The Zeppelin version is not nearly as haunting nor as dark/heavy. It seems too light for a song that should be more haunting IMO. Maybe it drags on a little too much in Tool's version, but I like it more.
|
Maynards voice is so distant in the tool version, it gives it a really ethreal sp? atmosphere. Also the whispering in the verses creeps me out quite a bit. PLus im not much of a zep fan...
I love when Maynard sings through the megaphone for some reason. |
Deadline? I dont think we'll be working towards any deadline at this rate
It's August 1st I believe. |
Yeah Maynard + megaphone = awsome
NP : Bjork - where is the line ... Lmao it features Rahzel beatboxing, he is so funny. |
Rahzel's a **** good rapper.
|
Isn't Rahzel the guy from SSX?
Yeah, I know little to nothing about rap/hip-hop. Edit: Or just that guy... |
Rahzel is from the roots? I think.. I saw him with Mike Patton.. Crazy shit
|
Mike Patton is wild. Id like to see him hook up with tool for a song or even better a tour
|
Tomahawk opened for Tool a couple of times didn't they?.. So I guess that would've been the chance for it to happen
|
Hmm Paton was best with FNM...
Knifeboy, which Drdge album first? |

Fantomas did. I dont know about tomohawk though. |

Beat me to it. |
Knifeboy, which Drdge album first?
Depends.. Leitmotif (their first) is really raw.. (Bad description, I know.. Hehe).. El Cielo is one of the most pleasant cd's I've ever heard, both production wise, and songwriting.. And their new Catch Without Arms is really energetic. Go download, symbol song (leitmotif), sanzen (el cielo), and ode to the sun (catch) and see wich one you prefer.. then get that album.. And about Tomahawk, I seem to remember reading an article about tomahawk pissing tool fans off.. Because that was the whole reason Tomahawk was created.. To annoy fans of other bands when warming up for them |
Fantomas tomahwk. cool.
there should be a metal live 8 or some **** like that. . .thatd rock. . |
Sanzen sold me completeley, thanks :)
EDIT: Herbtones, a metal live 8 wouldn't work. The idea of live 8 was to get people to be aware of G8 etc. If it was a metal thing, how much coverage would it get. The reaction of audioslave, muse, velvet revolver and even linkin park were pretty poor. Imagine if metal bands played, poor reaction, no coverage, therefore the event would fail. Plus there are enough metal festivals about...Roskilde, Ozzfest, Download etc etc etc |
hmmm But if all the famous metal bands united, even if that ha to include slipknot well thatd create some attention dude. And the cocnerts woudnt be as big as the live 8, not so many venues.
But your prob right. . .the average dude dsnt like metal a lot |
The concert wouldn't be big atall, check out how much coverage download got in england this year... 2 1hr specials on C4 showing mainly Garbage etc...and a little bit of coverage on kerrang, again showing mainly the singles that bands played..slipknots duality etc
|

Good boy!.. That's my favorite Dredg song.. Hehehe |
The rest of the album bedder live up to this!

Thats a shame really. . . I know id enjoy it if they did such a concert. . .and came to puerto rico :p |
You would enjoy it, I would enjoy it...90% of the world wouldn't.
|
hmm true. But the world is pretty screwed up. 40 ppl die in britain. . .wich is tragic and bam there is this mayor news coverage everywere and everyones like wow! while in Africa a kid dies every 3 . 5 seconds and we pay atention to it only when the 20 biggest radio whores line up to sing together! and heck its only cause of them cause if it were some random metal ban playing for the relief no one would go like we discussed here clear vision
what a world we live in huh! btw maynard shoulve been o live 8 with tool or apc singing a cover from emotive or some tool cover from some peace song. . . :( |
And everyone would be like who is the bald twat with the good voice?
TBH I was at london's live 8, and there was me cheering for slash, and people around me were like wtf? People do care about africa, though it often slips peoples minds. People dying in london is what? 20 miles from my house? My mum could have been on a train etc, it's a helluva lot closer to home for most people. Plus the fact it interrupted the G8 summi,t the worlds most notorious terrorist organisation have claimed responsability for the attacks etc.... Is why there is coverage everywhere... And with africa, it's mainly the dictators that screw up the country, people are trying ot help the situation and stuff. With the london blasts it is a shock and it couldn't have been anticipated or prevented really. |
Now I could've swore this was the Tool thread yesterday :p
I really need to check out Mike Patton related work.. I've heard a good amount of Faith No More and I like some of it, but none of Tomahawk or Fantomas. Both did tour with Tool though. |

I don't like Faith No More. I think Mr. Bungle is the SH!T though. Check out Mr. Bungle's California, It's one of my favorite albums.

We need to get educated! and the internet is the place to do it  |

You'll have to listen to them to classify them. I think of them as indie-prog, but I really don't know. They can be heavy at times and cartoonish at times. But they're listenable, unlike the Fantomas IMO. Here listen to this: http://s39.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=3QZ5W2WHR7BLK2NH2SP1G042MB Mr. Bungle - Ars Moriendi |
