Metallicat 01-09-2004 10:13 AM
As the resident Metallica expert, I don't want to see another album. Its a shame, and I love the band to death, but its for the best. If they kick out Bob Cock and do the album that the Black Album was supposed to be, cool, but if not then I don't want to hear it.
if the don't come out with atleast one last cd i'll be pissed. all i ask for is one more. they can't go out with st. anger they have to go out with a big bang!

Photophobic 01-09-2004 01:56 PM

I would love to see them grow old and die whilst still making their music. take "aged rock-star" to a whole new level. and i liked st.anger, its not their best album, but its not their worst, and it got me into them in the first place.

Jon 01-09-2004 02:07 PM

They could do the opposite of Maiden and I'd still love them - retire from albums and just tour. That would kickass...

superpeer 01-09-2004 02:38 PM
So the general agreement is the best Metallica album is Kill 'Em All. But which do you like more...Master of Puppets, or Ride the Lightning? I personally like Master of Puppets more, but they both own.
When did everyone agree on that?

Ride the lightning is my favourite metallica album

To Live is to Die

Anyone have a good tab version of To Live is to Die off the Justice album?

How is retiring from albums and just touring the opposite from Maiden?

FrailandBedazzled1979 01-10-2004 01:07 AM
this, incase you didn't read back, was referring to Kill 'Em All. Not my personal favorite, but still a good album. They were releasing it underground, it was probably recorded live then polished up in a studio later. They did just release the whole album was recorded on a tape recorder anyways. No way a lazy effort.
Believe me, i know plenty about the band...i used to be obsessed when them when i was younger, but if you look at alot of bands first records...it usually is a defining point for the band and argubly thier best work (led zeppelin, black sabbath, the rolling stones) and Kill'em all was constantly being pushed to the bottom of the list in terms of song writing, production, and overall sound of the band.

Photophobic 01-10-2004 03:40 AM

so your main gripe is that they got better?

RideTheSpiral 01-10-2004 05:35 AM
dude, you're missin out
I don't think so.

bball_1523 01-10-2004 09:30 AM

Is anyone from mx going to the March 5th Los Angeles Metallica show? I want to go but I might not have anyone to go with and I would like to meet up with some Metallica fans if I do go.

The St Anger Album Was A Dream It Doesnt Exsist

even if i might have boguht the suposed album - how was i suposed to no there wasnt one solo on it :upset:

Kickflip_Burrito 01-10-2004 04:06 PM

f*ck man i haven't posted on here for soooo long. my last post was about the gigs they did on the 19th and 20th of Dec. ah well.

St. Anger is quite a good album, its a change tho. Yeh lack of solos but with Metallica, they embody the whole aspect of Metal and i suppose they were expanding the ideas with a different concept of Metal, more nu-metal. The only thing i don't like is the inconsistency of the album, you'll get a few good songs, then a couple that suck, then another good one, then a bad one and so on.

Like it was said at MTV Icon = 'Black Sabbath created metal, Metallica perfected it'.
Really, Metallica represents the metal genre and i suppose they were spreading their influence into other regions/types of metal. well, you may think differently but thats the way i view it.

Dont let the thread die! It was on the third page, keep the discussions going.

Coolidge 01-11-2004 06:15 PM

Rob....Do you guys think he's a good fit? If not, who would you rather see as their bassist.

I think he fits perfectly.

And do you think anybody in Metallica could be replaced? If so, who? and why?

Now discuss **** you!

guitarded_chuck 01-11-2004 07:40 PM

I liked Jason more, he fit the part more. Rob's got skill though, so I'm not sure. St. Anger blew chunks.

Diatonic Dissonance™ 01-12-2004 05:10 AM

METALLICA ROCK!!
'|\/|etallic|-\' lol, (that's supposed to say Metallica :( )
anyway, my favorite songs (in no specific order):
-One (+ it has a great solo)
-Enter Sandman
-Nothing Else Matters
-Unforgiven
-Wherever I may Roam
-Master of Puppets

oh, but I HATE 'the Unnamed Feeling' !!

trinx8 01-12-2004 05:36 AM

Do any of you guys know Metallica's Setlist For Australia?
I'll be at their concert at the music bowl in Melbourne on the 28th. I can't ****in wait!!!!
As for the bassist topic-

Jason Newstead- I think Jason had ****loads of melody. He was so under-rated. He improvised with the songs, and did have a lot of good solos.

Rob Trujillo- So far, all that i have seen, is that Rob plays the same as the album recording onstage, which has pros and (mostly) cons. But he does look cool onstage though.

These are just my opinions and i'm sure lots of people will beg to differ.
If anyone could tell me the setlist for Australia, it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanx

Nobodies gonna know the Setlist until they actually Hit The Lights. I suggest you look up some of the most recent set lists from Europe.

Kirk could easily be replaced.....most of his Solo's ain't to tricky. But I dunno, people would get pissy about it.

RideTheSpiral 01-12-2004 07:10 AM

All of them are disposable except James...

He's nothing special.

trinx8 01-12-2004 07:27 AM

Does anyone know how to get that cool clean sound James gets live??

Phoenix_2003 01-12-2004 07:33 AM

Hey lads

Well done for makein Thread, Metallica Rule. I saw them at Earls Court last month and they were ****ing great (as per normal). 1 thing has been pissing me of l8ly. The people that only like metallica for St.Anger and diss metallica's old stuff which rocks the most. I find st.anger to be a bit of a disapoinment but I think its better live cause they add solos, the drums dont sound **** and james sings better.

Cya l8er guys :thumb:
He's nothing special.
I agree he could be replaced with a run of the mill drummer, and Kirk could probably be replaced aswell.
I agree he could be replaced with a run of the mill drummer, and Kirk could probably be replaced aswell.
i dont think so. theyve all been together (except rob) since 80 and theyve done great and made up good stuff together. they flow and theyre used to how each of them play. so i dont think any should be replaced, and theyre all frickin really good.

Kirk Hammet 01-12-2004 10:54 AM

Metallica is like one the greatest bands in the world
they have like what 10 albums or somthing and all of them have
great metal music these people have the way too manipulate metal music for more than a decade!!! Metallica is an inspiration to everybody!!!

Photophobic 01-12-2004 11:03 AM
Because I read that Maiden are still doing studio stuff but no more touring?
maiden did/are doing a tour of europe with funeral for a friend.

I like Rob. :thumb:
Lars isn't the best metal drummer, but he is the best metallica drummer. His style helped define the bands sound and he knows how to work with James well.
