Left Shoe 10-10-2004 07:07 PM

well i really dont like the new strings im using , when they are new they chop up your fingers real good , but when you break them in it is so worth it. (warwick black labels)

PaulSimonon 10-10-2004 07:08 PM

SCORPSATH!!! When is the thread being made?

FUNKNBASS 10-10-2004 07:10 PM

I didnt like the warwick ones either, I'm a La bella fan, or Conklin(except for snakeskins).

Left Shoe 10-10-2004 07:12 PM

i think ym next pair of strings are gonna be some dr black beauties.

e p 10-10-2004 07:12 PM

My teacher advised me to get a a new pair of strings. This will be my first. I've been using the same strings for quite a while now.

He suggested Rotosound Roundwounds. Any other suggestions?

PaulSimonon 10-10-2004 07:12 PM

Fenders

Left Shoe 10-10-2004 07:14 PM

black label warwick

FUNKNBASS 10-10-2004 07:14 PM

If anyone wants great flatwounds take a look at La Bella strings, best in my opinion, thier the ones James Jamerson used.

Crapdragoon 10-10-2004 07:16 PM

D'addrrios (sp?) xl roundwounds.

e p 10-10-2004 07:23 PM

Thanks everyone.

alrighty im starting a jam band with a really good drummer friend of mine and a really good guitarist friend of mine , i was wondering if there was like a "bass improvisation guide" kinda thing , now dont waste my and your time with "someone cant tell you hgow to improv. im just looking for a basic guide , ive done it before i just want more of a foundation.

PaulSimonon 10-10-2004 07:31 PM

Erm.... I just work off of chord progressions and scales...?

FUNKNBASS 10-10-2004 07:32 PM

Usully before my band starts jam we do some scales or have the drummer or me do a litle basic groove just to start things off.

thelowsoundofbass 10-10-2004 07:33 PM

the best way to learn improv is to learn your scales and modes also if you know what key you are playing in helps/

lowsound

Left Shoe 10-10-2004 07:34 PM

well see that might be a problem , see i know my scales a nd a decent amount of theory but my ear isnt too great , now you may ask whats hte problem with that? my guitarist knows very little theory and is self taught he knows some scales but i really have to figure out what key were in because he usually doesnt know , im helping him in that aspect though so well see how this works out.

PaulSimonon 10-10-2004 07:36 PM

Just groove then?

thelowsoundofbass 10-10-2004 07:37 PM

then insted of following the guitar get the guitar to follow you.

lowsound

PaulSimonon 10-10-2004 07:38 PM

Or just groove together?

FUNKNBASS 10-10-2004 07:38 PM

Left: the hardest part of jamming is to start out but from there it gets better, if you can record yourself.

PaulSimonon 10-10-2004 07:38 PM

And feed off of one another.
