I liked St. Anger
|
Personally I didn't like St. Anger, I do like some newer Metallica songs, don't get me wrong. In no means am I saying that it was ****.
|
Yer, same here, I don't actually mind St. Anger no matter what has been said about it.
Sure all the old stuff is great but I like some of the new stuff too. It's different. |
EDIT: Oops mya bad, **** mouse.
Anyways I'll say something else on topic. I havn't really listened to all of the songs on St. Anger, can anybody recomend some of them ? |

That's understandable |
I haven't listened to it in a while so I can't remember which songs were good and not
|
I listened to it last night when I couldnt sleep. I enjoyed it, but Im not sure if it helped me sleep.
Is seem to have lost my copy :upset: |
Gee I wonder how they'll top off the suckiness in St. Anger.
By making a better album, duh... |

p'wned |
Master of puppets on live sh|t from seattle 89 is amazing...worth buyin just for that imo
it's worth buying for the whole thing. both dvd's are amazing |
who here has the SKOM dvd?
I do. I like it a lot. The special features aren't anything special, no concert footage or anything important. It says there's 10 hours of Metallica but it's pretty hard to believe... The actual documentary is pretty impressive tho. |
p'wned
You know how I roll... |

I listen to live sh*t. I have a 3 disc boombox and just put em all in and listen... i don't usually make it to the 3rd or 4th song on the first disc, but thas ok |
Well guys about these DVD's... I see i really need to buy 'em (all)... well.. just bought a GT-6 so i'm pretty short of money... I got alle the albums and a few singles (Which I find more important than the live stuff)... Ok so here's my point... which DVD is the "best buy"? I'm mostly of with the old sh!t, KEA, mop , RTL, not cool with black album and the Loads is way off... I would like a DVD with more than just the usally live concerts, true is nice to see how they play 'em all but I've seen them live 3 times so I don't really need that as much as some facts... going to se SKOM soon so don't bother about telling me to buy that one...
Ok, if anyone gets my point tell me which to buy ;) PS: OMG my english really do suck and blow! |

yes live sh*t is great, ive prolly watched it over and over about 8 times
|
I've seen Live Sh*t as well, its quite good. The one problem that I have is Kirk just randomly changes guitars throughout the show. If you watch carefully it happens sometimes.
|
the best part is when they show all the girls flashing the camra
heh |

What's the problem with that?... |

What kind of stupid are you? They always change guitars. Ah, you must not be a guitarist. There are a few songs of theirs in different tunings. |

Musicians change guitars during live shows constantly to obtain a guitar of different tuning, to have tech staff repair broken strings, etc. It's a fact of playing live. |
I enjoyed every single mettalica album but i do agree that their first three were my favourites, but with their new bass player robert there band is better than ever. MettalicA are the heavy metal gods!!!
|
dammit you guys, i was gonna wait until he replied and then tell him that they change guitars for different tunings. Thanks for stealing my thunder :upset:
|
I love all the first posts that new users make in here :)

It happens in every live performance of theirs you must not have much knowledge of live shows.+ jason newsted was the worst ever band member of metallica! |

Care to explain why? Or is that just gonna be an unjustified comment? |

Why say someone is the worst of anything if they don't deserve it? As we've discussed a lot already in here, Jason is an awesome performer. |
Well I agree with him because I think technically he was the least skilled out of them all.

do you dislike it when they change picks as well HaHaHa |
Well I agree with him because I think technically he was the least skilled out of them all.
Even if it's true, it didn't deserve to be said, and it had nothing to do with the subject in the first place. |
It happens in every live performance of theirs you must not have much knowledge of live shows.+ jason newsted was the worst ever band member of metallica!
Im gonna have to disagree with that and say Lloyd Grant. He was useless. Also without jason there would be no black album, and no ajfa so i think he was a big part of the band, u cant just go out and say hes the worst member. Plus Rob hasnt proven himself to be anything super amazing yet, we will have to wait and see what he wrote on the new album coming out soon(hopefully). |
he was such a retard and he had no soul while playing just he was just with the band for money and as soon as he made his wealth he wanted to do projects with other bands disrespecting the rest of the band.
|

Geez i just barely finish complimenting your attitude and then you go and say something stupid like that. If you have a controversial opinion, at least try to justify it by explaining why you feel that way. |
He was in Metallica for so long, I think he definatly proved his loyalty to the band.
Wanting to branch out and do side projects isn't disrespect, it was musical exploration. And Jason put in a better stage performance than Rob does, and he can sing better. |
Seek and Destroy was my favourite song.

I've seen Jason DVD's and Rob live and I'm going to have to say your wrong on your last point. I think it was ok for him to spread out and get things out he couldn't in Metallica
Im gonna have to disagree with that and say Lloyd Grant. He was useless. There are many questions that can be asked, all leading from one major question,"What if Cliff never died?" What makes you think there would be no black album and no ajfa? They might have been better. Did you really hear ANY bass riffs on ajfa? Cliff was a better bassist than Jason. And we'll check out this new album to see what Rob can do. |

He had no soul? Hey, I guess him running around the stage 30 times every 2 minutes and headbanging EVERY song (except possibly Fade to Black), whether he had long hair or not at the time, hey, I guess that doesn't count as soul. I guess his take-over of vocals during songs isn't soul, yeah? As someone else said, side projects does not equal disrespecting the band. I think that Jason vs. Rob in case of stage presence could be a segment-by-segment basis, because sometimes Rob will do the crabwalk and play to the crowd, and sometimes he just stands there. Sometimes Jason stood there and did the windmill, and sometimes he just stood there playing with a blank look on his face (Example: S&M, Outlaw Torn, about 30 seconds before Kirk's solo) |

He did his part, they just chose to basically drown it out. I feel sorry for Jason for how badly he was treated when he was with Metallica. That mtvicon production really opened my eyes toward how much he had to go through. |

Metallica never gave him an oppurtunity to write, maybe twice or thrice did he ever really contribute anything. It was kinda like "You just play what we write, and look good!" for the whole time he was in Metallica Jason put on some magnificent performances. Just have a look at any of the DVDs which include Jason, he's always putting in effort. If he was in the band just for money, I don't think he'd try so hard. When he left Metallica, I think he saw them as a sinking ship and took the oppurtunity to jump before they brought him down too, people make mistakes. I always saw Jason *trying* to fit in, but no one would let him. Just after the big show of pyrotechnics in Cunnining Stunts, for example. When they're all talking about Kirk's wizbang awesome looking guitar, James says something, and everyone gets off, but then when Jason says something, no one reacts. *By the way, I haven't seen the concert in a while, someone who has recently seen it, please refresh that, it doesn't seem right. I don't think people saw Jason as a full band member, but rather as a part time replacement. |
