Just got Farewell to Kings and Hemispheres in the mail. I've listened to AFTK and man is it awesome...haven't had a chance to dig Hemispheres yet though. I already know La Villa Strangiato is my favorite Rush song though.
I think these albums fill out my Rush collection pre-Moving Pictures, too. Except for the s/t. |
Both of those albums are incredible. Possibly the two best that Rush has put out. I love the title track on AFTK.
I bought Replay X3 yesterday, and it's freakin' cool.
Seeing how their live show has progressed over time is interesting. I think the whole thing on Grace Under Pressure with the "Put on your 3D glasses" was pretty cheesy, I got a real laugh out of it. |
hay eye lyk dis band.
Yeah, I've hardly seen this thread. I still think Rush is one of the greatest band ever formed. |

It is so true. |
My favs are:
All the worlds a stage and Exit, stage, left. Bastille Day was like one of the first full songs i ever learnt :P i can also play first 2 parts of 2112 (by ear though, not 100% correct) and The trees. Yeah, they are the ****. |
Yeah, Exit... Stage Left has been one of my favorites for quite some time.
Go Trees! You can't help but root for the little maples.
Especially when the oaks are ignoring their pleas like they do.
I'm super excited for their new album. I have high expectations for it. I thought Vapor Trails was okay, it was a lot better then Test For Echo. I just hope that the new album is better then Vapor Trails.
I hope he keeps his vocals in the lower range, like the Feedback EP.
I hope that it's an album with one story song over 15 minutes and then a few other ones. That's their best album format.
Rush is a great band, Im just getting into them and they are very good. I only have 2112 and my favorite song is Something for Nothing.
And not 2112?
Yeh, I also like that song but preffer SfN. :)

I wish they would do that too. They also need to throw in the instrumental again. It's probably not going to happen, but we could dream. |
They changed their sound. And as much as their old sound is better than their new one, I don't think that they personally want to do something like that again.
Favorite prog rock band along with Pink Floyd
Peart is god Permanent Waves, Moving Pictures, and 2112 are the best to get |
You can't have those without A Farewell to Kings and Hemispheres. Those 5 together are the essential Rush albums.
^You shouldnt overlook Fly By Night either though.
Of course not. I just wouldn't put it up there with the golden age. Especially because it's cut off by Caress of Steel which is a good album but probably one of their weakest ones.
Theres some new info on the new album. http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/news/upcoming_releases/rush_ready_songs_for_new_album.html
I hope that they tour...Ive never een them, and thats really the only reason why im excited for the new album. Album=Tour. Ihope:confused: |
They better have a tour, and I hope I can go.
I'd do almost anything to see them. Even go to Toronto. Although they will probably come here.
Oh I soooo want to see Rush live, its been a dream of mine for a while now lol. BUt yah, I doubt it will ever happen.
I'm rediscovering the wonders of 2112. I hadn't given the album a much big read, to be honest, but yesterday/last week I did and well, I think it's pretty good.
I like how it rolls around. "Passage to bangkok" is my current Rush favorite. |
2112 is the album that got me into progressive rock which is now my favorite genre. I love that album so much. I love Geddy's vocals on the Temples Of Syrinx, but I hate the way he sings it live.
I prefer how he sings currently (and live) than most recording sessions, eh.
Yeah. He's worked on his voice a lot and it's good now (it was always good but good good).
Aaaa not long now before Rush will bring out their new album! I'm guessing early next year followed by another amazing tour!
They better come to my area.
I'm hoping for a release early in 2007 followed by a summer tour.
I wish they could come tour near my country.

The tour would probably be better than the album but i'm looking forward to both. |
yeah I agree ha
I'm on a Rush binge tonight. I'm going to try to listen to as many of the 17 albums I have of them before I pass out.
I've tried doing that before. I had to leave the house in a car without a CD player, so my plan failed.:( I got all the way to Hold Your Fire though.
The tour would probably be better than the album but i'm looking forward to both.
Yeah, that's probably what will happen. The subject for the lyrics that Neil has been talking about seem kind of dry, but whatever. I can't wait for them to tour again. |
Alright so I got through Permanent Waves, A Farewell to Kings, Hemispheres, Signals, Fly By Night, Moving Pictures, and 2112. Not nearly what I wanted, but 7 isn't bad.
