Call it Peice of Mind, I thought of it and it grew on me.
|
Also what choo guys think of A real live dead one. I bought it cos I love Maiden live, but it seemed a bit, strange...
|
It might have been meant as an ironic title - the band sludge out the classics as straight run throughs. It was released around the time Bruce left, and it shows - they (or at least he) was clearly fed up with singing those songs. Most of them appeared on Live After Death, so perhaps this album was released either to get some more money or to display the real tiresome sound of maiden in that era.
this I mean particularly A real DEAD one. |
Which compilation? You should get a live album next, so go and get Rock In Rio.
Best of the Beast. I already have bits and pieces of Rock in Rio, and I probably will pick it up eventually. |
06/09/2005It's that time again... Iron Maiden Xmas Card Competition!
You folks know the drill by now... The last few years we've thrown the design of the official Iron Maiden xmas card open to you guys. This is the card that gets sent to FC members, to friends of the band... and to the last minute people we realise we've forgotten :) Each year, the standard has been amazingly high and we've had a real challenge agreeing on a winner. So, we'd like you guys to do it again. Send us your designs - conforming to the specs below - and the winner will be picked by Rod, be printed and sent to loads of people. The winner will get a credit on the card and a big bag of groovy Iron Maiden stuff. Your design needs to be A5 size (about 21 by 15 cm) - it's up to you which way round it goes (portrait or landscape). The picture is entirely up to you. Now here's the important stuff - as the design will be printed, you need to make sure you have a high-resolution image that you can send us if we choose your card. If you're hand painting or drawing, no problem, but if you're creating your design from scratch in Photoshop or whatever, please make sure you do it at 600dpi and not at the lower resolution you'd use for things that are going to be displayed only on a monitor. Keep the original in a very safe place, and send us a copy. HOW TO SUBMIT YOUR DESIGN ************************** Please send in your submissions as lower-resolution JPEG or GIF images - we don't need you to send the huge hi-res file until we choose the winner. Please make sure that you name your file with your own name - eg. jimsmith.jpg - cos otherwise we get 200 files called 'maiden.jpg'! Email you entries to us here and please make sure you include your contact details. Closing date for entries is 30th September. Good luck!
any of you guys thinkin' on entering? |
Piece of Mind, Killers and Powerslave, to be added to The Number of the Beast, Seventh Son of a Seventh Son, Brave New World, Dance of Death and a compilation.
Hey I just got Killers too. :thumb: Great album. I've already learned "Wrathchild" on bass now, just love those breakdown riffs. |
Nah...me and deadlines don't mix :upset:
oh dear |
Stevie- Bruce is dead against a "greatest hits" live tour, he doesn't want maiden to become cabaret, like Black Sabbath...He places the emphasis on new tracks to prevent this, and to show that maiden are still putting out amazing material.
This makes for a great live tour, but not neccessarily a great live album. I need to get the new one. I don't mind real live dead one- it's good to hear some rarer live tracks- remember tomorrow, where eagles dare and tailgunner among them, although the band don't sound as good. |
Decided on a name yet?
I reckon it should be "thread of the ancient mariner" because, well, it rawks. and because i suggested it :D |
Yes. I'd love to hear Face In The Sand live, or some of the stuff from the second half of BNW. (Particularly The Thin Line Between Love And Hate and The Fallen Angel)
That sounds good. I haven't heard any of their live stuff. BNW is a pretty awesome album |
I doubt they'd ever play Face In The Sand live - Nicko had do use a double pedal for that song, and he's sworn since he'll never use one again.
|
Can anyone play the fast part in Genghis Khan on guitar, bass, or drums? Seems kinda hard, but I've only listened to it and taken a peek at the tabs.
|

If you listen to it, it's not particularly fast. I'll bet he could do it on a single pedal if he wants to. If not, I'll bet he'll just play some uber cool rhythm on the bass drum instead. |

i want them to play alex the great live!!!
|
That would be sweet. Did they play that in '86? It doesn't seem like much of a live song.
|
they've never played it ever, apparently its coz adrian cant remember the solo, which i cant believe, i mean, he couldjust re-learn it, he'l good enoguh!
|
adrian always plans out his solos, unlike davey, who improvises.
the reason nicko can't do face in the sand isn't the speed - he did faster in the wickerman - but the length. i doubt ANYONE could keep up that speed and that power for four and a half solid minutes. |

Bruce have been talking about it a couple of times this tour, and hell said something like "i know you wanna hear Alexander the great, and well be back sometime in the future to play it for you!" to the Greece audience--- |
oh hell yeah, didnt know tht, i hope they do play it, coz so many fans wanna hear it!
|

^i read all of run to the hills 3rd edition by mike wall ( iron miaden biography), im constantly on ironmaiden.org ( iron miaden forums), and im always on maidenfans.com (fan site with tons of info).
|
Ah, so it's completely untrue that people refer to it as the "greatest song maiden have never played live"
|
alexander the great is awesome, in fact quite a lot of the songs they've never or rarely play live are awesome :)

Point taken though. |
