I'm pretty sure its "tight". And english.

Thanks on the avatar. I liked the "psychadelia" of the bus, but it was too colorful for my style. I decided to find another Morrison one (sans nipples) and I think this one's pretty cool.

I think we should start sending n00bs to this thread:
http://www.musicianforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=272068

so we can have this one to ourselves.

Badmoon 12-01-2004 08:16 PM

Well actually, most standard tele's are around $600.

lunch998 12-01-2004 08:28 PM

Heavey Riva is the anti-noob, so no flaming.

We uselss talk about random things, sometimes like the community thread but it relates to Classic Rock somehow.

Riva 12-01-2004 08:32 PM

Ahh... I see. Much like the other official threads. Makes sense.

So, *clears throat* has anyone heard of an Australian progressive rock band called Galadriel?

magicbus 12-01-2004 08:36 PM

I've never heard of them. What do they sound like?

thickasabrick 12-01-2004 09:47 PM

oh dammit!!! my internet is really messed up right now, and it took me half an hour to load this page, and there aren't any posts on here i can even reply to! i might have to...call a friend?

edit- k its fixed..i like your new avatar Magicbus.

thickasabrick 12-01-2004 09:55 PM

just to catch up...

i'ts probably too late, but from L.A. woman i would choose Riders on the Storm, LA Woman, Hyacinth House and Roadhouse Blues.

Telecasters are awesome. i almost bought one not too long ago. if you get texas special humbuckers they sound incredible.

i've never heard of Galadriel, but they sound interesting (LOTR fans im assuming?)
any song/album recommendations?

Illmatic 12-01-2004 09:57 PM

Call me crazy, but I was never a big Telecaster guy. Don't know why.

gmoneyguy 12-01-2004 10:03 PM
Call me crazy, but I was never a big Telecaster guy. Don't know why.
Teles have more of twang tone, good for blues and country. It all depends on your style and what type of tone you like.

thickasabrick 12-01-2004 10:03 PM
Call me crazy, but I was never a big Telecaster guy. Don't know why.
some people don't like them, not a big deal. they are more popular in country music actually, due to the nice twang you can get from them. but i like that sound, keith richards, bruce springsteen and jimmy page can't be wrong can they?

edit- of course guitrguy beats me to it.

thickasabrick 12-01-2004 10:26 PM

who is the guy in Badmoons avatar?

Badmoon 12-01-2004 10:28 PM

In my avatar now or before?

thickasabrick 12-01-2004 10:29 PM

now

Badmoon 12-01-2004 10:35 PM

John Popper - Vocals/Harmonica - Blues Traveler

thickasabrick 12-01-2004 10:37 PM

i've never heard anything by them. is their name misleading or do they play blues?

Badmoon 12-01-2004 10:40 PM

They are a Jam Band (Quite popular actually), and they play a heavy form of Blues.

thickasabrick 12-01-2004 10:41 PM

ya i've heard of them alot (maybe on here) i think i may have one of their records...allow me to go check. this may take a while.

edit- no i dont, i must be thinking of another band.

have you ever listened to Electric Flag? I have one of their albums, never listened to it, and it looks quite psychadelic. I'm just wondering if they are any good? i have a very long list of records i am going through and i don't have time to listen to every single one, so im trying to find good ones.

Maggot Dream 12-01-2004 10:44 PM

I've heard of them, but I don't remember anything by them. I've heard they're good as far as the blues go.

thickasabrick 12-01-2004 10:47 PM
I've heard of them, but I don't remember anything by them. I've heard they're good as far as the blues go.
ya i always assumed they were more blues.

hey wait...what did you mean by "good as far as the blues go?" that sounds like an insult to me.
I thought I seid that
well those are the best songs so i wouldn't be suprised.

although i like the nice bass beat on WASP (Texas Radio and the Big Beat) or whatever its called.
oh my god that guy rules on the harmonica, he's amazing. :thumb:
I like how he treats the harmonica like a real instrument. Only a few other people (Bob Dylan, Robert Plant on a few Zep songs) do that.

thickasabrick 12-02-2004 10:23 AM

i've never heard him play harmonica. i've heard a lot better players than bob dylan and especially robert plant though. bob dylan is probably my favourite though, just because i like his music the most (he isn't the best harmonica player). i never even though robert plant as a harmonica player in any sense. he's probably more of a tambourine player than a harmonica player.

and i taught one of my students how to play mr tambourine man last night...the student had never heard of bob dylan.

Plant played the harmonica intro on When The Levee Breaks and again on a song from Houses Of The Holy (I forget which one, I need to buy that **** album).

Houses Of The Holy is the album.

Umm, yeah, thanks, I knew that. I'm trying to think of which SONG on that album.

He is definitley better than anyone you have ever heard. And Blues Traveler aren't strait up Blues. If that was true, I probably wouldn't like them. They an occasional poppy version of it, but mostly a fast loud version of it.

*sick today*
