Ill Mitch 07-22-2005 02:30 PM

I think Johhny Depp is the only thing thats gonna make it a good movie, oh and Tim Burtons scenery aswell.

Win A Rabbit 07-22-2005 02:32 PM
The thing that really pisses me off is that pearl harbor movie they turned it in to a stupid love story. It was more what went on in their effin relationship than historical facts which is what a lot of people really wanted to see.
thats like "titanic" by spielberg. "i'll ignore the fact that all these people died, and focus only on the relationship of these 2 people. that's what everyone who goes to a movie named after the ship that sunk want to see."

How dare you compare those two together!

Stephen Spielberg is probably the greatest director ever!

James Cameron made Titanic, but he has made some kickass movies (True Lies, T1 and 2, ALiens).

Japan3gro 07-22-2005 03:06 PM

If they made a movie for Metal Gear I would crap my pants

metallifan78 07-22-2005 03:13 PM
*Trying not to start an argument* - Does anyone know if they made a movie from the Game 'Metal Gear Solid?....'?....:(.....
So Charlie and the Chocolate Factory turned out to be ok. I thought Johnny did a great job, and the scenery was fantastic, but the jokes were mainly aimed at kids and the songs sucked major ass.

osiecki 07-22-2005 10:42 PM

id only see it to make fun of the english kids
I have seen that movie, and played a bit of MGS1, and the characters are nothing alike!
What are you kidding me man?

Solid snake, snake plissken?

Same low gruff voice, same unshaven beaten up look. War hero rouge attitude? Their pretty much IDENTICLE man. The creator of metal gear has stated how big of a fan he was of escape, the plissken character inspired snake as well as the other characters in the game.

Jezen 07-22-2005 11:41 PM

Well its probably been too long since I have played MGS but to me Snake didn't seem like a beaten up war veteran. Your description of Plissken was perfect however.

Double Bass Jim 07-22-2005 11:45 PM

In the second one snake even uses a code name "plissken" as a nod to the movie influence.

osiecki 07-22-2005 11:53 PM

yea. theyre pretty cool

Win A Rabbit 07-23-2005 12:10 AM

well i just got back from seeing "a hitch hikers guide to the galaxy" and i really don't know whether i liked it or not. i was bored through the whole thing, but intrigued to keep watching. i don't know what it is about her, but i think zooey deschanel is very very attractive. anyone else?

Jezen 07-23-2005 12:15 AM

Yeah that movie wasn't very funny. It was interesting because it was different, but it was nothing more than that.

osiecki 07-23-2005 12:21 AM

i read the book. it was good, but i didnt see the movie.

Mista Bob 07-23-2005 12:28 AM

I saw that movie awhile ago, thought it was fairly good.
i don't know what it is about her, but i think zooey deschanel is very very attractive. anyone else?
I'd have to agree with you. :D

Seafroggys 07-23-2005 12:28 AM

I really liked the movie. I read the book years ago, and saw this movie (waiting years for it to come out).

It was funny as hell. This is sort of my humor exactly. I mean, if you didn't laugh at the sperm whale, then it obviously isn't your movie.

osiecki 07-23-2005 12:30 AM

i watched south park tonight. dont know how hitchhikers guide to the galaxy made me think of that.

Tim 07-23-2005 01:27 AM

i hate when my settings keep getting messed up on my stupid computer

Voodoo Rabbit 07-23-2005 02:26 AM
Snake plissken escape from new york, metal gear was based off that character
Really?....Wow!, must see that film....Yay!, there's a film (that is hopefully like) Metal Gear Solid!....

Jezen 07-23-2005 02:29 AM

Its quite old but still good.

Double Bass Jim 07-23-2005 02:31 AM

Old movies are the best, the stuff out now is mostly garbage with overused C.G.I and lame modern day filming techniques.

Voodoo Rabbit 07-23-2005 02:31 AM
Old movies are the best, the stuff out now is mostly garbage with overused C.G.I and lame modern day filming techniques.
I agree....It's generally the same with music....

Josiah 07-23-2005 02:34 AM

Escape from New York is classic...

One of the action movies that most to follow were based on, something akin to Die Hard.

Double Bass Jim 07-23-2005 02:35 AM

Yea if you want a good example just off the top of my head, think of a classic movie like a fistfull of dollars with clint eastwood, that movies whole production cost was about 10 second of film in a modern day geroge lucas CGI fest. Thats when you actually needed good characters, development and story to drive a good movie.

Turn on AMC sometime and watch those old movies, you'll see why they were better then the crap thats out now.

Jezen 07-23-2005 02:37 AM

Or any of the old John Woo movies. Hard boiled.

Double Bass Jim 07-23-2005 02:38 AM

Yea those arent that old though those are 90's films which on occasion were still decent.

Voodoo Rabbit 07-23-2005 02:44 AM

Bloody hell, there is a sequel to 'Escape From New York' - and I am afraid to say, despite *the fact* it contains a character such as 'Snake', it looks crap.....

Double Bass Jim 07-23-2005 02:45 AM

No it is snake, it's escape from L.A.

It wasnt as good as N.Y, n.y is a classic film.

Voodoo Rabbit 07-23-2005 02:52 AM

Why do directors ruin perfectly good films with terrible sequels?....There should be a rule or something....

Double Bass Jim 07-23-2005 02:53 AM

It's not that bad, if you like the first one you'll enjoy the second one.
