Do you like A Pefect Circle?

nightbringer 11-15-2005 04:11 AM

Funnily enough I bought my first A Perfect Circle CD on saturday (Thirteenth Step). I like it enough to want to get their other material.

Graffito 11-15-2005 04:28 AM
man, if you hadn't included iron maiden in that list i think i'd hate you already.

<3 iron maiden
Blackdeath7392 11-15-2005 07:53 AM

nightbringer 11-15-2005 07:59 AM

Heh, yeah I'm beginning to wish I never sold my leeds ticket...

fatwreckpunk 11-15-2005 01:43 PM

my afforementioned Afi obsessed girlfriend is not signed up but would like to say:

Everyone has their preferences, and if you like their older albums better, fine, but that doesn't mean their new ones aren't musically good. They are developing their style true to themselves, if they went where the money or the fans were they would have stayed "East bay Hard Core" or whatever. But there is no point in remaking "Shut your mouth" every time they go into the studio. If the new album is industrial inflicted, pop punk or country and western, give it a chance. Don't write bands off for progressing.

AntiSocial 11-15-2005 02:36 PM

The first song I ever heard by AFI was Fall Children when I was watching a paintball video on the net. I was about 14 or 15 at the time and the energy I got from that song felt like nothing I have ever felt before. I really like how they've progressed in their style of music. From "Very proud of ya" to "The Art of drowning," every cd in between has its own unique sound. Its almost like listening to a different band from album to album. Thats why I like AFI!

So far I've just got Emotive. It's a bunch of covers of old protest songs plus two originals. Counting Bodies Like Sheep to the Rhythm of the War Drums is one of the originals. It's really good. I like that cd a lot. The cover of People are People is really good too.

Graffito 11-15-2005 11:08 PM

aren't afi starting to experiment with more emo-core kind of stuff now? i'm just wondering, dont really listen to them, aren't my cup of tea.

elcapitan 11-16-2005 01:53 AM

emo-core? that would be really interesting to hear how davey deals with that sound. has anyone else noticed how incredible daveys live scream is compared to the recorded ones? i can almost hear the nodules forming

I'm glad you said that, because I'd only heard negative comments about the cd until then.

Guess I better get the cd and judge for meself.

Eh it makes Imagine sound rather dreary. I sort of interpret it, I guess, as the sad music is now and the lyrics are future, so I like it. But yes, get it. Or IM me inshdosgrownwngs.

And for the emo-core-thinking-dude....judging by the new site and the changes over the last 3 albums, and the article where they said it'd be more of a "cold pop" sound, I'd say they're heading toward post-punk. Cold pop sounds like it'd be similar to Cure Pop, especially when you consider that Davey and Jade love the Cure, Joy Division, etc. and are the primary songwriters. They've got inspiration from that, so it seems safe to assume that they'd have at least a hint of those bands in their new sound. And, as I said, the general direction of the music is heading that way.

concertguy 11-17-2005 12:57 AM

I'm on their CD. Open the cover of a fire inside. Pull out the cd, the picture is underneath. If someone has it, please scan it.
