/belated congrats to Aes
Not much has happened at all really (I don't think...). Welcome back mate. What's been going on everyone? |
What's been going on everyone?
I've been very busy with my new job. Want to see my handiwork? http://www.facs.gov.au/ I worked alot on the css and page layout. We've still got problems with the site when view in any other browser other than IE. I know what the problem is. And I know how it can be fixed. But when we do fix it is causes another problem associated with tables. So it's still not completely worked out, and there's a couple of isses. Like the Page URL shown at the bottom of the page in IE. Check out the code. But i think we did pretty well for the time we had. |
Saw Bluebottle Kiss, Matt Handley & The Dagger Stares, and Karl Larsson last night.
|
 Interesting.
Thanks for reminding me - I've gotta get on to some businesses I'm doing sites for (and decide how much I'm actually supposed to charge these guys... I have no idea). We did a Latin Cabaret for a few nights this week. I didn't get to do a solo flamenco act (which is probably just as well, I almost always stuff up my solos when I'm performing them), but we played some latin/spanish/etc. music with one of the concert bands I'm in... very fun :). Good show, Matt? |
Surfing, bodyboarding... same difference :). I'm still pretty much a beginner surfer - I can catch waves pretty well, manoeuvre around the wave and all that, but not much else. It's all good fun though.
I've been up around Foster too. I liked it up there. I went to a house-warming party last night. They had that fake wine stuff that my mates go off their heads with. We ended up piling up on top of each other rugby style for no real reason, "air jamming", doing karaoke to some song that was half in another language (that we didn't know how to speak. very... interesting), n other crazy stuff... t'was fun. /random info. Btw, anyone know when Airborne is coming back?
Trea, it was the ketchup song, and no, we didnt sing - the others did lol. Hey Ben Also, I nearly had a car accident that night :upset: lol. Coz i got my learners in July so I'm a really bad driver. It was sooo scary. BTW, I got my actual little card yesterday! And bryan (my fraternal twin) didn't!! So glad its not a bad pic tho lol  |
Yeah Trea it was good.
Matt Handley & The Dagger Stares were awesome. |
Sup?
|
nm you?
/MSN moment. Haha. What are you guys up to lately with music? I'm just doing my course, and playing around with Cubase a bit. |
I remember when I used to talk to you on MSN... now I don't.
What am I up to with music? Nothing special, really. Learning lots of theory, as you can probably tell. I'm in the market for an amp. |
Alright, I'm back from my 5-week holiday. Between sailing and music, I've forgotten how to type! My computer seems really strange and hostile, and I get the impression that I'll be using it much less often :p. I bought a second SM57 and a behringer edison, for those of you that remember the old days when it wasn't discontinued. So yeah, I won't come on here and annoy you people as often as I did before. Having said that, see you guys later.

I was exactly the same when i got back from spain. don't worry, it'll pass |
don't worry, it'll pass
Phew, I was getting worried for a second. Welcome back Airborne! How was it? Hmm, musically I'm getting ready for my trombone exam in Oct/Nov, checking out music schools (going to the VCA today - should be awesome), theory and trying to learn a flamenco solo that's 5 pages of notation long ( ). I might have to check out Matt Handley & The Dagger Stares :). |
Hey guys, my name is Heidi and I'm from Rhode Island. I just auditioned for a band yesterday and I got in as lead vocalist, so I'm really excited about that. I'm majoring in music at URI. I'm being trained classically as a vocalist, but my heart is with more modern stuff. This band that I'm just starting out in is going to cover songs for a while until we write our own stuff.
|
Hi Heidi!
that sounds awesome, good look with your new band. Sometimes i wish i had some classical guitar training too =s |
You can still get it, you know, moaner. No real comparison to having an actual classical guitar teacher, but I can help you out a bit if you want :).
G'day Heidi. What kind of music are you into (I know you said modern, but any genres in particular)? |
I'm not sure why she's just been perma banned tho
|
im going for lessons today/tomorrow for my birthday..
what are some qualifications i should look before i start forking over money to this guy? |
I'm not sure why she's just been perma banned tho
Weird.
... nice avatar :p. Kurrupt: Lessons for singing, guitar, piano, violin or...? |
im going for lessons today/tomorrow for my birthday..

Bump. So what's been happening, kids?
I played a gig on saturday night. It turned kind of pear shaped. Our vocalist had a bad head cold and only lasted three and a half songs before his voice just failed on him. He could only ding parts of songs, so he'd leave out the verses and just come back in for the chorus. It must've sounded pretty weird. There were a few other little mistakes (made by all of us) that just added up. A busted string, missed timings, etc. But people reckoned we otherwise sounded great. So I think we got away with it. You're always your own biggest critic. We'll be playing another gig next weekend. |
aes's avatar scares me... :s
today i had a nice middle class afternoon of roast dinner, conversation, croquet and boules, with some friends of the family, which was nice. I recently discovered the abnd mogwai, and they appeal to me. the guitar forum is giving me nasty psychic vibes. I just finished the "kids" book "the unfortunate incedent of the dog in the night time", and thought it was owrth reading (only took like, a day) but a tad overrated. I'm having trouble sleeping (2am here) so i'm emptying my thoughts here. |

It's taken from the funniest movie ever.
today i had a nice middle class afternoon of roast dinner, conversation, croquet and boules, with some friends of the family, which was nice.
How very 'English'. |

wouldn't have it any other way. Who loves irony? The first white settlers in austrailia were criminals. many of their population are descended from said criminals. the native aborigne's make up as little as around 2% of the population. But around 40% of the prison population. I learned about that in geography ages ago, there was a bit of a crisis. how's that going nowadays? |
wouldn't have it any other way.
For sure, I wasn't implying that it was a bad thing at all.
many of their population are descended from said criminals.
How can that be grounds for critisism? Can you assure me that if I traced back through your family tree I wouldn't find once person who had broken the law?
the native aborigne's make up as little as around 2% of the population. But around 40% of the prison population.
Statistics can always be manipulated to make them say what you want them to say. 83% of all statistics are made up on the spot. But alot of ^that is due to cultural difference and attitudes. It's a similar story in many other countries. What is this crisis you make mention of? |
I'm very sorry, i wasn't implying critisism with the "descended from criminals" remark. simply irony. I'm sure there are plenty of criminals in my family tree (along with Robert the Bruce's wife....)
back in the days i did geography (a few years back) we heard that the aborigines found it extremely difficult to find jobs- a notable propertion of them did not attend school. I don't know how true this was, but was asking after it. |
Thanks for the bump :thumb:
Statistics can always be manipulated to make them say what you want them to say. 83% of all statistics are made up on the spot.
 We did a concert last night (with three of the bands that I'm in - Derek was in 2 of those). It was sweet. At one stage there were 6 of us trombonists on stage; big difference to the usual... me (and some other guy that doesn't practise)... We did some stuff like a big band version of Smoke On The Water which a lot of people loved. Our second song was bad - people stuffing up everywhere for some reason (probably because quite a few people were playing who had never played those songs with us before they came on stage). But it went good, all up :). I'd talk about aboriginies, but I should get back to studying Italian... see you guys later . |
11 out of 7 people mess up statistics
I'm very sorry, i wasn't implying critisism with the "descended from criminals" remark. simply irony.
Fair enough. Sorry for getting so defensive.
My sister got back from France yesterday, it was the first time I had seen her in close to a year. |
