thats probably cause your a guitar n00b who can only play power chords and you think tom delonge is the greatest guitarist ever.

You're right, though I never said it was. It's just like comparing how fast an athlete can run,or how slow a slug goes.It just comes from listening to a solo on a song and thinking "****,that's fast."We're just taking it a step further and wondering just how fast the solo is,and in comparison to other guitar solos. If you want to,then call it 'appreciating an artist for their talent'.The rest of us will call it 'comparing the speed at which some guitarists can shred'. |

Yeah, you're absolutely right, good point.
Alright, you have fun comparing solos. I'll keep out of it. :p |
Tom DeLonge has got some great (punk) solos if you don't mind,RareMana. Not that fast, but the one on Degenerate and the one on Reebok Commercial are great.
*slaps self in face for confessing liking of Tom DeLonge* |
I had an argument with two of my friends concerning the speed of the master of puppets solo. They were talking like it was the fastest solo on eath. Here's what one of them said:
"The solo is ****in hard its like 4 notes per second!" I was laughing my head off! But is it true that its really fast or does it just sound fast. |
^^While that solo IS fast, its still not as fast as the solos in Ride the Lightning.
|
and they aren't as fast as the solo from damage inc.
And that is not as fast as some other solos. Case closed :smash: |
One question for anyone who can play anything. How much time of guitar playing did it take for you guys to play the damage inc solo. I'm curious...
|
Which, by all means, is The most incredible solo you've ever heard Hammet play and on which album is it. I want to know what people think, if this has been done before then give me a link.
|
I think the first Fade to Black solo is the most incredible one for me. It's certainly not hard or anything, but it gives you that nice tingly feeling.
|
<something about metallica>
I dislike the new metallica cd. the sound quality seems crappy (to me at least) and it was too repative. And it just wasnt *metallica*. I am wearing a master of puppets shirt right now. Go me. </something about metallica> |
^Yeah, definitely that one and the last one in Welcome Home (Sanitarium) are both very memorable.
|
The best Metallica solo is 'The God That Failed'.
|
I like the 'ride the lightning' solo.
Also the 'blackened' solo and 'one' solo. |
I like all of Metallica's solos. they all hit home. They all make me feel tingly, deep down inside, where im soft, like a woman.
also, I like a lot of wah wah in solos. |
^ oh ok i get it. I think metallica is trying to say, if "any ones gonna play nu metal, we'll be the ones and we'll perfect it." Basicaly a big f u to nu metal bands today..
wow that was a very annoying read. All that "fing" and "fank" and unfinished words.
try not to do that. Please |
That's what the article said,I'm just writing it down.I haven't even heard half these songs! If you want to check it,it's in Total Guitar mag, issue 118.
Only n00bs / sk8r kids read Total Guitar. Its too commercial. I doubt that 5 of the readers have heard of TD Clark (Or even Mr Cooley for that matter (remember my guitar teacher has had a lesson from Cooley))... |
Only n00bs / sk8r kids read Total Guitar. Its too commercial
^Only closed-minded fools post statements like that.It is commercial because it is a magazine.I read TG cos it has a f**kload of tabs and backing tracks of songs I actually want to learn, like Hendrix or Metallica etc. The only other option on the market (really) is Guitarist, which has one 'classic track' every month, like 'Texas Flood' by SRV.I don't know about you, maybe your just a superhuman eletist whose guitar talent needs no help, but a lot of us play for enjoyment and hobby, and a mag like TG gives the oppurtunity to learn more songs and tehniques to further our playing. |
*1500th post*
No, it gives you an oppurtunity to read biased polls and learn Blink 182 songs. Its hardly in depth, and there is a perfectly good website right here Now back to Metallica: Who's seeing them this year? I was going to goto Download, but found out its 3day only, so I'd have to pay to see Linkin Park. |
I just saw this on metontour
MetOnTour (2/23/2004 8:54 PM) Holy ****ing ****, this is ****ing AWESOME..... Me thinky Metallica are playing Dyers Eve. |
^ I'm seeing Metallica live this year; Download and maybe Paris ( i think it was Paris we organised ).
|
im going to see them march 8th..... i think thats the right date
|
So Metallica ay.
|
So Metallica ay.
Let's talk about Metallica. What is your favourite, ummm, Metallica cd cover? Mine is RTL. |
Master of Puppets could be a work of art, with all the symbolism etc.,like the puppet strings attatched to the war graves beinf pulled by 'godlike' hands, and the setting sun in the background showing the sun setting on 'just another' set of war casualties.I think it suits the album perfectly.
|
How do the Metallica fans in here feel about St.Anger? Liking it or disappointed?
|
Dissapointed? Yes. Like it? Yes.
|
I've found that the case with a lot of big Metallica fans. Personally, I was truly disappointed...The lack of lead was a big let down...But it's one of those things that has to grow on you. The guys were trying something different and I respect them for that. There is also the fact that no matter what Metallica puts out, they will still be successful because their fans are going to appreciate them no matter what.
|
This has been discussed in many a thread, but I reckon it comes down to the fact that it is good album that is a HUGE improvement on the Load-era.It was let down by a bad mix,a lack of solos and a spot of poor track editing, but nevertheless it is a decent album. It has, however, split the fans right down the middle, and half despise the band and label it nu-metal, wheras the other half respoect Metallicas new direction and welcome the fact that they are getting back to playing older stuff live. There's a funny spoof of St.Anger on a page somwhere on rock & metal.
|
As A Metallica album I'm sure it's still decent.
|
Metallicat said it best.
As an album it was great. As a Metallica album it was terrible. |

St Anger is great album, just not as good as all of the other Metallica albums
|
On the topic of St Anger, whats everyone's favourtie song off the album?
|
Metallicat said it best.
As an album it was great. As a Metallica album it was terrible.
It wasn't a terrible Metallica album.Load is a terrible Metallica album. |
I like ost of them actually, though Invisble Kid is pretty poor, and Shoot Me Again and My World aren't fantastic.I'd probably say Dirty Window,The Unnamed Feeling and All Within My Hands.
