Little Man being Erased 05-09-2006 02:58 PM

Just a bit of Drive-By Truckers' The Dirty South while driving to and from work.

"Danko/Manuel" is an awesome tune.

The Great Decay 05-09-2006 03:07 PM

Going to sleep last night I dug:

Husker Du - Zen Arcade
The Beatles - White Album

Interstate 05-09-2006 04:20 PM

EPMD - Business As Usual
Eazy E - Eternal E

Doesn't get much more gangsta than this.

pgm 05-09-2006 06:37 PM

I just bought Automatic for the People. Simply amazing.

Zappa 05-09-2006 06:42 PM

I think that Suicide album is pretty unlistenable. And not all that intriguing elsewise.

I have been listening to Exile in Guyville a lot since my last post about it.

Ornery Cephalopod 05-09-2006 07:12 PM

No big album playing lately, just various songs by:

Rwake
Camera Obscura
Super Mario 3 soundtrack
Rasputina
QOTSA
Clutch
several Mike Patton bands
string quartet tribute to Slayer
Jesu
Wilco

mmmhmm.

asdf 05-09-2006 07:17 PM

Herbie Hancock - Chameleon
Estradasphere - The transformation
Frank Zappa - Peaches en Regalia

Songs that I'm learning for my school's battle of the bands on thursday.

Zebra 05-09-2006 07:49 PM

Flaming Lips - Oh My Gawd....The Flaming Lips

By far and away their most underappreciated album. The first half of the album is some of the best material they have ever released.

Happymeal 05-09-2006 08:47 PM

Common the past few days. Be is sooooo gooooood. Oh, and Murs.

Anxious 05-09-2006 08:58 PM

I used to think Suicide was crap, now I like it.

:shrugs:

Little Man being Erased 05-09-2006 09:03 PM

Television - Marquee Moon

This album is so damn great. I'm giving it 4.5/5 for now, but I can definitely see it becoming one of my favourite albums and a perfect 5.

I have the remastered version, which is fine but I don't really see the need for the inclusion of the bonus tracks other than having "something extra" because they aren't all that special.

Glitterati 05-09-2006 09:20 PM
Johnny Thunders & The Heartbreakers - L.A.M.F.
I've been looking for that forever.

Classic rock? Upload? Mailing list? Plzzz?

Little Man being Erased 05-09-2006 09:25 PM
The instrumental is cool.
Yeah that's actually the only one I usually listen to.

The Great Decay 05-09-2006 09:34 PM

Beulah - When Your Heartstrings Break
Nick Drake - Pink Moon

I'm not sure if it's one of my favorite albums yet, but I would still give it a perfect 5 for the way it works (especially since there's no filler). I was jammin' along to the title track with my bass and it was a lot of fun. I don't know how to play anything for certain except that simple riff, but playin' some notes in that area for the prechorus/solo jam really seems to work well.

Little Man being Erased 05-09-2006 09:48 PM

Yeah, it just finished playing through and I realised that every single track is as awesome as the next.

Jawaharal 05-09-2006 09:53 PM

Bread's right, the Flaming Lips are rule sauce.

Luxor 05-09-2006 11:31 PM

C'mon

Television is not that good

Little Man being Erased 05-09-2006 11:39 PM

oh but i'm afraid they are

Zmev 05-09-2006 11:46 PM

Yeah, they are.

asymm 05-10-2006 12:11 AM
What did you think of the new Walkmen?
After only a once-through, it seems good but doesn't span as many moods/styles that Bows + Arrows did. It seemed to be a record with quite the heightened pace. I look forward to listening to it further.

Little Man being Erased 05-10-2006 01:35 AM

Ryan Adams - Gold
I Heart Hiroshima - A Three Letter Word for Candy
Gang of Four - Solid Gold

Zmev 05-10-2006 02:45 AM

Zero7 - When it Falls

Ahh, gorgeous

I Was A Kaleidoscope 05-10-2006 02:52 AM

Brian Eno & David Byrne - My Life In The Bush Of Ghosts
Built To Spill - You In Reverse

Zappa 05-10-2006 04:39 AM

"Little Johnny Jewel" is awesome. Just like the rest of Marquee Moon, which is that good.

Happymeal 05-10-2006 05:38 AM

This morning I listened to Masada Anniversary Edition Vol. 5 - Masada Rock and it's super awesome. By far the most accessible record they've ever done.

br3ad_man 05-10-2006 05:55 AM

Stuff I have listened to today:

Cat Power - Moon Pix
Joy Electric - Robot Rock
Air - Moon Safari
Godspeed You! Black Emperor - Lift Your Skinny Fists...

dei 05-10-2006 09:24 AM

I'm looking for that Barr album Beyond Reinforced Jewel Case again because it got deleted on accident. If anyone has it, could you send it to redmintpeel@yahoo.com? Thanks.

For those of you who haven't heard of Barr, check out a song on his website: Barr. His stuff might sound dumb or whatever, but I think it's cool. He's amazing live.

ATM 05-10-2006 10:27 AM

I am really into Modest Mouse right now. Jesus Christ Was An Only Child is such a bitchin' song.

liebherk 05-10-2006 10:28 AM

The Receiving End of Sirens FTW.

also Taking Back Sunday - Tell All Your Friends.

asymm 05-10-2006 11:25 AM

You see, Rain Dogs was always an album that I enjoyed to a point. Somewhat eccentric and full of ideas, but I never completely latched on to it. Due to my somewhat apathetic perspective on his so-called "best" album, I took my time getting more of Tom Waits material. Then today I purchased and listened to Swordfishtrombones. After only one listen I'm already pretty enraptured by it.

Lexxy 05-10-2006 12:30 PM

recently i've been hooked on an album called 'loose in the air' by the double.
they kinda remind me of pavement - but they're a lot more experimental.

Listen to On Our Way by Double : http://www.napster.com/player/tracks/15973138

also been listening to tapes n' tapes bad *** new album. it ruuulless!!!!

Little Man being Erased 05-10-2006 02:31 PM

Cursive - The Ugly Organ

Fuck I love Cursive.

Bukowski 05-10-2006 03:09 PM

Half Japanese - Sing No Evil

This is seriously cool, jazzy post punk.

Harry Pussy - F'uck You

And this is unlistenable noise

hell yeah nukka

I'd say I was diggin' Wilco, but that's a lie, because I'm only listening to "I Am Trying to Break Your Heart" over and over without finishing the album.

Dude3 05-10-2006 03:17 PM

I've been listening to Rory, Minus the Bear, Lovedrug, and Look Mexico.

Friggin' sweet ass song. I may have to listen to that album today.

BillCosby 05-10-2006 03:48 PM

You think The Love Below is solid?

Doctor D. 05-10-2006 05:21 PM

Today it's been:

Gnarls Barkley - St. Elsewhere
Banyan - Any time at all (First Listen)
Cursive - Domestica (First Listen)
Wilco - Yankee Hotel Foxtrot(First Listen)

Cursive is all right, it's not great but it's solid. Though Banyan and Wilco are superb. Dunno why I haven;t listend to Wilco before this. I'll be kicking my head in soon enough over that fact.
