a little bit...travis and glen both do the accents on hi hats for drums...the beat is definately different though...but tom's guitar part sounds quite a bit like dan's bass line...the bass line in cat like theif isn't steady, there's actually a riff that goes along with kick drum, but i know where you're coming from for sure

if you listen close enough it sounds to me like the bass does along with the bass drum in the intro, but i may be wrong...but the guitar does sound like the bass line dan used, but the alk3 recording is definately older so do the math on who may have copied who ;)

Ok, I just went on the biggest downloading spree at once. I just finished downloading all of Alkaline Trio's CDs and I went and got Matt Skiba's split.

matt's solo stuff is amazing i love it...and he plays everything which makes it even more amazing cause anybody who can play all three instruments is like somebody who is bilingual...it takes a LOT of practice plus he has a great singing voice

Matt's split is great, especially in the cover, where he admits the bass was dropped from a track because he sucked at it to bad.

Anyone heard Dan's split with ex-drummer Mike Felemulee? Its pretty good stuff, and he does a fast version of Tuesdays "Let the Stars Play", with Tuesdays drummer I think.

i havent read the cover of matt's split i just downloaded it all

and theres not one bad song on the dan/mike split

I love both the splits, except I don't like Kevin Second's songs.

I haven't gotten a chance to listen to the Skiba/Seconds Split yet.

I'm downloading all of Matt's stuff (that I can find). It sounds pretty sweet.

Overall, Kevin Seconds does the better half of the split. Skiba's second track is the best on the entire album though. "The City That Day" I think it's called.
