Telling his parents won't do anything, sorry. Me and two of my friends went to my ex's parents about her cocaine addiction and it only got her furious with all of us. She continued to use as well.

But I'd tell his parents because it's their son, and they have a right to know he is destroying his life. Getting him into inpatient is all you can really do.
