i was read all about Bill Hicks it was amazing i told you everything about him on thi site but for some reason they shut it down a very amazing guy..
|
Nah, Eulogy is about Bill Hicks. The theory Aenema is based on is actually part of Bill Hicks comedy routine.
Welcome to the forum btw. Go read the rules for this section before ya log off.
A lot of ppl have said its about him, but I don't know, they admired him a lot, I don't see why they would be so angry at him. Possibly anger at his death, since they liked him so much. Since we all do feel anger when someoen we love dies. What is everyone else's thoughts on this? |
anyone know where i can find out more about bill hicks and some of his material??
and to dead ohio sky...i guess the reason we feel so angry is because we feel we have been abandoned by that person, whether or not their death was their fault...and i guess if the person feeling the anger believes in a god they could also feel frustration towards their god for having that person taken away from them...but i'm not so sure about that because i'm not religious...but there's what i reckon... |
Eulogy is about Jesus, not Bill Hicks. The lyrics don't completely make sense if it's about Hicks. Like deadohiosky9 said, why would they be angry with him?
|
i'm pretty sure i have read in many places that it is not just about jesus...and i have a feeling they did have hicks in mind whilst writing it...but i can't remember exactly how it relates to him...
|
My opinon is that Eulogy are about people WANTING to be Jesus. Not the man himself. It makes alot of referneces to jesus, but thats because he is one of the most sucessful martyrs in history. The line that says to me it's not about Jesus is 'Not all martyrs see divinity, but atleast you tried'.
|
I'm gonna' take back a little of what I said because you guys have a point.
|
Ya, I think it could be about ppl trying to be like Jesus. hence the line "we need the f.ucking space, to nail the next fool martyr." But I do sense some Bill Hicks anger. It could be a combination of both.
anyone know where i can find out more about bill hicks and some of his material??
Read 'Love all the People', it documents all his best material and other unreleased writings he had done. Or pick up one of his CDs, he recorded several shows onto CDs and released them, usually with music linking each segment. I would suggest Arizona Bay or Philospohy, which contains the best ones (spelt correctly on the CD, but not by me) |
thanks :thumb:
in a cheap way as i am just a mere child with no job and shoes with holes in them...hehe...any good sites to sample his material online?? |
You can download some of his stuff. I've downloaded some of his stuff with Limewire.
|
i know Tool are also fans of Bob Frissell. today i just ordered one of his books "Nothing In This Book is True, But That's Exactly How Things Are". i'm looking forward to reading it.
and, i know this is off-topic, but, today i just saw the new APC video, Imagine. it's really good :D |
i tried watching it but my internet was too screwed up...care to fill me in on it??
i wanna read that book but i can't find it...and i'm broke...so once you've read it tell us what it's like...:thumb: |
For those who have Salival, click Here
Is there secrets on there that I missed? Or are they talking rubbish? |
I'm gonna' take back a little of what I said because you guys have a point.
Never do that, songs mean different things to different people. By all means take note of what people say and let it change your opinons, but if you retract your opinions because of what other people say you are not following the #1 tool guideline. Think for yourself. |
That's not what I meant. I said I'm gonna' take back A LITTLE of what I said, meaning the part where I said that it is only about Jesus.

Is there secrets on there that I missed? Or are they talking rubbish?
I dunno what they r talking bout the Hush duet. But everything else looks right. |
Thats why i guess there are secret sections, the Tori Aimos duet would be cool to see again
|
What is the Tori Amos duet from?
|
Otherside,
re the slavery 13th amendment... i'm sure that APC/maynard didn't know that when they chose the title...however, it just goes to show the interconnectedness of things..... the pieces fit! even if they were never meant to! |
and I disagree, SFK...how could tool call Hicks 'another dead hero' and love his work...
then call him a fool martyr (amongst other things) in the second track? i agree the clearvision...to me it feels more about people who expect to be glorified in death... but as i'm thinking about this I'm reassessing... the continuation of clearvision's quote "not all martyrs see divinity" is "but at least you tried" so who this figure or figure-type is, is someone who still gets repect from tool... maybe the **** thing IS about hicks... i must read it with a fresh head...with clear vision (hehe cheap shot i know) i'll get back to you.. |
the post that you pu up about maynard making fun of religion is not what i think he is trying to say. for me i think that he is commenting on the way that people use religion to con other people into doing what they want. is the sound he say "we would both like to rape you". to me that is the person using peoples love for religion and using it to screw them over, an example of this is the problems with priest rapeing the the little boys by luring them in getting there trust by using religion as a sign of comfort. i am really tired right now so sorry that i couldent take more time to explain myself more.
and for anyone who hasent already figured this out, maynard of tool is a genius and is for more intelligent then all of us but in a different way, and if you listen to tool enough you can see why. |
i tried watching it but my internet was too screwed up...care to fill me in on it??
i wanna read that book but i can't find it...and i'm broke...so once you've read it tell us what it's like...:thumb:
it's pretty good. if you see it with the interview, maynard talks about how all the images in the video are off network television, which is exactly what the whole video is. there are various news images, george bush, iraq, etc. there are also some weird clips with baby dolls with moving mouths. as for the book, i just ordered it yesterday, and probably won't get it for about a week, but when i do, i'll fill you all in :D |
I started reading that book last week. Its great ,it talks about so many things. It opened my eyes to new ideas.
I'm fairly sure it's Ænima...although I don't have the album, so I might be wrong. That's what it's called on amazon though, so I'm going with that.
 well on the CD...when u buy it the plastic §hit on the outside says that its Ænima...but when you open the fvckin cd and look at the songs...its Ænema....its really starting to bother me!!! lol...on all of the sites n e §hit it says Ænima as well....i need help... :upset: |
Both are correct for Tool titles, one is the album title, the other is the song title.
Ænima = Album Ænema = Song
:thumb: thanks.....i needed that...but still...it confuses me...o well  |
Everything in this book is a lie, but it's exactly how things are is a killer book. Alot of it is open for personal belief. Some of it I felt was goofy but alot of it was really good. I don't know that I would recomend someone read it cus they are a Tool fan. If you are into personal growth and inner exporation, ways to open your mind and see what might be right in front of you it is a good place to start.
Other books like Awakening the Third Eye by Samuel Sagan are books I found extremely interesting. Holy Blood Holy Grail again deserves another mention. |
what's behind the whole "Third Eye" concept? i remember reading something about the "pineal gland", but not much else.
what's behind the whole "Third Eye" concept? i remember reading something about the "pineal gland", but not much else.
I had posted this before in this thread, many many pages ago. This should clear it up...... I have researched Metaphysics for years. Hence one of the reasons I became such a huge Tool fan, they study Metaphysics as well. Alot of thier songs tie together. I'll give you a brief overview of some Metaphysical ideas and you can tie the songs together and probably get a better idea of what they are trying to convey through thier music. Ok, to start all this off you have think about different dimensions and human evolution. We currently live in the 3rd dimenstion. While we live in this dimension our body has 44&2 chromosoms. Now, some believe that there are ways to move from our present dimension into the 4th. To do this one must study sacred geometry and understand how the basic universe was created. All things living are carbon based. Sacred Geometry is a way to geometrically explain all things created and living. The flower of life is the basis for everything, as is carbon. The human body is surrounded by 3 star tetrahedrans. 2 of these are actively moving, the 3rd is stationary. To move from the 3rd to the 4th dimension several things need to happen theoretically. Firstly your body my evolve into having 46&2 chromosomes (Hence what the 46&2 Tool song is about). The theory is that to begin the transformation the Pineal Gland must be stimulated. The Pineal Gland is also called the "Third Eye" (Tool Song). Once this Pineal Gland is stimulated it theoretically creates a hormone which will cause the transformation of the human body. How a person activates the Pineal Gland is done through self meditation called Mantra (Tool Song). Ok, now. Lets imagine that we have stimulated our Pineal Gland and have evolved our bodies into having 46&2 Chromosomes. Now, through meditation we will begin to move the 3rd Star Tetrahedran. When this Tetrahedran moves along with the other 2 a "Merkaba" (Tool Song) is created. This Merkaba is basically a vehicle to move from one dimesnion to the next. There are theories that people can move between the different dimensions. One of these people is Drunvalo Melchizedek. There is so much to research about him that I won't even go into him and will leave this for you to do. Be wary of bull**** web sites who claim to be this person as they are pretty much full of ****. This is a very basic run down of some of the Metaphysical studies Tool is involved with. The great thing about Tool is how the music actually is the process for them to relate to these topics and the lyrics kind of guide a person along. In this one post I have clued you in on enough stuff that could literally take years to research. |
The romours are that tool will be comeing out with a new record sometime in 2005, and the news on the dvd is that it will contain live footage from the lateralus tour.
If anybody else has anymore information about this, please post it! |
