Not Melodic Death for sure...

I like the idea of just calling it "Metal".

Shadows 07-03-2005 05:30 PM

I don't really care about labeling genres on bands, but I'm usually a Nazi for getting it right. Bodom is power metal, but Something Wild I think has black metal aspects.

So is there going to be some kind of Hate Crew forum or thread or something started? If there is let me know ASAP.
My favorite band woo hoo.... I love every single song they have....

My favorite if I had to choose would have to be either Kissing The Shadows or Bodom Beach Terror.
Glad to see another Bodom fan. My favorite song by them is Bodom Beach Terror as well. It has one of the best intros ever.

Shadows 07-03-2005 06:23 PM

From now on we all have to type in Civitype font. We could be some sort of CoB cult.

Alright, so it was a stupid idea...

Thor 07-03-2005 06:25 PM

Well, we could. Do you want to do it?

Shadows 07-03-2005 06:30 PM

We could do it, we'd just have to figure out a way to get Civitype onto the forums. Maybe petition the mods to add it to the font list in advanced posting. It may look odd, but I would like it because it would be a symbol of those who love Children of Bodom. Almost like a sign of a Hate Crew member.

Thor 07-03-2005 06:31 PM

Well in the mean time we could pick a font that's already on there.

Hey, I was wondering if any of you hardcore COB fans could recomend me like the top 5 COB songs from a guitarists perspective.

COB songs I've heard:
sixpounder-favorite solo (2nd one)
needled 24/7-i like the guitar work in this one
bodom beach terror-nothing special, but a catchy as hell chorus
lake bodom-cool intro
touch like an angel of death live-best intro I've ever heard in my life
hate me-good guitar breaks and solos, prob my 3rd fav bodom song next to needled and sixpounder

AA-12 07-04-2005 09:25 PM

In no order:

Red Light In My Eyes Part I
Red Light In My Eyes Part II
Silent Night, Bodom Night
Towards Dead End
Bed of Razors

thanks man

IheartSP 07-04-2005 09:28 PM

Looks like you don't have any stuff off of Hatebreeder. Look at Warheart, Silent Night, Bodom Night (that last 1 was just 1 song btw), Towards Dead End, and Bed of Razors. Also check out some more Follow the Reaper stuff like Children of Decadence, Kissing the Shadows (best song ever!) and Taste of my Scythe.

justlikealex 07-04-2005 09:28 PM

btw, could you tell me what album those are off of cause most of the stuff i heard is from HCDR

IheartSP 07-04-2005 09:29 PM

The 2 red light in my eyes are on something wild, and the rest he listed were on hatebreeder

justlikealex 07-04-2005 09:31 PM

most COB fans seem to be very fond of hatebreeder as opposed to HCDR, I just finished reading an interview and Alexi says that people consider HCDR sellout nu-metal.
Thoughts on this....

IheartSP 07-04-2005 09:33 PM

Fact: HCDR was a style change
Fiction: HCDR is a sellout nu-metal album

It was nowhere close to nu-metal, it had a lot of metalcore influence though. Alexi said he wanted to focus more on rythym, which had taken a backseat on the last 3 albums. He certainly did a good job having more rythym, and the vocals and lyrics have a much bigger punk influence. Plus the music got a little heavier and a lot less melodic. Nonetheless, it is still CoB and it is a great album, but it pales in comparison to the 2 previous ones.

AA-12 07-04-2005 09:33 PM

HCD isn't nu metal at all. It's not a sell out album either.

IHeartSP: Metalcore influence? I can't see any metalcore influence at all on it.

justlikealex 07-04-2005 09:36 PM

Some of the older songs I looked into actually sounded "happy" so I didn't care for it too much, but that's probably because I was introduced to them through songs like Sixpounder which is pretty heavy.

AA-12 07-04-2005 09:37 PM

Well, it's power metal influenced. Most power metal has a happy like vibe.

IheartSP 07-04-2005 09:39 PM

Yeah their older stuff is very upbeat. It definately has a metalcore influence, listen to the vocals, they have a punk influence, as do the lyrics. Also the riffs tend to be a little more metalcore if you listen to stuff like Shadows Fall or Lamb of God. I can definately hear some of that in there.

Alexi said almost all of the lyrics are improved at the studio and don't mean shit lol but yeah he listens to Lamb of God so I guess he puts that back into his songwriting

AA-12 07-04-2005 09:46 PM

Shadows Fall and Lamb of God arent really metalcore at all. :-\

IheartSP 07-04-2005 10:09 PM

They are thrash influenced metalcore, but definately their definative genre is metalcore.

AA-12 07-04-2005 10:13 PM

Meh, I don't see much metalcore sound to them at all. I just considor them newer metal.
