Better yet, I'll post it. The bottom is my email, the middle is his reply, and the top is my reply to his reply

Well I don't. Nor does anyone else I've talked to. The big deal is, they didn't steal anything, and you're just falsely accusing them. There's only so many things that can be written before music starts to sound alike.

Oh yea, it's spelled favorite.

"Did I crush your favorite band with on little website?"
Umm... What?
But yea, they're my favorite band. Dave Baksh is the best guitarist I've ever seen or heard. Stevo is the best drummer I've ever seen or heard, and Cone is the best bassist I've ever seen or heard. Deryck is a great vocalist/guitarist, and they all put on one hell of a show.

JT,

PS: By the way, I don't0 care that Deryck looks like somebody else. But since he looks like a guy from the biggest joke band of all time (The Monkees) it's just ironic and funny to put on the site.

Subject: sum ripoff, huh??

Whether or not Sum 41 "stole parts" from other songs, I've barely even heard, or heard of, the bands you accuse them of stealing from.

There's only so much that can be written before it all starts to sound the same. Every time I write something, it sounds like a real song. And I'm not stealing anything.

Who cares if Deryck looks like someone?? It's just how he is. It's not like he had surgery or something.

You act like you know everything about music, and now, just because you don't like Sum 41, you're making a site about them too. You're just a ****ing retarded jackass who's probably like 30 and still lives with his mom
Yeah that guy, on the bashing site, is an idiot because, everyone listen to the comparison for Makes No Difference and whatever the f the other song is, they are so fucking different I could throw up, if any intro sounds like the intro to Makes No Difference its Pressing On by Relient K, but RK came after S41, so whatever, besides, that comparison bullshit could be done for any band ever, none more can be said, and the phrase All Killer No Filler is a really famous phrase used by millions of people everyday and the guy thinks that Sum 41 coppied off of that old guy from like...the 40's or something...he's just stupid and biased for no reason...

anyways, I've seen Sum 41 and Green Day live, and I've heard most songs by GD and all songs by S41 and Deryck is so much more talented then Billie Joe, Billie just kinda knows what he's doing and can seem like he's doing something special, Deryck can actually rock out, I love GD and I think Billie Joe is awesome, but he isn't as good
i can see similarities in about half of those songs, but you could do that same thing with almost any good band.
and the fact is, billy joe can't play guitar. half of their songs use the same chord progressions. it's always either g-d-e-c or c-g-a-f. and he doesn't even play that very well. anyone can pick two simple chord progressions (that have already been used in 24385345^10 other songs) and play them over and over again. that isn't talent.

True. But they were. Half Hour Of Power and All Killer No Filler were pop-punk. Between 2001 (AKNF) and 2003 (DTLI), I can't tell you what they did, but they obviously changed their music. Does This Look Infected? was sort of a mix of rock and pop-punk kinds of music, and Chuck is all rock.

They may not be pop-punk currently, but those times are what they are/were known for. I myself would have loved them staying punk-ish but it's their band and they can run it as they see fit.

lol someone said ajax was dumb and boring or something? i figured i was just calling some randon people an idiot

Bad Blood 07-10-2005 01:12 PM

Have Sum 41 ever put a bass solo in any of their songs or improvised the bass, i've never really heard, or remember hearing anything too amazing from the bass.

himynameistweek 07-10-2005 05:09 PM

cone's not a great bassist. you don't find many good bassists in pop-punk, or any subgenre of punk, really. i think there was one song on chuck that had a solo, though.

Tjebby 07-10-2005 05:12 PM

There are tons of good bassist in punk, and all the subgenres.

Cone doesn't usually show off, but he has some cool parts on all the albums, but on Chuck there's a song called Welcome To Hell where he does a 4 second bass solo, but it's good even though it's short

I think Welcoem To Hell had a bit of a bass part... Some songs on HHOP had some bass, but it's didn't sound all that difficult.

no you guys got it all wrong.... the daves hair song is on the half hour of power album and the spider man one was just a song they made for the spider man movie

no shit sherlock , like we didn't know that yet, the one for the spiderman movie was taken from the one off of HHOP, that's why he said that
