Darkness 08-27-2005 02:15 PM

Didn't have a singer or bass player, my microphone broke, etc.

ECream 08-27-2005 10:14 PM

Does anyone like Audioslave?

Tom's guitar sounds like everyone else's guitar, and the vocals don't sound right w/o ZDLR.

I really hate Audioslave.

Darkness 08-27-2005 10:16 PM

I love em. :D

Stop comparing them to Rage, and Morellos guitar sounds far different from everyone elses.

-Guitarded- 08-27-2005 11:49 PM

Audioslave isn't as good, but they arn't garbage like most other mainstream music. Tom still uses some different techniques then most other rock bands, and sounds alot better.

Bass_ment 08-28-2005 05:53 AM

Audioslave should not be discussed in this thread no matter what people's opinions are on them.

Yeah I have Live and Rare and its way fantastic!

Shaft! 08-28-2005 05:59 AM

Excellent, I'm listening to a lot of it. Especially "Darkness". My girlfriend of eight months just broke up with me last night.
The guitar solo and the intro are really soothing.
If Audioslave has its own discussion thread, they should be discussed there.

Considering Audioslave is 3/5 Rage (ZDLR counts as 2), I think they are sort of relevant.

And if I'm doing a compare and contrast, this thing would just go in circles with audioslave people telling me to come here.

Darkness 08-28-2005 11:09 AM

ZDLR wasn't 2, Tom Morello did the same amount of work as him if not more. Zack and Tom were the band, and as good as Tim and Brad are, neither were really all that into the politics. If anything Tom and Zack together are 2/3 of the band and Tim and Brad are the other 1/3.

No thats bull****. Your both wrong. I think they are all 1/4 of the band, they all played important roles in the band.

Shaft! 08-28-2005 11:21 AM

Zack wrote the political lyrics. Tom had the political insight and backing. Tim gave some fame to the band with his antics, even if they were unwelcome, and his basslines. Brad's drumming could be complex and worked perfectly with Zack's lyrics.
No band that lasts over 5 years is reliant on just 2 of the members, it's all 4. Just like any relationship, it takes both of you to make it work.
God, I'm going to hate that analogy. My girlfriend just dumped me last night and I'm begging for a second chance.
I'll learn from this...
In any case, it takes all of a band to make it for as long as they did. They all deserve credit.

Exactly. Have you taken your problem the relationships thread???

Zakath 08-28-2005 12:32 PM

Audioslave suck and are an utter disgrace to the memory of Rage.

Darkness 08-28-2005 12:44 PM
Audioslave suck and are an utter disgrace to the memory of Rage.
Wrong. Audioslave is nothing like rage, and its pissing me off more and more whenever their compared.

I'm not comparing their music, I'm just saying that Audioslave sucks while Rage was a great band. Kind of like how I'd say Good Charlotte sucks and Nile is a great band. Except Audioslave and Rage are related through 3 of their members. Retard.

Darkness 08-28-2005 01:04 PM

Because Audioslave have 3 of the same members meens their music should be compared EVEN THOUGH their trying to get a completly different sound? Wow, your a pretty blind moron. Though Nile does kick ass, I'll give you that.

Zakath 08-28-2005 01:06 PM

Are you completely stupid? I understand they have a completely different sound. Guess what? IT SUCKS. Rage was great and I wish they were still together making THE TYPE OF MUSIC THAT THEY MADE WHEN THEY WERE RATM YOU FUCKING MORON.

Darkness 08-28-2005 01:09 PM

Your opinion is your own, but your still acting like a moron. Just shut up and leave.
Your opinion is your own, but your still acting like a moron. Just shut up and leave.
Obviously my opinion of Audioslave is my own, but the fact is that there's a connection between the bands even though the music is entirely different. And I think you're the one who should be leaving with your idiotic 2/3 and 1/3 band member theory.

Darkness 08-28-2005 01:38 PM

I didn't make that up, some guy said that Zack was 2/5s the band, and I said if anything him and Tom are 2/3s.

Zakath 08-28-2005 01:40 PM

I know, ECream is stupid as well. Don't worry, you're not alone.

6.How I Could Just Kill A Man
7.People Of The Sun
8.New Millenium Homes

16.Township Rebellion
17.Freedom

Darkness 08-28-2005 02:57 PM

Put Ashes in the fall on there.

DuncMaster 08-28-2005 03:51 PM

I made a best of CD too, that was hard. "Top 15". First song on CD was #15 and so on. Can't remember the songs, 'coz I got an iPod now so no need for CD's.

ECream 08-28-2005 04:05 PM
I know, ECream is stupid as well. Don't worry, you're not alone.
It's only my opinion that ZDLR was the most important, which is why I 'valued' him above the rest. Here's why.

I liked Rage with him. I hate Audioslave w/o him.

Therefore, Zack made the band for me.

Granted both play different styles of music. Zack is a rapper. Chris is a rocker. The music has to adhere to the voice, and the hardcore stuff Tom, Brad, and Timbob played with Rage, I think is the better music.

I haven't heard anything from Audioslave's new album "Out of Exile", not even the single. Can anyone fill me in, is it any good?
I haven't heard anything from Audioslave's new album "Out of Exile", not even the single. Can anyone fill me in, is it any good?
I liked their first album much more.

Be Yourself is the only track off of the new album that I somewhat enjoy.

The first one has like 5 songs that are really good.

There's a new Audioslave thread that popped up - may wanna check that out.

thisgirl 08-28-2005 10:26 PM

I need some help if any of you can assist me here. I've been thinking about a rage tattoo for a while and I'm just checking to see if I'm on the right page with the meanings of some lyrics. I have a few ones that I haven't decided on, if anyone can give me some insight on meanings.
From War Within A Breath :"Everything can change on a new years day."
Testify: "We found your weakness and it's right outside our door."
Snakecharmer : "Your friendship is a fog that dissapears when the wind redirects"
Revolver: "His spit is worth more than her work."

I'm just making sure I've got them right and what the true meanings are before i put this on my body.

THANKS!

Darkness 08-28-2005 10:38 PM

Everything can change on news years day: is referring to something with the zapatistas back on new years day 1994.

We found your weakness and its right outside your door: I'm not to sure about this one, possible about something how most Americans only care about whats going on around them and not about the rest of the world.

Your friendship is a fog: A snakecharmer controls a snake and the song is about you being controled and used by people who say they are your friends, but these people are lying and dont want to know you when something new comes along

His spit is worth more than her work: probably about how, in our society, men are sometimes seen as higher level beings then women, which we all know isn't true.

Mambuto_O'Mally 08-28-2005 10:44 PM

Darkess of Greed - Are you from Edmonton?

Darkness 08-28-2005 10:51 PM

Correct.

My best of that I made about 3 years ago was probably more in the vein of their general greatest hits, not personal preference. The list is :
1.Killing In The Name
2.Bombtrack
3.Bullet in the Head
4.Wake Up
5.Know Your Enemy
6.People of the Sun
7.Bulls on Parade
8.Tire Me
9.Down Rodeo
10.Guerilla Radio
11.Testify
12.Sleep Now in the Fire
13.No Shelter
14.Renegades of Funk
15.How I Could Just Kill a Man
16.The Ghost of Tom Joad
17.Kick Out The Jams
18.Freedom

I now realise 'Kick Out The Jams' shouldn't have been included, but it's a fairly short track, and I couldn't replace it with the likes of 'Vietnow', 'Take The Power Back' or 'Born of a Broken Man', due to the time. That's a pretty solid compilation right there IMO.
Correct.
Cool. I'm trying to get tickets to go see Audioslave on the 4 in Winnipeg.
