.

- EBS MicroBass Preamp Pedal
- Soundcraft Compact 4 Mixer

Great, little setup, I shall post pics fairly soon and hopefully have some recording up for the weekend for people to listen to and puke in disgust at afterwards.

Jody, have you considered maybe taking Bass in a different direction, i.e. focusing on some other aspect than just playing, e.g. lutherie or maybe making your own pickups?

PaulSimonon 07-12-2006 10:36 PM

I have 0 gas for any basses produced outside of Fishers Indiana.

MyFriendOfMisery 07-12-2006 10:37 PM

I just found out that mxtabs is gone for good. I am filled with saddness. It helped me a lot in my and some of my friends' playing.

Moon Flavor 07-12-2006 10:37 PM

You know, I hate saying this, but I think the reason why I play music is for the energy now. I hate the whole metalcore thing going on right now, but I'd love to be in one of those bands just to go nuts on stage and see people mosh to me. I can't imagine playing at a blues show and have people just...watch. At least in my band people skank to us :)

Jody LeCompte 07-12-2006 10:37 PM

I'm REALLY interested in learning upright but I dont have the money.

I'm also interested in cutting some tracks of just me, but again, instruments cost money.

ITS MINE ALL MINE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I still can't believe how lucky he got in winning that WT550 head.

Jody you evil evil person.:thumb:

Aerodyne 07-12-2006 10:38 PM

Yeah, why's the site not working? It's been almost two weeks now that it's been acting weird. That's long enough for me to buy a tube amp for $200. If only I could find one of those. . .

Something like that.

da_s_man13 07-12-2006 10:38 PM

If your forcing yourself to play you may aswell quit Jody, whats the use...seriously.

Jody LeCompte 07-12-2006 10:38 PM

I should have won a cab too but I can only be so evil.

It's funny because I wanted the pickups they gave away. They gave away a set of bart musicmans and I was disappointed when I didnt win them.

da_s_man13 07-12-2006 10:39 PM

Details Aerodyne....

And man that Jazz is SECKSY

Jody LeCompte 07-12-2006 10:39 PM

Crikey Judd, is that a t-20?

da_$_man13: I like writing music with a band and playing live, but I have no desire to ever practice.

PaulSimonon 07-12-2006 10:41 PM

Then don't practice.

bottlerocket 07-12-2006 10:41 PM
I understand music, but music PERFORMANCE? YOU?!

:p jk
The band I have now (I play guitar and do vocals) is like On the Might of Princes...and I've decided this is what I want to do for the rest of my life so I figured music performance was a good area to study.

PaulSimonon 07-12-2006 10:42 PM

Anyways, my next bass will be a singlecut tenor 5er.

good rats 07-12-2006 10:42 PM

So mix things up with your bass, try a different brand of strings, restring it lefty, play it lap style.

Anything to spice it up.....................Like a good relationship that has become a bit stale, you need to find something new within it to make it interesting

MyFriendOfMisery 07-12-2006 10:42 PM

I find it boring also to play by myself or play with a cd or something. Then every once in a while I get to play with some my friends and wow I love it so much. But everytime we start getting together often something happens.

Jody LeCompte 07-12-2006 10:43 PM

ebe9: Doing weird-**** doesn't do it for me. I just want to write music, not noodle around in my bedroom.

You're not in college yet are you? Music performance is one of the most competitive majors, and in the long run, it doesn't have much potential afterwards. If you have fun though, best of luck to you.

Jody LeCompte 07-12-2006 10:45 PM

I play acoustic alot because I can mix rhythm, lead, and percussive techniques to get a full sound.

I just feel lke I should play bass because I need to get better but when I get to playing, it's just like "Well, I have nothing to push me, might as well just go play guitar some more.

MyFriendOfMisery 07-12-2006 10:46 PM

Jody take a break from it. You may just be doing it too much.
ebe9: Doing weird-**** doesn't do it for me. I just want to write music, not noodle around in my bedroom.
Just tossing ideas out there.

Hey, maybe take a classical music piece and see if you can modernise it

e p 07-12-2006 10:46 PM

andrew ill get you this keller sh*t tomorrow

Jody LeCompte 07-12-2006 10:46 PM

I arranged John Lennnon's Imagine for fingerstyle guitar. That was cool.
