I'm sure it's not easy to begin with, but no instrument is.

It seems you've got the right idea, though.
I eventually want to get to the point where I can incorporate it into my playing on stage.

I have this idea of doing some minor left-hand tapping while I play the theremin with my right hand and a volume pedal.

Spaceman Spiff 04-06-2010 10:37 AM

When I saw The Mars Volta, they had a seldom used theremin on stage. I don't remember it getting any "real" use, just Cedric screwing around at one point and licking it and stuff.

There are a few places that call for ambient noises and such that I would use it in. I'd like to get at least a little bit good at it so that I could run through a little lead line once or twice.

Spaceman Spiff 04-06-2010 10:51 AM

Yeah, that would be pretty sweet. I've actually wanted one for a long time, where did you get it/how much?

I have the greatest girlfriend in the world, and she bought it for me for my birthday. To be honest, I'm not sure where or how much, but I suspect it was about $250. The expensive Moogs can get quite pricey, but they can be had for under $500, which is quite reasonable and a very cool instrument for sure.

I miss you too Joe. You can borrow my L for Identity hiding purposes any time/

Convectuoso 04-06-2010 06:40 PM

Ben: Why has your band got 3 guitarists and no bassist?

Oh wait...

;)

Sablate McNuff 04-06-2010 11:13 PM

Gawd that Stambaugh is so sweet.

Put my theremin through my Korg tuner, and I'm getting the intervals a bit, but accurately hitting them is a bit rough. I'm going to try a different approach tomorrow.

Soul 04-06-2010 11:32 PM

i have another strain injury

second injury in 6 months to my right shoulder

although its not as bad as when i injured my back it still made me skip shoulders and traps day yesterday :-(

Soul 04-06-2010 11:32 PM

im fairly certain its joint-related and not muscle strain

which is actually worse tbqh

but if it is joint related then there's nothing i can really do about it so lol

Put it through an Auto tune device

Gattsu347 04-07-2010 12:18 AM

so im learning how to sing. voice teacher said i have a powerful voice and it shouldn't be long till im a decent singer :o

Sablate McNuff 04-07-2010 12:29 AM

Joel: LOL. I hate autotune (to an extent, it's useful on occasion)

Gattsu: Control is the absolute hardest job a singer has, IMO. Notes are easy to hit. If you're using a microphone, you have to learn how to adapt mic distance as well as sing in different positions and keep you respiratory stamina. Good luck, sir. I wish you the best and keep working at it. Really make sure your breathing and articulating techniques are strong, and pay attention to your throat health at all times.

Gattsu347 04-07-2010 12:45 AM

Thanks Sablate McNuff.

he said if i start belting i could easily destroy my voice permanently. he said i have decent breathing, but said i have basically no sense of pitch and most of my work is going to be in ear training and volume control.

Melodyne > Autotune

Practice > Melodyne > Autotune > T-Pain

Okay, I'm buying into the hype - Kick-Ass is an ace film. Don't remember the last film I enjoyed that much in the cinema.

FunkMetalBass 04-07-2010 10:06 AM

Urg, I'm frustrated. A girl I went to community college with caught me off guard and just sent me a nude picture I never asked to see because she "needed an objective opinion." She knows damn well that I'm in a relationship with somebody else and that I don't want to jeopardize it. On top of that, she's been dating this guy for 3 years, and I know he wouldn't approve of her sending out pictures like that.

What the hell do I do?

Spaceman Spiff 04-07-2010 10:09 AM

I haven't really heard any hype surrounding that movie, but the trailers have made me really want to see it.
Nicholas Cage shooting his daughter...

Send it to me, and then delete and pretend you never got it.

Mostly just send it to me. Unless she's ugly.

Does it cost $$ to send picture messages to people different countries?

She's not ugly by any means; rather attractive in fact. I was actually really impressed (I've always known that she had a nice body, but damn...that pic would surely get me in a lot of trouble).

EDIT: Nvm, I deleted the pic already. Sorry. :upset:

A deleted picture doesn't solve the problem. Secrets and Lies!

Plus I haven't seen the picture, which is a bigger issue.

burtonbassist_102 04-07-2010 01:23 PM

As far as we know, it never existed.

FunkMetalBass 04-07-2010 01:45 PM

I asked her if she'd be willing to send it to a guy named Ben in Canada and possibly a few other people that chat here.

She got angry and wont talk to me anymore.

Sorry, y'all.

Sh*t, I am whipped. :upset:

Any suggestions, guys? Do I break up with her, go bang nude-pic-chick, and then claim that I made a mistake and go back?

Raayl, this is where I need your expertise. You are the definition of "man" on the MX bass forums.

Convectuoso 04-07-2010 02:44 PM

Gais say a prayer for me i'm probably going to be in a bidding war within the next hour on a 3 month old boss gt-10b for 500 (1300 rrp).

Can you tell i'm excited!?

Now pray bitches cause if i don't get it i'm going to start trolling ultimate-guitar instead of posting here.

Actually take that back, i don't want to give you incentive to not pray.
