Has anyone heard the actual classical version of the Passage to the Reaper demonstration 1? I'm listening to it now, it's cool.

Vivaldi \m/

MRDuCran 03-19-2006 01:52 AM

Yeah. Before last week, I'd only heard the Spring movement, that was the first time I actually bothered to listen out for bit they play.

AA-12 03-19-2006 02:43 AM

Yeah, Vivaldi = Genius.

How'd you get such a huge avatar?

AA-12 03-19-2006 03:54 AM

Haha, inside joke type thing between me and Dan (Liberi).

MRDuCran 03-19-2006 01:07 PM

It's the Presto movement of Summer. I said to my friend that it was summer, he was like, well it doesn't sound very summery, being in Gminor an all.

repcak 03-19-2006 01:45 PM

so, i'm back again...

Vivaldi is great... right after seeing Passage to the Reaper i took the 4seasons-cd by vivaldi from my parents and listened to all of them :D

COBHC VANCITY 03-19-2006 03:21 PM

what is Passage to the Reaper, and what does it have to do with Vivaldi?

The four Seasons was on TV last nite, it was amazing.

AA-12 03-19-2006 03:48 PM

Passage of the Reaper = A video with Alexi Laiho.

repcak 03-19-2006 03:56 PM

a guitar-video with alexi laiho and roope latvalla. you see them together playing the summer-theme by vivaldi on their guitars.

edit: can anyone upload the new "Are You Dead, Yet?" video? would be great...

MRDuCran 03-19-2006 05:23 PM

go to scythes of bodom and watch it

Invicta_Veritas 03-19-2006 06:07 PM

I could never really get into CoB....never really "heavy" enough for me.....of course I bought like their most hated album (HDR) and liked a couple tracks, but I'm much more of a death/gothenburg person I guess.......CoB is just a wierd sounding power/thrash band to me.

....----likes Sixpounder

MRDuCran 03-19-2006 06:11 PM

HCDR isn't the most hated.

Invicta_Veritas 03-19-2006 06:13 PM

When I first got it it was.......everybody was like "that's the worst ever".......of course, now it's "are you dead yet is the worst"........I was going to buy it, then decided not to.....so i think ill give follow the reaper a shot......after that though, if I cant dig it, I'll give up on CoB......

CoB not heavy? Are you deaf son?

Shadows 03-19-2006 06:48 PM

Gothenburg is heavy but CoB isn't? We're sounding a little backwards here.

If you listen to them, and still don't like them, thats fine. But at least your giving it a shot... alot of people will just say they suck without out even checking them out...

Alex 03-19-2006 07:19 PM

they actually arent that heavey compared to some bands, like slipknot, i dont like them but they are really heavy in my opinion. CoB is still quite heavy though.

slipknot heavier than Bodom?? i think not.

btw, can this Passage to the Reaper video be downloaded, or do you have to buy it?

Apocalyptic Raids 03-19-2006 07:39 PM

I'm suprised you like Gothenburg stuff, but not Bodom. Most people I've come across who like Bodom have liked GOtherburg as well.

It looks something like this:

-Deadnight Warrior
-WarHeart
-Towards Dead End
-Downfall
-Follow The Reaper
-Every Time I Die
-Hate Me!
-Needled 24/7
-Chokehold
-Angels Don't Kill
-Hate Crew Deathroll
-Living Dead Beat
-Are You Dead Yet?
-In Your Face
-We're Not Gonna Fall

Wow. I havn't laughed that hard in a while. Your an idiot. :p :p :p

If you want really heavy, As Mitch said. Go with Nile and Meshuggah (who both are insanely great). Arsis is pretty heavy as well.

MRDuCran 03-19-2006 08:03 PM

No problem.

I was thinking Cannibal Corpse actually to put for my post but some of the production sucks, but then again, same with Nile, I was just thinking of Cast Down the Heretic from their new album. And Meshuggah, well...Meshuggah.

Slipknot is heavier than bodom, when i first heard bodom i didnt think they were heavy enough really

COBHC VANCITY 03-19-2006 08:11 PM

wow. you must not really know what heavy means.

for me, bad production ads to the heaviness. as does the intensity of the music, how strongly they believe in it and how passionate the artists are.
not just drop tunings and heavy riffs.

for example, i find black metal the heaviest because theyre so crazy about what they do.

but obviously low growling vocals etc like cannibal corpse contributes to heaviness as well... i guess it all depends how you look at it.

MRDuCran 03-19-2006 08:12 PM

ohshi, i sense an argument between manda and dylan

Just because Bodom doesn't tune down to Drop A or Drop B as Slipknot does to make up for lack or talent/creativity doesn't make Slipknot heavier.

There are more factors than just how heavy riffs sound.

You have to consider,

The feel of the music
Mood
Vocals
Bass
Drumming
Lyrical/musicial/overall song theme
and many more factors...

IMO, Neither Slipknot nor Bodom are near the heaviest out there.

Nile, Meshuggah, Arsis(quite brutal), Cannibal Corpse, Necrophagist, Opeth(some very heavy songs), Behemoth, Hypocrisy(the virus album is downright brutal&intense), Green Day(insane blast beats).... Those are all much heavier.

I think your the "winah" on that point. :p

Invicta_Veritas 03-19-2006 10:14 PM

Heavieness has no true, tangible definition.

CoB just doesn't have the heavy sort of feel for me, but I will still try to check out some of thier older stuff.

It is true that crappy production adds to heaviness, but only sometimes. Six Feet Under is a crappily produced version of Cannibal Corpse, but I think CC is better.

I really don't think that My liking of Gothenburg obligates me to like CoB, but in any way, I never said CoB were bad, I simply don't listen to them on a routine basis......just not my style for some reason.

(people should start lobbying for DBJ to change my account name.......he won't listen to me haha)

Uh, Slipknot is nothing but poppy crap. Not heavy at all. Linkin Park is heavier than them.

yup.

I don't think CoB is heavy at all. I mean they are more metal than Slipknot but I think Slipknot is heavier.
