Rotting Christ's latest album is pretty innovative. They create a good atmosphere without tons of kvlt reverb and necro static like most black metal. They use melody in their riffs along with melodic ambiance, and also use alot of Gregorian chanting, non-cliche incorporation of clean singing and etc to help build the atmosphere too.

It's also not just riff after riff after riff, there are alot of bridges that also help the development of the songs.

It's too bad most black metallers see them as sellouts now though, their music is quite good, even if it's not traditional black metal.

oh and @ eleventeen, Nile is pretty innovative, even if most people on this site hate them.

Does anyone like Weakling? I am downloading their full length and hoping it doesn't suck.

Weakling is pretty okay. They set the structure for WITTR, but the vocals are horrible and the songs are way too long.

It's worth hearing though.

I thought they were too for a while, I didn't touch their latest album after the first couple times I listened to it for a while. I've been listening to it more now and I like it alot though.

I thought it was kind of the exact same as the last one. Some of the transitions were better but a lot of it just seemed like them doing the same thing as they did on the last album, only you know, again.

I only gave it one or two listens though. It just didn't grab me.

I actually liked their new album. I definitely wasn't a fan of their other stuff just because of how the vocals turned out and everything, but the minor adjustments they did make really stood out to me. Granted I don't listen to it a lot, it still is a pretty good listen every now and then.

Two Hunters is miles ahead of Diadem... MILES. It's just so much better overall.

The ambient passages on Two Hunters are engaging, while the ambience on Diadem utterly fails to keep my attention. Plus, almost everything is improved: riffs, vocals, creativity, build ups, transitions. WITTR would be a powerful live act.

Too bad they can't hold a show. Every show they schedule they cancel a few weeks later.
