I don't know what kind of equipment you are using, but I can make much better recordings than that with a $200 amp and some pirated software.

Apparantly you aren't a fan of Northern Hyperblast style blast beating. Fair enough.

They were recorded on the Neotek Elite console, mixed on a Neve VR-5, and edited in ProTools HD 7.3.

The drums were programmed and premixed in Cakewalk Music Creator 4.

The amp was a Fender Metalhead half stack, 4x12, with a Shure SM80, an Audio Technica AT4060, and a Beyerdynamic M88TG.

Vocals were recorded with an Apex 460.

Why did everything sound muddy and bassy?

Your equipment certainly sounds impressive, but the result is not very.

And I like hyperblasts, when used tastefully.

The control room with the Neve has a "hole" at around 100Hz, so we accidentally overcompensated. We fixed it a lot in ProTools, and it sounds fine on my end, but I guess not yours.

Your end must not have any bass response.

Playing it on my end on my decent speakers and subwoofer, sounds like a growling elephant rampaging through the street next to our house while being shot at with machine guns.

Sounds pretty metal to me.

Thick and heavy is one thing, a muddy soup of noise is another.

If it's indecipherable except to the person who created it, the one who knows what it sounds like underneath all the ridiculously bassy production, then you're doing something wrong.

Unless you're going to say that you just make music for yourself and don't care what anyone thinks, but then why ask for criticism?
