Agreed. But generally, I look try and look pass the crappy sound quality of CD's. Maybe Slayer will one day remaster their older CD's like Megadeth did? I just hope they don't mess with the songs and make changes. Or maybe I would I'm not sure...
yeah, ppl blah blah about production so much nowadays that they are losing the feel for what the music is about and what the song sounds like lol. get a life, yes production is very important, but if its a touch less than perfect don't blow a gasket.

Agreed, I have a friend who refuses to listen to most 80's metal because he's such a production whore. It's rather iratating when I try and talk about a band and he immediatley rags on them because of crappy quality... but whatever... everyone has their opinions.

Welcome to the 1000's club SilentScream7.

Britton 10-06-2005 09:19 PM

I find that I like bad production I love the RAW stuff
that stuff that says I work in a sticker factory and play metal at night
fukk off!

Nostalgia 10-07-2005 04:05 PM

Well, I don't really mind the prodcution on hell awaits, because since they are a thrash band it gives them a little more edge the music. But I listened to the nirvana boxset (and I know it is all recorded on a four track) and the production was terrible you couldn't even hear the vocals, let alone the guitar it just sounded like backround distortion.

Britton 10-07-2005 04:07 PM

Yea I undestand what you mean. I've had some of my bands
stuff turn out like that.

KittensInMicrowaves 10-07-2005 04:10 PM
Hell awaits was awesome...the production was horrendious though.
Agreed, its a shame too because Crypts of Eternity is an amazing song, I'd love to hear it with great production

Nostalgia 10-07-2005 04:21 PM

Do you think they will ever have a greatest hits album? I know they have decade of agression but its live so it takes some of the sound away IMO. Oh and when do you think they will have a farwell tour?

I don't think they'll have a fairwell tour, I think they'll just keep touring and one day they'll just stop touring, like King said they won't be touring when they're in their 60's. But who knows when they're in their late 80's they might just get together for one last tour. If they do a farewell tour, it should be full of fire, raining blood effects, and loudness.

I hope they have a fairwell tour. And I hope they have a greatest
hits album...I don't know how the hell I'm gonna get all their CD'S

I'm debating whether i should buy God hates us all, because i've heard mixed opinions about it, is it any good?

in my opinion, it is good. that may not be yours :) if you are an avid slayer fan and like alot of their stuff from the earlier days than you might find it a surprise as the tuning and the style and structure are quite different. i think it sounds great though, definately check it out.

MRDuCran 10-07-2005 10:00 PM

I thought all the songs that i've heard off that album were incredibly powerfull, also the production is a million times better than any of their old stuff.

Bazarov 10-07-2005 10:28 PM

Yeah GHUA has good production.. but dare I say... it has a nu-metally feel in a way. King and Jeff tuned their guitars down to B on that album.. but there are still very awesome songs on there. But then there's ones I don't care for.

I usually don't like drastic changes in tuning but GHUA was awesome.

and

GHUA :smash: St. Anger

in the battle for Drop tunings.

Hey butcher, I was wondering if you could (I know it's a pain and I'm sorry) resend me Show No Mercy? I wasn't able to get to a computer with a burner before today and the link expired. Sorry for the inconvenince but I HAVE to have that album. I listened to it and it was really good.

Apocalyptic Raids 10-10-2005 12:24 AM

Tom's vocals sucked on GHUA.

Nostalgia 10-10-2005 12:43 AM

True, they compared more to undisputed attitude, hes getting old next album he will probably have a cain.

yeah that's true, but i never really adored his vocals anyway - i love slayer for their riffs and drumming and incredible bass. the vocals on alot of the songs sound good, but not all of em.

The second solo on The Antichrist is my fav. Slayer solo.

Tom's vocals are a accuired taste. Songs like necrophobiac tomns voice is good IMO because of how fast the tempo of the song is. No Tom doesn't have "the best" vocals but they fit the genre. And listen to the intro scream on angel of death its amazing.

Bazarov 10-10-2005 12:51 AM

I'm actually quite fond of Tom's vocals, especially from SNM-RIB.

Tom's were much easier for me to like right off the bat than Mustain's were. I liked Tom's vox from the first time I heard them.

Nostalgia 10-10-2005 12:55 AM

What did you guys think of seasons in the abyss?

ArcLite 10-10-2005 12:59 AM

My favorite album next to RiB. I'm a fan of fast but also melodic, and Seasons combined the two perfectly for good thrash, in my opinion.

Same here, though I got into Megadeth before Slayer, it took me awhile to like Mustaine's vocals... but instantly I liked Tom's.
What did you guys think of seasons in the abyss?
Though I don't think it's their best, I think it's probably got their most catchy songs.

This thread used to suck in the early pages. I like it now.

Speaking of early pages... what happened to ToRidtheDisease? I know he was lost in the server change... but did he just quit posting after that?

Nostalgia 10-10-2005 01:07 AM

EDIT:hmm...it has him labled as guest and his post count is n/a. Hmm thats weird.
