I want to give Converge another shot. What album should I go with to try them again?
When Forever Comes Crashing.
The new Shai Hulud slays... it's a lot more like Zombie Apocalypse than any other Shai Hulud material.
I agree. Shai Hulud has always been amazing though.

dinosaurxbrocore 05-13-2008 11:16 PM

yeah, they used to be better, but this album is a lot better than i expected, i'm loving it

but np: zombie apocalypse

Yes they do

Feast For The Fallen is probably in my top 7 of all time thrash releases

RetiredAt21 05-14-2008 07:57 AM

I like The Hallowed And The Heathen. "Burning The Body" is a ****ing awesome song.

dinosaurxbrocore 05-14-2008 11:36 PM

Anybody else heard Swarm Of The Lotus? I checked them out a while ago and hated them, but I've been listening to them lately and loving it.

Yeah they are friends of my old drummer. They printed up my old band's t-shirts.

Musically they are ok. I listened to them back in the day and couldn't get into them. I probably should give em another listen now that i'm into more sludgey stuff.

They aren't remotely metalcore though, for the record.

I've only heard a little bit of Shai Hulud's older stuff, but I really like the new album.

2muchket! 05-15-2008 10:20 AM

I do like new Shai Hulud as well

illpressureurhinges1 05-15-2008 10:24 AM

Yah. Intense stuff. I need to listen to their older stuff now.

Dimmu Burger 05-15-2008 10:41 AM

The new 36 Crazyfists is decent.

lol

2muchket! 05-15-2008 11:56 AM

Finally got the right thread ;)

and aye it is decent

RetiredAt21 05-15-2008 11:59 AM

36 Crazy Fists, lol.

2muchket! 05-15-2008 12:04 PM

says the lad who doesnt like Shai Hulud !

RetiredAt21 05-15-2008 12:05 PM

I know what I like and I stick to it.

2muchket! 05-15-2008 12:30 PM

Fair play

still think if you gave Johnny Truant a chance (you were asking for more metalcore a bit ago) you'd like 'em.

Even architects, as they have a strong 7A7P influence

dinosaurxbrocore 05-15-2008 01:43 PM
They aren't remotely metalcore though, for the record.
idk, for the most part they sound like a complete and total (good) rehash of knut and botch, and some of their stuff (snowbeast as an example) is a lot like cave in's metalcore material, just saying.

DBlitz 05-16-2008 08:30 AM

Am on a Shai Hulud binge. "That Within Blood Ill-Tempered", "Misanthropy Pure", "A Profound Hatred of Man" all listend to and now halfway between "Hears Once Nourished..."

Next will be Zombie Apocalypse's "This is a Spark of Life"

rid 05-16-2008 09:32 AM

let's see...

agree, SotL aren't metalcore, but they ARE awesome and people should listen.

Johnny Truant were my favorite band ever... a while back. not so much - or even close - anymore. (though still cool.......... plus new album out soon.....)

RetiredAt21 05-16-2008 10:28 AM

Checked out Johnny Truant and I was bored to death.

Dimmu Burger 05-16-2008 11:07 AM

I can hear what you mean. I would say its sludge metal with the above influences.

RetiredAt21 05-16-2008 11:59 AM

Cave In is another band that I don't get all the hub bub about.

jrowa001 05-16-2008 04:10 PM

i enjoy all their albums, but theyre not amazing. Until the Heart Stops, Jupiter, and Perfect Pitch Black are solid. Antenna has some good songs but overall its a bit bland.

dinosaurxbrocore 05-16-2008 04:26 PM

Until Your Heart Stops is really ****ing good.

dinosaurxbrocore 05-16-2008 04:26 PM

id say its metalcore with sludge influences, tbh

All 10 bands...

RetiredAt21 05-16-2008 08:57 PM

All 10 GREAT bands. Better than listening to a bunch of mediocre/total crap bands.
