I'm looking for a 19" crash that I can ride on that is dark. Any suggestions?

Plan B. 08-06-2005 01:07 AM

I believe it's a medium actually.

Thanks, much love.

Tim 08-06-2005 01:15 AM

K constantinople crash but its a bit expensive.

*to the 19icnh question

aywkubt_tod 08-06-2005 04:20 AM

I'm getting new h-hats soon, and am tossing up between 13" Zildjian K/Z Dyno Beats, and 14" Ufip Rough Series. I play in two bands, a 4-piece metalcore band, and a jazz trio. which hat's'd fit both bands?

this is a serious post by the way. i read it again and thought it sounded rediculous, but i do infact play in both a metalcore band and a jazz trio. i have a rack setup and just pull out a 3 piece with ride, crash and hats for jazzy-times. i learnt on the Ufips, so im biased towards them, but they're really articulate with sticks.. mm.. what are peoples thoughts?

bobby__johnny 08-06-2005 08:23 AM
Bobby, what weight is the Saturation crash?
medium-thin is what my catalog tells me.

Plan B. 08-06-2005 03:22 PM

It's medium, and damn you all.

Do you think Virgil would settle for just medium thin?! Do you know how hard that guy hits?!

Plan B. 08-06-2005 04:36 PM

I refuse to check the Sabian site.

I'll call Virgil on his cell tonight, then we'll see what's up.

red n black 08-06-2005 04:43 PM

Tell him I said Hi.

And ask him if he can join MX.

OR give me his kit.

Plan B. 08-06-2005 06:28 PM

Alright, so here's how the convo went:

Me: Hey Virg, what's up?
Virgil: Hey man! What's up, so great to hear from you, I mean we talk all the time, but still.
M: I know, I know what you mean. We're so sweet.
V: I was listening to some of your playing today, and HOLY CRAP, I was blown away.
M: Really? Thanks alot, I mean it was just some old tapes I had laying around. You know.
V: Yeah, that's awesome.
M: Yeah I know.
V: So, what'd you call for?
M: Well, some people on MX were like "Virgil's crashes are Medium-Thin" and I was like, what the frick? No way, and I said I'd call you to see what is true.
V: Tell 'em they should know better, I never play anything under Medium weight! Do they have any idea how hard I hit?!
M: Yeah I know, clearly they don't. That's what I said too.
V: Anyway, I gotta go watch some movies.
M: Sweet dude, I'll talk to you about some endorsements later, peace bro!
V: Later!

bobby__johnny 08-06-2005 07:21 PM

Plan B. 08-06-2005 07:54 PM

Whatever, I don't care. Take it up with Virgil if you want to.

stevoibanez 08-07-2005 02:46 AM

you need versatility
versatility = AAX stage hats
versatility = New Beats
you need versatility

#i dont like sabian cymbals in general because they dont feel right, 2 machined
##New Beats are good, but i tried them and not the biggest fan.

i tried out heaps of hats and narrowed it down to the K/Zs or Rough Series..

bobby__johnny 08-07-2005 09:37 AM

try some K Mastersounds maybe...

Hardcore: K/Z
Jazz: K/K

PuppyGooGoo 08-08-2005 09:16 AM

Anyone have any experience with the the 12" zildjian a custom special recording hats? I found them for $100 and I'm interested.

bobby__johnny 08-08-2005 05:12 PM

unless your buying them as auxilliary hats, dont bother....12" is too small for a decent main hat.

Deranged_Drummer15 08-09-2005 01:28 PM

I play music similar to Thrice, would 14" Sabian AAX Stage Hats work for that type of music? Those are the hats I'm looking at...any help is greatly appreciated.

Chester 08-09-2005 01:44 PM

its not always about the bands u play music of, its what u like, u can use whatever, but those hats are excelent and i recomend them to any buyer, theyr one of sabians most versatile hi-hats

Deranged_Drummer15 08-09-2005 02:05 PM

Ok, because I think those are what I'm going to get....I hope not a bad choice. Any crashes to go with that? I'm looking for something with a shorter sustain that's brighter and then another crash with a medium sustain and a little less bright. Thanks for the help

try the stage crashes.

I disagree. They're rather bright and work best in rock situations, I find - which, of course, makes them great for what the guy wants out of them.

Hey Drum Peepz..............question advice wanted....

Have Ludwigs 5 pc w/ 13" New Beats, 18" A Custom Crash, 17" A Custom Projection Crash. However I have the worlds worse ride still left over from my beginner kit....ZBT RIDE. I have to move on...and catch up....I really want a great ride. I like my other cymbals that I have upgraded. However I do not like so much the A Custom rides I have heard. What would be the best addition.......

I love the K sound and almost got K hats..... I like rock as well as jazz but I would rather keep my kit more on the rock side for now....I have heard many a peepz suggest K Rides non the less..... YOUR SUGGESTIONS and HELP will be APPRECIATED.....!

aywkubt_tod 08-09-2005 06:53 PM

i'd go Zildjian 21" Avendis Sweet Ride

DruMMeR_BoY14 08-10-2005 02:38 AM

Look at A Medium and Ping rides, the K ride, K heavy ride and the K Custom ride.

slickrick1688 08-10-2005 01:57 PM

try the k ride. I too play rock and it works great

bobby__johnny 08-10-2005 03:20 PM

PremierManiac 08-11-2005 10:33 PM

I'm looking for a crash with a very warm sound that isn't too sharp on impact.

GooseFilms.net 08-12-2005 12:05 AM

zofo, look into k custom rides
